nittany ramModeratorI imagine he’ll appeal it, right? Which means he’ll be able to play in the upcoming game(s)? His suspension would be a huge deal. I think the Giants win their division if they win out but they’ll need Beckham to do it.
nittany ramModeratorFallon may be the best late night talk show host ever.
nittany ramModeratorThe Broncos/Steelers game seems like the best game of the day. Also the Cardinals/Eagles game should be interesting.

nittany ramModeratorAs disappointing as this season has been, should the Rams somehow manage to win their last two games this would be Fisher’s most successful season in St Louis. Of course, the bar was set pretty low…
No way they’re gonna beat the Seahawks in Seattle, obviously. Especially without Quinn.
nittany ramModeratorThe Rams in the AFC?!
Codswallop!
I’ve never heard such flapdoodle in all my life.
That would be akin to hobnobbing with the ‘help’.
Pure and utter tommyrot is what that is.
I won’t stand for it.
nittany ramModeratorYou know, there is probably a board out there somewhere for Raiders fans.
Says the guy who has a picture of Al Davis in a top hat for his avatar…
nittany ramModeratorIf this happens then for the second time in my life I will be forced to root against
SJax.
nittany ramModeratorOlsen had 11 sacks in 1972. That was only good enough for second on the team that season.

nittany ramModeratorKelly says Foles doesn’t have the talent.. I don’t know if Kelly is right, but I do think he is biased.
Kelly’s talking about having enough talent for his offense though, right?
Well, I think we all knew that Foles wasn’t as talented as Bradford. From a strictly ‘talent’ standpoint, there aren’t many better than Bradford.
What we thought the Rams were getting was a tough QB who could manage a ball control offense and take shots down the field with play action. And do it without gobbling up as much cap space as Bradford did.
But I think everyone knew that Bradford was more talented. That was a given.
nittany ramModeratorPart of building a winning team, however, is acquiring enough depth to remain competitive when injuries inevitably occur. One of Fisher’s problems IMO is a lack of balance in managing the roster. Look at the D. Star players are injured in every unit, but there’s incredible depth there and the D is still playing very well.
The offense has no depth anywhere except at RB. This is a theme. Fisher repeatedly goes into seasons with drastically sub-par starting units (Pead/Richardson), the (almost) all-rookie OL, our receiving corps (who played above their heads last year and made him look like a successful gambler, but have reverted to form this year) and no depth behind them.
I don’t know if it’s Fisher or Snead, but they suck at evaluating offensive talent. Gurley and Austin are their only real hits. Fisher seems to have a real weaknesses for impressive athletes who aren’t good football players on the offensive side of the ball: Cook, Britt, Quick, Robinson, Foles (a good trade, but a bad decision on the long-term deal) etc. I don’t foresee this changing, and I agree that the keep-it-close-and-hope-for-a-big-play philosophy is unlikely to produce anything better .500 mediocrity.
I would have fired him after last season.
Well, apparently, Fisher relies on a FIVE year
plan, Trench
Sigh.
Year five, comin up.
w
vBuncha’ spoiled ingrates on this board, tell ya what.
Fisher could have been on a 10 year plan, ya know. But instead, he’s doing it in 5. Yet that garners no gratitude from the likes of you.
I don’t know where you get it but I can’t believe wvmom raised you to be that way.

nittany ramModeratorI wish there was a realistic way to keep both TruJo and Jenks now that they are both emerging as top CBs. Those two along with Gaines, Joyner, Roberson…talk about an embarrassment of riches.

nittany ramModeratorI think the main difference was, there were just fewer mistakes. Part of firing Cigz was just a shock treatment. Wake up call.
Yeah, I think the ‘wake up call’ was the biggest part of it. The offense still has massive problems but at least now they have enough offense to suffice against teams like Tampa and San Francisco as long as they continue to get great performances from the defense.
Seattle will be an ugly loss but they should be able to finish the season on a relatively strong note.
nittany ramModeratorTo me it sounds like things they were saying in 2011.
So, from a maturation standpoint they are roughly at the same level they were in 2011?
Nice…
nittany ramModeratorI wouldn’t take anything future nittany says seriously. After the Lions game he nearly drowns in his own tears and his brain is deprived of oxygen for 10 minutes.
Wait. Only future Nittany could say that, since it involves knowledge of the future.
So…do we take it seriously?
Well, I only know about that because future zn came back to the present and warned me about it. You’ll be relieved to know you’re quite happy in the future. Of course, that only happens after you dump the Rams and focus all of your energy on your true love…competitive macrame.
nittany ramModeratorAnd that right there happens to be the play
where Pead is still a Ram. And on that play he spun around
four times and then went the wrong way and scored
in the wrong end-zone.w
vYeah, right. Like Pead could do all that without fumbling first.
Nice try wv, but once again you were betrayed by your Carson-esque connection to reality.
You know Nothing about the Future.
I know this because I’ve discussed it
with Future-nittany. And Future-nittany
agrees with wv-in-the-past.In the distant Future, the footballs
are made of small fuzzy white cloth.
They are much easier to hold onto.w

Unfortunately, future Foles is no more accurate a thrower than present Foles…

nittany ramModeratorTime travel being a hobby of mine I’ve been to the future and have seen the outcome of this game. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but here’s a teaser…the Rams score first!
nittany ramModeratorGlad you’re home and doing better, Mac.
nittany ramModeratorThis rivalry has lost its luster since the retirements of Alan Alda and Warren Beatty.

nittany ramModeratorI’m thinking the next Seattle game, might
be so bad the offense will score in Negative-numbers.
Has that ever happened? Has an offense ever
actually broke through the fabric of algebra
and scored in Minus-Integers ?w
vWell, we’ll never know because Boras probably already has this thing figured out. They’ll probably hang 40 on the Seahawks.
nittany ramModeratorBoras…now THAT’s a name. It would be a good name for a gladiator.
I think his name alone is good for an extra TD or two a game.
And ya gotta’ like the cut of his jib.

Now that’s the look of a guy who’s mission in life is to ‘by Gawd get things done!”
He’s here to chew bubblegum and kick ass and he’s all outta’ bubblegum.——————-
Exactly. The Offense is Saved.
Rams 9
Lions 32w
vBoras is probably pissed that he was given the job. Now his name will be forever linked with that crapfest of an offense too.
nittany ramModeratorWell, I think there was a wee bit of improvement with Carson, but nothing significant.
Man, Bud Carson did NOT think highly of Kevin Carter.
———————
Well, Boras the Bold, will make mince-meat out of this league.
He will burn this league like a sausage in a refinery fire,
he will make this league sit up like dark clouds on a stormy night
and rue the day the heard the name…Boras……sorry….I’m
channeling Zooey’s students again…w

nittany ramModeratorIt’s hard to say what the change will be because they went from one first-time coordinator to another first-time coordinator. Plus of course in terms of the offensive system they couldn’t possibly tweak THAT during the season.
However, one change ought to be in individual play, because one point of firing a coordinator during the season is to send a shock through the team.
I remember when the Giunta-Defense was so horrific that I couldn’t watch it.
It was about the same level as the Cignetti-Offense.
And Martzy got desperate and brought in Bud Carson — the legend. As i recall
the legend didn’t do any good.Maybe Boras will fare better. All things are Possible. Long Live Boras.

nittany ramModeratorThe NFL needs to stop drafting players from these spread offenses. Top recruits want to play for programs that give them the best shot to get to the pros so they’ll gravitate towards those that utilize more traditional styles.
nittany ramModeratorWell, I for one, am ecstatic that Boras has finally ascended to his rightful perch overlooking this tire fire of an offense.
With Boras at OC, Foles and/or Keenum will throw for 350 yds and 3 TDs and Gurley will run for 150 yds and 2 TDs…
over the remainder of the season.
nittany ramModeratorWow.
Well, I guess they felt like might as well give someone else a shot.
Wasn’t Boras like 1B on the hiring list this offseason?
I personally don’t blame the OC. What the hell does he have to work with?
Yeah, how much of the problem was due to Cignetti is debatable. Is he a scapegoat or was he a real issue? I’m not sure. There were no complaints about Cignetti before Foles’ meltdown in Green Bay. But he wasn’t able to fix Foles either.
nittany ramModeratorBrady is driving the Pats downfield in Overtime in the Super Bowl.
He takes a hard hit. Who the hell knows if he has a Concussion.
He says he’s fine — but a guy in a booth pulls him.
His back-up throws an INT.What would you call that?
w
vPoetic justice.
nittany ramModeratorWatching the hapless Browns makes me think: “It could be worse–I could be a Browns fan.”
I am starting to feel like that is about ALL that Rams fans have these days. At least they aren’t the Browns.
As I grew up, the Rams were feared and respected. From the late 60s until 1990, the Rams were one of the most respected teams in the league.
Now – I realize – there are millions of football fans who have think of the Rams as a perpetual doormat to the league, with the exception of the brief candle that was the GSOT.
I am tired of this shit.
Interesting to consider the difference in how the Rams were perceived on the west coast compared to the east coast.
When I was growing up in central PA during the 70’s, the Rams weren’t highly regarded by a lot of people. I’m sure this was mostly due to the fact that we never got to see them play. On those rare occasions when we did get to see them they were usually losing a playoff game. The perception was they couldn’t win big games, so they garnered little respect. People had the impression that the Rams padded their record against the weaklings in their division (Falcons, 49’ers and Saints) and then were exposed in the playoffs. Of course, constantly having to fight this perception was no fun.
But somehow I endured. Somehow I remained a Rams fan.
Uh, yay?
nittany ramModeratorThe Rams are a mediocre QB away from contending. I take it for granted that the OL will be better next year. A decent OL and a mediocre passing game is enough to win games with the defense (should it stay pat). That is all the Rams needed this year.
A #1 WR would help a lot, but the biggest need is a QB who can rate in the upper 80s, low 90s.
That could be as close as Sean Mannion, and as far away as the final Star Wars film.
Yeah, if Mannion can play, that would help things along nicely. Problem is, we’re not going to know if he can play or not prior to next season. I think they need to draft a QB high. They need a guy who can start as a rookie. If Mannion or Foles step up then great, but I’m not willing to wait and see on them.
nittany ramModeratorSorry that people are ignoring your question and instead spouting off about their opinions on the state of the Rams.
To answer your question, it all depends on your point of reference. For example, for me in Bennington, VT, the Rams are 1058.3 miles away. For you in Morgantown, WV, they are 647.7 miles away.
Hope that helps.
Seriously, this team is a good o-line, a competent QB and a good WR away from contention. How far away that is depends. If the raw materials to fix the o-line are already in place and just need experience and to get healthy, then the distance away from contention is a little shorter. As you know you’ll get varying opinions on that but I think they need a LT.
I think it’s safe to say that the QB they need is probably not on the roster. Neither is the WR. Obviously the Rams luck would have to dramatically change for them to fix both in a
single offseason. Could the light turn on for Foles and Robinson in that time? Yeah but I don’t think it’s likely. Doesn’t look like there are decent FA options for QB so the Rams will have to take their chances in the draft. A good WR should be easy enough to get through the draft or FA, but Snisher hasn’t demonstrated that they know what a good one looks like yet. So I think they are most likely at least another year away from contention. If they get really lucky perhaps they could contend next season but I think that’s a tall order as of now.-
