He had a tumultuous history with Minnesota as well when things weren’t going his way.
Report: Percy Harvin threatened to walk out on Vikings last offseason

Minnesota Vikings v Seattle Seahawks Getty ImagesThe ongoing saga between Percy Harvin and the Minnesota Vikings appears to have another example of the mounting issues in the increasing troubled marriage.
According to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Harvin threatened to walk out on the Vikings prior to last season. The extension given to New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, Harvin’s college teammate at the University of Florida, reportedly didn’t sit well with Harvin. Both were just two years out of college and Hernandez was the one getting the new contract with the Patriots.
It was more than likely an empty threat from Harvin as he didn’t have any leverage to do so at the time. Hernandez signed his new contract with the Patriots during training camp in August. Harvin was already in the middle of training camp with the Vikings at that point. Had Harvin left the team then, the Vikings would have been able to issue a letter to Harvin giving him five days to return to the team. If he remained away from the team, the Vikings could have shut him down for the season. Doing so would have kept Harvin from earning an accrued season and kept him from reaching free agency for an additional season.
Once a player reports to camp, the player loses any leverage they have. It’s why players holdout and stay away during a contract dispute.
However, if accurate, it would further illustrate the rift between Harvin and the Vikings. Harvin also reportedly had a heated exchange with head coach Leslie Frazier this season. If the Vikings indeed attempt to sign Pittsburgh wide receiver Mike Wallace to a big money deal, it likely won’t sit very well with Harvin.
“[The Vikings are] in a tough spot,” a source told Cole. “If you don’t take some aggressive action, this could get really bad.”
Whether Harvin gets traded or remains in Minnesota, there is the potential for the situation to get even more volatile than it already has been.

That’s just cray-cray. Gotta wonder what’s going on with a talented guy like Percy that he’s moved twice in a short amount of time? There’s something not being said or reported here.

sdramParticipantI had a history professor tell me once that my parents ruined the first half of my life and my kids will ruin the second half. He obviously had no notion of my devotion to the Rams or met my wife. Kidding, I’m only kidding about the wife. She’s a fun girl if one likes having a mule skinner for a wife. She likes to ride me like a rented mule.
I’m hoping in a fugly duckling type of tale with the Rams – like 99. So, maybe next year will be like 99. It ain’t this year. Maybe Vermeil will come back – he looked pretty good for an 80 something year old fart. Or maybe all the hawks, cards, and whiners will get hurt in a three week period starting early next preseason and the Rams will be the last team standing.
I can handle the losing pretty well if they’re improving and competing. I’m waiting to see that this year. We’ve had a few glimpses on offense but the D has regressed under Fisher’s Williams. So, I’ll watch every week for that glimmer of hope.
sdramParticipantRams stepped in it last night. Looked like they were either horribly out coached or quit in the second half. Neither shines favorably on Fisher. Another top five pick. I watched Mariotta and Hundley on Saturday – came away feeling meh?
The ode to the 99 team was nice but it seemed like a farewell to St Louis as much as an honor.
So, I’m curious who’s getting paid more to force the Rams to move to LA – the refs, Kroenke, or Fisher.
October 13, 2014 at 11:19 am in reply to: Greg Robinson still awaiting his opportunity — Wagoner #9539sdramParticipantRobinson will have to be at least as good or better than Mathews.
I’d guess that Robinson will get plenty of playing time the second half of the season. I think we’ll get to see what he’s got before it’s all said and done.
October 13, 2014 at 11:13 am in reply to: Rams Throwback Helmet Design for Monday Night Football #9538sdramParticipantWhen are they going to do something to appease their long time fan base and at least try the real throw back white and blue to see the reaction.
who’s feelings in St Louis would be hurt? Wasn’t that their excuse before. They have several LA Rams and some St Louis Cards on their phony ring of honor. Why can’t they truly honor their past?
Yes, I’m bitchy cause it’s that time of the season. 49ers tonight. A dominant win over these whiners would make the season much more interesting.
sdramParticipantDetroit ? I had to look up their hockey team.
BaseBall Cabrera – Considered the best hitter in BB
Football – Megatron – Who’s a better athlete in the NFL?
Basketball – ? – there’s an argument for Brandon Jennings being the best athlete in the nba.
Hockey – Jimmy Howard – Niklas KronwallsdramParticipantThanks for doing this for us every week.
sd
sdramParticipantThe right move.
sdramParticipantI have to thank the St Louis Rams for helping expand my emotional repertoire.
In a little over three hours I went from hopefull optimism to anger to angst to shame to needing a Snickers bar to disinterest to surprise to hope to glee to confidence to utter disgust. It was a good day.
Rams play like a bunch of wankers sometimes.
Anyway, the pseudo blowout and almost historic comeback was entertaining to say the least. Offensive line pass blocking or blocking plan sucked sometimes. Wells sucks sometimes.
Who ever the nimrod was – Bates I think – that got the 15 yard penalty for pushing a guy after the tackle on the punt needs to be cut tonight to send a message to the other nimrods to stop being nimrods.
sdramParticipantI like his talent – his quickness is undeniable and I think he has decent hands.
But, it seems he is injured very easily because of his size. Whenever the tacklers get into his legs I cringe.
sdramParticipantI’m thinking the Rams OL will show up rested and ready and they’ll be able to control the ball some and compete to win the whole 4 quarters. But, me of little faith thinks the Eagles will likely prevail at home. However, since I’m typically only right about the Rams 34.2% of the time they still have a good shot at winning.
My current expectations are they won’t or shouldn’t get blown out much if at all anymore. They have talent but it needs to grow up and play to win.

vNot trying to stir the shit but I would prefer the old LA Coliseum – I doubt that will happen. That was where I watched them as a kid. However, St Louis isn’t horrific for me – it’s actually driveable for me to see a game. I have no personal attachment to St Louis. But, I’m a Ram fan since I was a kid in LA so fate has forced that I endure wherever they may go.

Well, now, its actually Sunday, and not Saturday. Does this reply get counted???Yes. Sunday counts. It’s bye Sunday after a loss. I will even edit the original post to reflect that.
If you’re going to change the informal poll contest rules then I want a potato chip crust on my tomato pie too.

vI’m having a bye week. Some weeks are that way – but good or bye – they beat the alternative.
Plus, it’s been 96 here the past three days – it was snowing 10 days ago. It’s making me think I could go snow boarding or water skiing but I can’t decide which I can do?
So, what’s your current thoughts on the Rams chances of breaking 500 this season?
sdramParticipantI’d guess between 0 and 1000 –
It’s tomato pie day around here thank you very much.
sdramParticipantThe O-Line played well for the most part – except for Wells dropping a turd in a crucial situation.
It’s fun to watch what Davis can actually do without being pile driven into the turf every other play. After the Minne game, I had 0 expectations so all the offense has actually fun for me to watch.
Now, if they can get the shitty ass defense to be more consistent, I think they can hang with about anybody. The division games are going to be fun to watch.
sdramParticipantJ Cook looks to have made a sincere apology. So, maybe the result will be that he’ll learn to catch easy touchdown passes.
sdramParticipantIt frustrated me as well. I’d like to see the official publicly flogged and then make the scurvy varmint walk the plank or worse.
These calls seem to have been consistently bad in a couple of the games this season – er maybe it was the grog?
At any rate, I wonder if Stan needs to pony up more payoff cash for the referees like I’m sure Jerry Jones would do if asked? Or, maybe the NFL secretly wants the Rams to move back to LA so they’re going to aid said move by “helping” them remain in a state of mediocrity or worse. What’s worse that mediocrity? Certainly not a move to the city of Angels.
OK – hastily concocted conspiracy theories aside -I’m thinking all Ram fans needed a hug yesterday – even the bad ass ones. And, I had to hug myself – that’s not right.
sdramParticipantI’m high on Fisher at the moment – I’ll say 6.69 on a scale of 6.01 to to 6.99. I believe in a variable scale methodology.
But if Dallas bitch slaps the Rams run d tomorrow – he gets a 5.69 on a scale of 6.01 to 6.99.
I’ve always been in the meh crowd regarding fisher – but I do think he’s a decent nfl coach. He’s like many of them – they need a great QB. His greatest success was behind McNair playing at his best. So, how does an Austin Davis-sean Hill combo fit in there?
sdramParticipantI wish. I’m stuck in the soon to be frozen northland. We’re supposed to get frost tomorrow night.
I was in Tampa – Sarasota – Siesta Key last summer – July of 2013. Hot and very humid. Air was 96 degrees, humidity was 97%, gulf water was 95 degrees. I sweated.
sdramParticipantI was hoping they’d take one of the 2nd to 4th round rated qb prospects and really they did that to a lesser degree in Gilbert. I wasn’t versed in QB prospects other than as a casual fan so had no specfific thoughts regarding any of the players. Gilbert might have been more in the third or fourth tier prospect. He must have a smidgeon of potential or I think they’d cut bait.
The thought also crossed my mind in FA that they should go after one of the young vets who left their team not named Sanchez. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Gearing up for the draft will be interesting next year.
Need #1 … healthy QB
Need #2 … healthy backup QB
Need #3 – See Needs 1 and 2
sdramParticipantI’m certain that he still has the flowers I sent for his last surgery. They are perennials.
August 24, 2014 at 8:33 pm in reply to: who should start? will they trade for someone? who? qb discussion #4916sdramParticipantNot a fan of Mark Sanchez but I think he’d be okay as Hill’s backup for this season. He is a solid citizen. But would philly even consider trading him for a pick and then it depends on what the cost is – a fourth round pick isn’t that much to pay for a quality backup. the question with Sanchez is – is he a quality backup?
sdramParticipantBummed about Bradford. I’m thinking my mom’s chicken noodle soup, my pony blankey, and my fuzzy brown bunny slippers are all necessities this wonderful day.
sdramParticipantAwesome – thank you.
