    again i like the pick.

and what caught my eye was that apparently he is calling plays for the defense already?

i think with this guy it’s all about the stuff you can’t measure. he’s smart. he’s tough. he’s a leader.

Looks like rookie linebacker Ernest Jones calling shots on LA Rams D

i feel confident about this oline. for this year only. and then. i don’t know.

even if evans doesn’t cut the mustard, i bet that there’s at least one olineman capable of taking over for him.

but next year and beyond? hmmm… it could get ugly.

No NFL team ran jet motion more than the Rams last season (293 snaps). From 2019/20, here’s Tutu Atwell’s ranks on jet motion among all CFB players:

    29 targets (1st)
    285 yards (1st)
    28 receptions (1st)
    14.1 YAC/reception (2nd, min. 10 targets)

    They’re 100% gonna have a plan.

if he can be what tavon was supposed to be, i’ll be happy.

Rams rook Bobby Brown III is ready to learn everything he can from @AaronDonald97

the thought of donald and brown playing on the same line has me excited. not since robert quinn has donald played with a guy with that caliber of physical ability. no he’s not the same type of athlete that quinn was. but he’s the same caliber for what he is able to do.

    so excited.

Among the team’s (Patriots) findings was that widely held beliefs about height & arm length being vital to success were unfounded. “Some of our best players, they didn’t have the requisite quote-unquote length,” Caserio said.

hey. does that mean i have a chance to make the nfl?

    hahahaha!

ya know. this is where we get to see what eric henderson is all about. his strength is supposed to be development. and this guy is just full of potential.

They now have personnel that can make that happen. If the safeties can hold up, this defense might be insane.

i still worry about the linebackers. i actually think the safeties will be fine. burgess will be back. i think he was coming on before he got injured. and fuller should be better than last year.

i think the dline and secondary could be scary good. lots of youth. lots of potential on both units.

but the linebackers seem to be filled with holes. leonard floyd should have one position locked down. but who are the ilbs? i like jones, but he’s a rookie. so we’ll see. and who is the other outside linebacker? lewis and hollins should be competing for that spot. i’m secretly hoping brown can slip in and take an olb spot. i’m telling ya. have him drop 20 pounds. with his length and athleticism i think he could be a competent starter at linebacker.

if they can figure out the linebacker corps, this defense could be dominant. not that they weren’t dominant before. but i mean it could be something to behold.

physically he reminds me of danario alexander. maybe a smidge below him.

but nowhere near his ability as a receiver. at this point.

but i also don’t think you could ask for two better players to emulate and learn from than bobby woods and cooper kupp.

    i hope it works out.

the way he carries the 325 pounds on his frame is unreal. doesn’t really look fat at all.

and the explosion. 33″ vertical. 9’5″ broad. both in the elite category for a player his size.

the player i’m most excited to see this season.

McVay seems to think of Stafford as more of a’clutch problem solver’ than Goff.
Progressions, recognizing coverages. Things Longtime-Veterans know.

i’m excited to see stafford. i mean. i don’t like how it all went down with goff. i wish he was still on the rams.

but that’s nothing against stafford. he’s got great arm talent. he should do fine in this offense. hopefully, he can play beyond the next couple years.

So the situation they’re in is, they need to find a left OT for 2022.

    how about edwards?

you know. i’m sure he’s seen mostly as a st contributor.

but. he’s an interesting prospect. he’s got very good length. very good size.

his speed and agility numbers. not the best. but they are not the worst either. actually, his numbers are only slightly worse than michael strahan. and strahan weighed in at 252 pounds while brown weighed in at 270 pounds. i know. i know. i am not trying to say he’s the next strahan. but he’s got a chance to be more than just an st contributor. i wonder if they couldn’t have him trim down to 250-255 and play outside linebacker. i don’t know. that’s for them to figure out.

but his agility drills in comparison to his 40 time does make me hopeful that he has the athleticism to be a contributor on defense.

Well, he comes in with more cred than that other project TE from the Martz era, that guy who was a tremendous athlete, but played basketball, and the Rams thought they would teach him to play football.

    fendi onobun?

haha. yeah. harris can at least boast more college production than onobun did. and he’s a better athlete than everett.

i’m curious. but i’m also not expecting much.

looking at his frame this guy could easily add 20 pounds.

my only issue is if he can develop fast enough. he’s already 24 and hasn’t played much football at all. that’s a tough ask. but as everyone has already mentioned his special teams at the very least should be an asset.

That article is an excellent recap. Yet it didn’t make me feel any better about the Rams passing on some talented centres in the 2nd and 3rd round.

i agree. and i don’t think the rams fool anyone with tutu.

it was not a good pick. the rest of the draft was good though.

The average 10-yard split for a Pro Bowl edge rusher since 2003? 1.67 seconds

i know you already know this because you bolded it but i think it’s important to emphasize again that this number is for an edge rusher. even crazier when you realize brown is 325 pounds.

for comparison donald ran 1.63. at 285 pounds.

phenomenal for a player his size.

it just sucks that they’re moving him from rg. i thought he played well there.

edwards i keep forgetting is so young. he should have lg all to himself. i’m comfortable with whit at lt and hav at rt. but that rg spot. maybe it is evans.

evans is young too entering his age 24 season.

Not sure what McSnead sees in the current o-line that would preclude adding more depth through the draft. There was nothing about the play of the o-line last season that said to me, “the o-line is perfect just as it is so let’s draft an undersized Tavon Austin clone instead.”

yeah. i wanted to see oline or dline with that second rounder.

i feel good about every position i think except linebacker and oline at this point.

this just looks like a ST draft.

i understand the lower picks being used for special teams, but can the same be said for tutu?

what is his value in special teams? he really didn’t return kicks in college. so… what does that mean for the pros?

    evans?

That’s amazingly high praise. If he ends up anywhere near the level of those guys, then, look the hell out. That would be fantastic.

well. i mean just in terms of athleticism. still up in the air if he can take all that potential and channel it into actual production.

but certainly i think his ceiling is that high.

    Avatar photoInvaderRam

and what’s amazing is he carries those 325 pounds so well. he doesn’t look pumped up. at the same time, he doesn’t look overweight. he’s just a solid 325 pounds. and he’s going to get stronger being only 20 years old. as long as he puts the work in.

a’shawn robinson i assume will be the nose tackle. aaron donald on the right. brown on the left.

and at least stat-wise he really seemed to make a jump forward his last year at school. so he’s going in the right direction. and henderson should be good for him. aaron donald should be good for him. although it’s too bad brockers is gone as he would have been a great mentor to brown as well.

    Avatar photoInvaderRam
    Moderator

I’m assuming btw he’s a DE, not an NT. Brockers’s replacement.

he could play de. athletically he’s a cut above brockers. brockers has the size. but he doesn’t have the athletic ability that brown possesses. this guy is on the level of a calais campbell. jerry tillery. chris jones. deforest buckner. arik armstead.

i like the bit about his fundamentals. he just needs to be developed. and he needs to mature. again. this guy is still only 20 years old. just so much potential.

i also like what you posted about this being a special teams draft. if these guys can at least contribute on special teams, that’s good. but they also have the potential to develop into more.
