Aint it illegal in Calif to be using a cell phone when yer driving? No citation for Shanahan.

    —————————–
    NBC

The San Francisco coach was involved in a head-on collision with another driver on July 14 in Palo Alto, CA and, as NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco reported Saturday, suffered numerous injuries, including a concussion, broken ribs, a broken nose and a broken hand.

Public records from the California Crash Reporting System, a statewide database of collisions, show the accident occurred at 6:12 p.m. PT at Alma Street and Hamilton Avenue after a 21-year-old woman made an unsafe turn while driving a Mercedes SUV in the opposite direction on a four-lane, 25-mph street. (h/t the San Francisco Chronicle’s Noah Furtado and Eric Branch)

Shanahan was driving south on Alma Street, while the other driver was headed north.

The records also show that Shanahan was holding and using a cellphone at the time, which authorities listed as a factor in the accident, but stated that he was not at fault for the wreck.

According to the database, neither Shanahan nor the woman were found to have been drinking, and both parties were wearing seat belts.

Palo Alto police Lt. Nicholas Martinez told the San Francisco Chronicle on Saturday that the officers who responded to the accident did not issue any citations or suspect either driver of being impaired and that both parties remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

What local authorities believe led to 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan’s car accident

“Brandon Aiyuk appeared to mock 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan on social media with cryptic racing-themed Instagram posts: “You can’t win the race if you crash out” and “Keep yo head up and stay in yo own lane / You gone win”

    A.I.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan explained that he was not actively using his phone, but it had been resting on his lap before sliding off and getting stuck between the seats.

    Explaining the Phone Incident
Stated he was going 20 miles per hour on Alma Street in Palo Alto on July 14.
Claimed he was not on his phone talking or texting when the accident happened.
Said the phone slid off his lap and got stuck in the seats.
Admitted he looked down for two seconds to find it, taking his eyes off the road.

Noted that as he was coming back up, the airbags deployed and hit his face.

    Correcting the Accident Report
Refuted an inaccurate public database claim suggesting the other driver was at fault.
Took full responsibility, stating his car veered into the other lane because he was looking for his phone.

Yeah, he also said the garage door opener clipped to the visor caused the laceration.

40 stitches. Seems a lot. Ouch.

Thank goodness he’s okay. Must be terrifying.

And, yes, using a cellphone while driving is illegal in CA, but he says he wasn’t “using” it. I don’t see how it’s different from reaching for your coffee cup or anything else. I find it kind of amazing that we don’t have more accidents like this. I know several times while I’ve been driving, I’ve been distracted by something for a second, and found myself crossing the middle line or the shoulder, and if that fraction of time lines up with an oncoming car, a bicyclist, a bridge abutment….

Mike Evans and Chris Mccaffrey are gonna get their 1,300 yards. They need a third guy to step up though. Deebo hasnt been scary for a while, so i dunno.

Mike Fefleur’s rookie QB Carson Beck made some very nice throws in the hall of fame game.

I have read the Rams are planning on doing their usual ‘get in and get out’ procedure for the Australia game. They will arrive in AUSTRALIA only 24 hours prior to kickoff.

The 49ers are arriving in Australia a WEEK before kickoff.

I think McVay is NUTS. This isnt like going to London.

    I do not like this.

One of those vids in the preview thread (Chris Long?) said that the Rams flew some people to Melbourne and back, just to replicate the trip and see what it did to them physically. Apparently they are convinced it’s better to ignore the time zones, and keep their bio-rhythm. The 9ers are going to try to overcome jet lag, and acclimate to Melbourne’s time zone, then return to the US and re-acclimate to PST. That seems harder to me. In my experience, it takes about a week to adjust, and the meantime, you’re just “off” a bit. I think McVay is making sense on this.

I predict that we shall see.

The only upside to this in my opinion, is the 49ers will have more exposure to the Sydney-Funnel-Web Spider, the Inland Taipan Snake, and the Saltwater Crocodiles.

Just sorta watched Hard Knocks with Seattle as the team of the year.

Seems different to me from the only other time I watched it…Rams

No actual story. Just a bunch of highlights and nonsense.
