nittany ramModeratorRousey faces 6 month medical suspension…

nittany ramModeratorHow is it possible that Foles could play SO poorly? Many people who were against the trade said there were flaws with Foles’ game, but there was nothing that could have predicted this complete futility. Of course the new offense and poor o-line play are contributors but…sheesh. It’s like his overall suckiness is greater than the sum of its parts.
nittany ramModeratorYeah, because what this game showed us is that despite all the draft picks and the trades and the hype nothing has changed since Fisher took over. This is still the same mediocre team with an uncertain future now made even worse by a huge issue at QB.
nittany ramModeratorWell, there’s no way we should expect victories against either of those teams based on the way the Rams played today. Plus Havenstein’s status is uncertain and Brown is done for the year. Probably looking at 4 – 7.

nittany ramModeratorWhat the hell happened to G-Rob ? He was gawd awful today.
There is no acceptable excuse for this team’s play todayApparently G-Robb leads the league in holding calls. He’s on the 5:15 to Bustville.

nittany ramModerator2. Fisher and Snead contracts will be extended soon. He indicated Fisher and Belichick are two of the best coach cum player evaluators in the league. And there is no another coach even close.
Um, extending them would be way premature.
5. According to this scout, management, coaches, front office are all in agreement Rams are a super bowl team this year. He said watch the next 8 games you will get it.
Well, I think they need to hire new management, coaches and a front office because based on the results of the first of those 8 games they are clueless if they think this is a Superbowl team.

nittany ramModeratorYeah, I’ve had about enough of Foles. He’s getting worse by the week. I don’t know why he is so horribly inaccurate. I don’t know why every ball leaves his hand like it was punted. I don’t know why he is so slow in his progressions and therefore holds the ball so long. I do know that the Rams can’t win with him at QB – not as long as he’s playing like this anyway.
It’s time for him to sit and watch.
nittany ramModeratorIt might depend on ‘which’ family members ?

w
vSo…you’d bump off the ewe? Better hope she doesn’t read this or it will be mighty awkward around the Thanksgivings Day table.
nittany ramModerator“If Quinn and Long are out again, I’d say we should be favored. If Quinn is back, it tips to St. Louis’ favor. Even still, I think the run game will be out the window; between Donald, Brockers, and Fairley I think we will get eaten up inside. Our best bet for consistent production is going to be Alshon and Bennett in the 7-12 yard range.”
This guy sounds too intelligent
to be a Bears fan.w
vYeah, except he thinks if Quinn and Long are out the Bears should be favored? I’m not saying the Bears can’t win, (but they can’t) but there is no way they should be ‘favored’ even with Quinn and Long out.
Favored?! The Bears?! Over the Rams?!
Someone should take a pair of tweezers and carefully pull his pea brain out through his nose, rinse it in a mild bleach solution to clean off the ‘stupid’ and then reinsert it back into his heretofore useless head.
Then maybe he won’t make ridiculous pronouncements like “the Bears should be favored if blah blah blah”…

nittany ramModeratorThe Bears will look back on this game, and think they should have spared themselves the trip to St. Louis.
Because they so thoroughly destroy the Rams in person that they figure they probably could have won the game via Skype?

nittany ramModeratorI wouldn’t do it if I had his concussion history.
nittany ramModeratorUsually a team has to finish at least 10-6 to have a shot at the playoffs. It looks like that’s doable. The Rams will probably lose at Cincy and at Seattle but if they win the rest they get to 10-6. That includes needing to beat the Cardinals in St.Louis and Baltimore on the road.
The Vikings will probably fade given the toughness of their remaining schedule.
Seattle will probably be in the playoff mix as will Atlanta. However Atlanta is going in the wrong direction.
Yeah, the Rams still have a legit shot at the playoffs.

nittany ramModeratorI was really wrong about Foles. I figured a guy who had once had a historic year had to be at least solid.
He isn’t. I’ve seen enough this year to get a feel for what he is doing and not doing. And he really sux.
People talk about the opening play, but they tend to say it wrong. He didn’t “miss” Britt. He didn’t even see him. And he had time, Britt had major separation, and clearly that had to be the focus of the play as drawn. Foles never seemed to see Britt as an option. On the 1st scripted play of the game.
I know. He hit one later. In between pathetic, fluttering, indecisive flings (you can’t call them passes). I also know Tavon dropped one, the WRs struggled to get open, Cignetti and the OL struggled some. But Foles had time to do things. He just couldn’t. Couldn’t see the openings.Couldn’t hit a receiver when they were open. Couldn’t even challenge the WRs to make some plays with any deft throws.
Foles is a major problem, IMO. And his problems aren’t the sort that are going to get better. Especially with the experience Foles has.
I was so pumped that the Rams had figured a way to get a decent QB and save cap money. Well, they blew it. And now we face the biggest headache of all. Trying to find a decent QB from a mid-table draft position.
Ugh. You know, it’s fairly easy to imagine the OL settling in and picking up a WR or two next year. But finding a QB? That’s hard to do.
Hell, maybe Mannion will be able to play.
Yeah, Foles is not who I hoped he was. Unfortunately there’s nothing they can do THIS season except to keep playing him and hope he gets better. Then try to get Mannion ready this offseason.
nittany ramModeratorWell, not having Quinn, McDonald and Havenstein is going to be tough to overcome. Sucks.
Foles wasn’t exactly “Mr. Comfortable” in the pocket before. What’s he going to look like now with their best o-lineman out?

nittany ramModeratorI always think about this when they mention the Rams defense and talk about their front 7.
The secondary for the Rams is very underrated.
Those guys are quite good.
Jenkins transformation into a true shutdown corner this season is truly remarkable.
nittany ramModeratorThe most embarrassing part of that commercial is the voiceover.
———————-
No the embarrassing part is his performance of “Im a little Tea-pot.”
Back in the early 80’s when i was majoring in Elementary Education,
i had a music class, and I had to perform I’m a little Teapot,
and Eensy Weensy Spider (also known as Itsy Bitsy Spider).I am not impressed with Gurley’s performance. It
lacked enthusiasm and the proper gestures. You have to “BE” the Teapot.
w
vThat’s very impressive, wv.
If you could film that for us today and put it on the board I’m sure we’d all like to compare performances. In fact maybe we can have a “Teapot” dance-off with the board regulars and a panel of judges consisting of me and lyser and Mac will secretly convene to laugh…er… decide the winner.
Pie for the winner. Oh–and tea, of course.
Yeah, wv loves to regail us with stories of his theatrical prowess yet he never offers any tangible evidence of it. I think a video of this alleged tea pot business would answer a lot of questions.
nittany ramModeratorNot a big fan of the nickname Mob Squad. Didn’t like Sack City, either.
I don’t think they’re good enough to even have a name right now. I think if they actually win something, like some playoff games, then they’re worthy of a title.
Well, I think they are on the verge of being good enough to have a nickname. They’ve played well in every game this year except one and have been dominating in some games.
I also didn’t like “Sack City” at the time. I would have gone with ‘Sack Louis’. It’s sorta reminiscent of the Steelers’ nickname ‘Blitzburgh’ in the 90’s.
But I like Mob Squad. I especially like that it was coined by a player (Aaron Donald) and not a journalist.
nittany ramModeratorconsider how non-insecure he has to be to do that
Have to say I’m impressed by the amount of skill required to sleuth out that silver lining.
nittany ramModeratorEnjoy this day
nittany ramModeratorWhat if some of the 6.5 billion people disappeared had to come from members of your family and friends?
Could you do it then for the good of the world?
November 7, 2015 at 10:41 am in reply to: Tedy Bruschi: How tough are the Patriots? Not as tough as the Rams #33696
nittany ramModeratorInteresting. There is only one elite team in the top 10 (Pats) and there are 4 losing teams in the top 10.
I guess ‘toughness’ (as Bruschi defines it) isn’t that important.
nittany ramModerator“…The 28-point defeat tied the worst margin for a home opener in franchise history.
Hard to watch? Certainly. Important to revisit this week? Absolutely….’

nittany ramModeratorlong time Rams fans have a bad taste of the Ram playoff loses to the Vikings during the 70’s, but Ram fans rarely mention this Viking playoff game.
December 26, 1988
Vikings safety Joey Browner recorded two interceptions in the first quarter to set up a two touchdown lead that the Rams could never recover from. Browner also finished the game with 7 tackles, had the Vikings only sack of the day, and recovered a Rams onside kick attempt to seal the win
Browner’s first interception, on 3rd and 17 from the Vikings 32, led to a Minnesota 73-yard drive that featured Wade Wilson’s 34-yard completion to reserve receiver Jim Gustafso and was capped by running back Alfred Anderson’s 7-yard rushing touchdown. Then on the first play of the Rams next drive, Browner intercepted another pass from Jim Everett and returned it 14 yards to the Los Angeles 17-yard line, where Allen Rice took it in for a touchdown on the next play.
In the second quarter, the Rams had three chances to score, but only managed to get any points once. First, Mike Lansford missed a 41-yard field attempt (later matched by a 44-yard miss by Minnesota’s Chuck Nelson). Then they drove to a 3rd and 1 on the Vikings 30 and were stopped for no gain on consecutive running plays. But just before halftime, Everett led the team 70 yards to cut the lead in half at 14-7 with his 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end Damone Johnson.
Minnesota took the second half kickoff and moved the ball all the way to the end zone with a 1-yard touchdown run by Anderson, going back up by two touchdowns at 21-7. The Rams countered with a 33-yard field goal from Lansford, but in the fourth quarter, Wilson completed a 44-yard pass to Anthony Carter on the LA 5-yard line. On the next play, he threw a touchdown pass to tight end Carl Hilton, giving the team a 28-10 lead and essentially putting the game out of reach. The Rams managed one more touchdown with 1:11 left in the game on Everett’s 11-yard throw to tight end Pete Holohan, but Browner recovered their onside kick attempt and the Vikings ran out the rest of the clock.
Wilson finished the game with 253 passing yards and a touchdown, while Carter caught 4 passes for 102 yards. Rams linebacker Kevin Greene had 3 sacks.
That loss didn’t bother me so much because the Rams had rebounded to 10-6 after going 6-9 in the previous strike-shortened season. Plus it looked like the Rams *finally* had an elite passer and a solid defense under Fritz Shurmer. The future looked bright and I was looking forward to all the playoff victories to come.
Sigh…

nittany ramModeratorDA Rams.
If Ditka coaches…da Rams 767, Vikings -13
Without Ditka…Rams 24, Vikings 20
And Ditka most likely isn’t coaching, so I’m going with latter.
