InvaderRamModeratorMatthew Stafford has completed 64% of his passes for 1,250 yards, 13 touchdowns, and only two interceptions since the Los Angeles Rams exited their bye week in Week 10. Besides those numbers, the advanced metrics show just how good Stafford has been for the Rams in recent weeks.
not trying to poo poo what stafford has done but his turnaround really began the next week when kyren williams came back. his first week after the bye was not that great.
InvaderRamModeratori would just add about kyren. first of all i agree. it’s the vision and instincts and burst and decisiveness that standout about williams. and i agree he doesn’t have elite size and speed and strength. it’s probably why he’ll never have any one play that just jumps out like todd gurley would regularly break out. but he’s just so unbelievably consistent. like a metronome. and it makes this offense run so much smoother. gurley didn’t have that level of instinct and vision.
In some ways Williams is the most interesting/fun RB to watch/analyze in a long time.
yeah.

Most rushing YPG by an RB during Sean McVay’s tenure:
Todd Gurley – 89.4 (2018)
Kyren Williams – 89.0 (2023)
Todd Gurley – 87.0 (2017)
well it’s actually now 95.3 yards per game after yesterday.

InvaderRamModeratoralso thought bobby brown was solid.
allen had a good catch and run. had at least a couple good blocks. really rooting for him to win that te2 job.
InvaderRamModeratorsloppy game. yet the rams still had control of the game for the most part.
and kyren williams. wow. i know he had the two fumbles, but he makes this oline better. he makes stafford and the whole offense better. i am amazed watching him run.
InvaderRamModeratorman. if the rams have a knack for finding wrs in the lower rounds (see kupp and nacua). and defensive backs… well that’s a good knack to have. hahahaha.
InvaderRamModeratorhonestly not even paying attention to the playoff picture. just want to see if the rams can win the next three games. that’d be a great way to go into the niners game.
InvaderRamModeratorIt aint the GSOT, but its evolving into somethin damn-solid.
it’s kinda like mcvay’s first season with gurley. i just don’t see this team letting down.
donald, stafford, kupp, kyren, puka… i don’t see these guys letting this team take their foot off the pedal. but who knows? it’s a young team. so i suppose it could happen.
Is there such a thing as a letdown near the end of the season when a team is in the playoff hunt and every game counts?
i don’t know. i think it is possible. especially with a young team. maybe letdown is the wrong word? i’m sure they’ll be motivated. but there’s probably some level of emotional maturity involved in being in such a tight race this late in the season? physical endurance? these guys are young. not all of them are used to still playing high intensity football past 13 games. they’ve exerted a lot of energy to get to this point. when you are that physically and mentally exhausted and you haven’t played this much competitive football for as many games as they have, mistakes can start to creep in. concentration can waver i would assume. i don’t know. i’ve never been in the situation these guys are in. should be fun to watch.
InvaderRamModeratorthe other thing that should be stated is the rams were +1 in turnovers. stafford could have easily thrown at least one interception. i can’t remember if that drive directly led to a rams’ score. so the rams did get a little lucky. still an impressive game against a very good team.
InvaderRamModeratorthere shouldn’t be a letdown. i just don’t see it.
InvaderRamModeratoranother thing i want to see. how stafford integrates both kupp and nacua into the offense. it’s been slow so far but i gotta think they’ll figure it out. was this the best they’ve looked with both in the lineup? i think they’ll get better too.

InvaderRamModeratorYeah probably. I want to see how his blocking looks.
definitely too early but i think at the very least he’ll be getting more opportunities as the end of the season approaching. and not just throw away games. every game will be important ones.

InvaderRamModeratorit’s too early to say at this point. but with long out. and i don’t know what the status of higbee is at this point. might we get a closer look at davis allen these last four games?
InvaderRamModeratorit should also be noted that the ravens were coming off a bye week.
InvaderRamModeratorLegitimately. This team is real. And I can’t wait for next year.
yeah. it’s weird. that’s why i’m not that disappointed. in other years a loss like this would have crushed me.
InvaderRamModeratorDavis Allen looks like a solid starter at TE, and came up big, but missed a key catch at the end. He’s not the fastest TE in the world, but has a freakish catch radius, and plays hard. Gotta gain some weight/strength. But he’s got a future with the Rams.
yeah. i don’t know how good he actually will be or if he’ll even stick. but i did like his profile when they drafted him. he looked like a decent prospect. i really do hope he can be at least a solid contributor. pair him up with higbee on some 12 personnel. and he’s only 22. so he’s got plenty more development in him i would think. we saw some of his explosiveness in this game. there was a play when he hurdled a defender. i think he even made a leaping catch at one point. he could be a good red zone target.
they got so many skill position players at this point. kupp, puka, atwell, robinson. williams. higbee. and hopefully now allen. just need to strengthen the oline. i wanna see them draft a blue chip left tackle.
and also i wonder what happens with witherspoon. do they attempt to re-sign him? do they just draft another defensive back? i’d tend towards drafting a defensive back. or finding another bargain basement pickup. they seem to be good at identifying talent there.
InvaderRamModeratorwent about as well as i could have expected. the only thing missing was a win.
i just want to say about davis allen. i have no idea how good he can be. but i believe he’s got potential to be a solid contributor. big hands big target. he’s not fast, but he is strong and he’s explosive – 38.5″ vertical and 10’5″ broad. what a draft class 2023 could be. won’t know for awhile but looks good already.
offensive line held up well against a great defense. but they should and more importantly can add talent there in the offseason.
overall i’m as happy as i could be considering they lost.
InvaderRamModeratoryes. losing cam akers has to be at the top of the list of concerns for the rams…
and then after that i’d put a left tackle, edge defender. yeah. kicker would be nice. a defensive lineman. defensive back if they’re going to lose fuller and jj.
but i think we can all agree losing akers will have huge implications if he can’t be replaced.

InvaderRamModeratorwhat’s encouraging is that for the most part the list consists of young players. there’s the possibility they can get better. and hopefully less likely that it’s a fluke.
InvaderRamModeratorThat Bobby Brown tackle. When that happened, I gasped. He didn’t really get a body on him, and I thought for a microsecond that the dude was going to escape the tackle, when all of a sudden, Brown just flicked him backwards like a booger.
outside of aaron donald he is probably the most physically talented player on defense. and according to pff he’s one of the highest performing players this season. and he’s only 23. had a rough two years to start his career, but he’s having a bit of a breakout this year. hoping he can keep progressing. 2024 will be his contract year.
InvaderRamModeratori wanna see them get a winning record. make the playoffs. doesn’t matter much how they do in the playoffs because i don’t think they’re good enough to win a superbowl. but a winning record will tell me that this team is on the right track. that the past two drafts and offseasons were home runs.
Will be an interesting off-season.
yeah. they’re gonna have to hit another home run. should be exciting.
InvaderRamModeratori just wanna talk about bobby brown iii a little bit. i think he’s been solid this year. according to pff, he’s been one of the highest graded performers for the rams on defense. he’s only 23. and he’s got the kind of size and potential rarely seen at any position. and oh yeah. he’s only 23 years old. loved it when he made that tackle for loss and henderson was all over him. looked so happy for him. hopefully, he can continue to build on his game. and oh yeah. he’s only 23 years old.
InvaderRamModeratorIt appears that he is a difference-maker in this offense.
yeah. all the hype seems to be around puka but kyren is the biggest revelation of this offense.

InvaderRamModeratorPuka Nacua reached the third-fastest maximum speed of all ball-carriers in the NFL (prior to the Packers-Chiefs game) in week 13 (per @NextGenStats). This is the 19th-fastest maximum speed of ANY player throughout the ENTIRE SEASON. 🏃💨 pic.twitter.com/LrH1U7ke7p

InvaderRamModeratorIf you took away Steven Jackson’s body, with its size and strength and speed, you’d be left with his internal essence of determined will. In other words. Kyren Williams.
so you’re saying kyren williams is the concentrate they made steven jackson from. ha!
but i do love this guy’s will. i agree. at this point of the season i’d go so far as to say he is the rams’ offensive mvp.
InvaderRamModeratorThe Rams are playing into December, and that’s very cool. I’d like to think that they have a chance against the Ravens, but they don’t. I’ll be happy if the Rams make a game of it.
i agree. and i agree about how close the game actually was.
InvaderRamModeratorRams Oline played great today
they did. i’m not entirely sure i trust jackson though. i do admit though that he played tough against myles garrett – although a myles garrett who was likely not 100%.

InvaderRamModeratorMy prediction for the Rams back in August was 3 to 5 wins
that was my prediction too. but i had no idea nacua would be as good as he is. same with kyren williams. kobie turner. steve avila. dotson and witherspoon. this very young secondary. byron young has potential.
i still think they need to shore up the oline. the front seven needs some fortification. but these last two drafts have answered a lot of questions for me. i did not expect this. i expected some to hit. but not to this degree.
InvaderRamModeratorwow. what a performance. flacco looked solid through three quarters but went completely flaccid in the fourth quarter.
nacua is tough. these young players. these under the radar pickups all showed up. kobie turner. on fire. we could go on probably. so happy.
InvaderRamModeratorSo it’s possible they could have up to 76 or 77 M.
wow. i mean. could they sign a guy like brian burns? i know they were interested in him before. i don’t know if he gets tagged or what. or how much he would command. but shoot. i’d feel more comfortable with the rams signing a veteran. especially with burn still being young. he’s probable just entering his prime years. shoot. they’ll probably tag him. would they have to give up multiple first round picks for him?
my brain is exploding.
