Course those stats on the Rams defense are for the whole year. But the last month or so, the stats are a lot worse.

Of course there is hope. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Of course not.

As for starting with the Eagles instead of Tampalina, you’re crazy…

By Jove, I am not covetous for gold…if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive…
…proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
    Let him depart;

…He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.

He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say ‘To-morrow is Saint Crispian:’
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.

I can’t recall a Rams receiver that has caused me to rewatch catches to figure out just how he held onto a ball as often as Puka has.

I hadn’t thought of that, but that is exactly right. Its not just the quantity with Puka, its the quality.

The ‘numbers’ after 16 games. Puka is 70 yds behind JSN :

    Puka 109.3 yds per game.
    JSN: 106.8

    JSN: 1709 yds
    Puka: 1639 (in 15 games)

i do have one reason for hope. if lake can come back healthy. not sure where the tweet is, but there was a stat showing the defensive performance pre lake and post lake injury. if lake comes back healthy, i think the rams defense could start to perform much better.

Yeah, there’s reason for hope. Lake and the rest coming back. Course we dont know just how ‘ready’ they will be when they come back. And Philly may get to rest their starters next week, I think.

At this point, I am not even rooting for the Rams to get TampaLina. If they are gonna have to win 3 road games, I’d just as soon start with the Champs and go from there. ‘Earn this.’ Ya know.

As for partial refereeing, anybody with a basic understanding of human psychology would not publicly belittle people who have the power to take revenge with impunity. As to whether that is happening or not, I have no knowledge, but if I were a referee who was offended, I would rule any close Puka catch incomplete, knowing in video review, the ref gets the benefit of doubt. And I might call him for offensive PI any time he stuck a hand on someone. But I wouldn’t call penalties to spite the entire Rams team. But… you know… I also wouldn’t waterboard anybody, but there are humans who do.

Are you saying the refs are gonna waterboard Puka? Because I think enhanced-interrogation should only be used on players whose endzone celebrations are clearly unpatriotic, or possibly unamerican.

Cowherd in his Herd Hierarchy vid said if the Rams play the Eagles, the Eagles strategy should be to “throw to AJ Brown 15 times, because the Rams cant match up at all.”

This loss apparently especially bothered people. On our board, when things go bad, posters often don’t vent, instead they withdraw.

Yeah, its an annoying team. I think the 49er, Panther and Falcon losses were super-annoying. The Eagles and Seahawks are truly powerful teams and the Rams played up to their levels. Those losses were gut-wrenching — But those other 3….they need kicked in the ass.

Nick Wright, predictably, makes the argument for Stafford as MVP. (btw, that is his son, who does the podcast with Wright)

Just shooting from the hip here, but sometimes i think Stafford is too aggressive. Sometimes. I mean, he’s ALWAYS aggressive. Like Favre. Its just how he is. But sometimes — sometimes — when conditions are problematic, such as OLine injuries. Maybe the better approach would be, to run the ball, be conservative and not take chances, at least while the early part of the game unfolds. I dunno.

I love Stafford, but i think a guy like Brady or Montana had more arrows in their quiver. Favre and Stafford just seem like…if Martz were a QB.

I could be totally wrong about this. Just a fan-impression.

I’m definitely not ignoring the Oline issue. I’m saying a QB maybe needs to reign it in BECAUSE of the Oline issue.

The Carolina game and Falcon game have cost Stafford an MVP. And maybe even a Hall of Fame jacket. Damn. McCaffrey or Drake Maye are probly the top two choices now.

    Goddammitt.

    They are not peaking.

Robinson had almost 200 yards. Panthers put up 31 on the Rams. Lions 34. Seahawks 38.

In 1969 the Rams also had a good team. Won the first 11. Lost the last 3. I would like to NOT go into the playoffs with 3 straight losses.

    Pop Quiz:

    1) Was Trent Green’s winning percentage above or below .500 ?

    2) What do Jeff Garcia, Jim Plunkett, and Eli Manning have in common?

3 Who has a higher winning percentage: Matthew Stafford, Andy Dalton or Dan Fouts ?

They could pass the 9ers and go to Carolina or Tampa which would be better than Chicago or Philly.

Ok, so have i got this right — If the Seahawks beat SF, and the Rams win out, then the Rams go to Tampa-lina, and SF goes to Philly? Is that it?

But what if SF beats Seattle and the Rams win out? What then? Can the Rams pass Seattle?

Btw, I see Trent Williams pulled a hamstring last night on Purdy’s pick-six. The 49ers need that bye.

I think I prefer Seattle to win. The 9ers winning anything feels like kissing a sister. And I think Darnold is easier to disrupt than Purdy. And… Shanahan is just so damn prepared.

Imagine if the Cardinals ever got their shit together. Also, imagine there’s no heaven.

For some reason I am reminded of this poem by Robert Creeley

    …—John, I

    sd, which was not his
    name, the darkness sur-
    rounds us, what

    can we do against
it, or else, shall we &
why not, buy a goddamn big car,

    drive, he sd, for
    christ’s sake, look
    out where yr going.

    Drive, he said.

Well, I am reminded of the fact the Falcons have a goddamn-big-car named Bijan. 1250 yards. 5.0 yards per attempt.

(BUT…3 fumbles. Kyron only has 2. So far. )

I am ALSO worried about James Pearse, Junior. I foresee Raheemm Morris scheming up the defense so Pearse gets 22 sacks tonight.

    Darkness surrounds us.

Now that the 49ers and Seahawks have won, I’m wondering — at this point does it even matter what the Rams do the last 2 weeks. Can they just rest their starters? Take one or both weeks as a bye? I mean they cant get the no.1 seed now, and i dont see how they could move down a seed either. Is there any advantage to winning any more games?

    As of 12/28:

    NFC
    1. Seahawks Bye

    2 Chicago 11-5 vs 7 Packers 9-6-1
    3 Eagles 11-5 vs 6 Rams 11-4
    4 49ers 12-4 vs 5 Panthers 8-8

    AFC
    1 Denver bye
    2 Pats host 7 Bills
    3 Jags host 6 Chargers
    4 Pitt hosts 5 Texans

I’m worried that the Rams are actually a 4-win team, the practices are too damn long, players are about to mutiny, and Isaac Bruce is a malingerer.

    OT final:
    Atlanta 30
    Rams 30

i think drake maye wins mvp. he’s now ahead of stafford in qb rating. just slightly. stafford is gonna have to play lights out with a less than healthy oline.

and if rams can win out. and niners beat seahawks. maybe he’s got an outside chance.

Well Stafford has 40 TDs. Maye has 30. Thats big. The QB rating is almost identical. 120.1 to 120.9. And Drake played cupcake after cupcake, while Stafford went up against the Eagles and Texans, etc.

I think Stafford wins it, IF he has a good game and the Rams beat the Falcons. But only if he has a good game and they win. If Stafford is mediocre tonight and the Rams lose, i think its up in the air.

I also think some voters have a ‘sentimental’ aspect to their voting. Its a small factor, but its there. We saw it when Josh Allen won over Lamar last year. Lamar had way better numbers. But Lamar had already won two times.
I think voters feel Drake has a lot more years to win it.

Btw, I see Trent Williams pulled a hamstring last night on Purdy’s pick-six. The 49ers need that bye.

0 TD passes, sacked 5 times, 2 fumbles w/ 1 lost, qb rating of 88. Upside: 2 TDs rushing.

Plus, he missed a wide open receiver on the last play of the game.

Hurtz had ZERO yards passing in the second half. I think it was 4 straight 3 and outs, or something like that.

17 total yards in the second half.

Eagles again, win a game on a blocked kick.

Eagles talking-heads are flipping out. Acting like it was a loss.

    (at the 13 min mark)

I was hoping Josh Allen would not look like an MVP in this game. He came close. I dunno.

    Carolina 3 Halftime.

    Inter esting.

IF the 49ers get the one-seed, I am going to gag. They are behind the Rams, Eagles, Seahawks, and Bears in wv-hierarchy.
