Never lived in the Cleveland, Anaheim, LA or St. Louis. I am just a vagabond Rams fan who will cheer for them regardless of where they play.

My heart goes out to those of you like DAK who feel so sad on this day.

They need mid-grade QB play. That and some health should be enough to get to 10.

They should be able to keep most of the components of the defense together with their salary cap space.
I’m assuming they get improvement out of half of all the olinemen they picked up the last two years.

To get to more than 10 I think they’d also need one really good, legit WR.

    QB is an imperative.

I don’t believe the QB or the wr are currently on the roster.

Maybe they can trade one of their seconds for someone’s number 2 QB. Whose got a good one?

I imagine we will lose at Arizona, Seattle and Green Bay. The rest of them we have a chance to win. If your OL can play even close to middle of the pack by the end of the first quarter of the season and you start out to into, barring a rash of injuries, I believe we will win 10 or 11 games.

I am glad that lyser and his potty mouth are planning on going to heaven, it gives me more hope.

No injuries including a healthy QB? I’m going 11 and five with that.

    “…He’s paying attention…his effort…”

I take that to mean he was less dedicated before this year thinking he could get by more on his natural athleticism. Figuring that out may be something some gifted athletes have to learn, but I’d guess from all we’ve heard that he is more focused this year.

Running a lot and passing very effectively.

Having a great enough defense that the opposing quarterbacks pass efficiency is worse than your own.

Per this article, the Rams are building a team best prepared to win today.

Doesn’t matter how many yards you gain running or passing (although more yards doesn’t hurt) what matters is that you run often and you’re passing efficiency is better than the opposing teams.

Is he a mauler? A good guard but I am not sure his style of play will fit this tea.

It probably has something to do with athleticism, size and long arms, but what do you think he really meant by that comment?

They have some serious young talent due to the extra picks from the RG3 trade and added to it this year with the cap savings from the Bradford trade. Plus, none of them are rookies and the coordinator is going into his second year with the team.

Provided the offense can be close to average and they don’t suffer an undue amount of injuries, they should be a top 5 defense. Anything else would be disappointing.

Good talented death at multiple positions even though they are young makes me optimistic. Plus they have not yet sustain any serious injuries.

I think we should just figure out each week when we game plan how to score more points than the other team.

We’ll be okay if the line stays healthy and if one of our three center candidates steps up.

That’s two big ifs. Too much to make me confident.

I like that they seem to go for extremely athletic potential all pros in the first round and did it again this year. I am very glad they did not reach to fill a position of need it in the first round.

Love that they went ugly early with offense lineman who have experience and look good on tape. If even two of them work out, the Rams will be in good shape for the next couple of years provided they get adequate quarterback play.

I appreciate how they drafted for their philosophy this year and that they stand a good chance of simply wearing teams out by the fourth quarter of games in the near future.

I do not believe Manion will be a good professional because he is slow to read and slow to throw. However, he is very tall and if they can work on his mechanics and have a good running game so he can do play action, he may be good.

Overall I love drafting a bunch of big uglies!

I am buying it in the top couple of rounds or the talent can be very high except for a few low density positions if you already have a young All-Pro there like Center or tight end. Otherwise if you have someone that is truly that much higher rank than everyone else even if it is not a position of need then you should take them. If you do not need them this year he will in one or two years.

Very good starting quality offense of guards can be handled through the third round of this draft and they can always add a little bit to the money they are offering a Barksdale to get him to sign .

I think Mason started the first 4-8 games of the season. Gurley will probably start the 2nd half, but having Mason come in for 10-12 carries a game keeps the play action pass game going.

It’s a deep draft for Olinemen, just not many that projected as strong first rounders.

ESPN said the Rams had Mariota 1 and Gurley 2. Regardless, if one of your top two guys is on the board at 10, you take him.

Unexpected pick. But, if he comes back healthy (read a report that it was a clean ACL tear meaning not a lot of other collateral damage) and he’s projected as the best back since Adrian Peterson then it makes sense. BPA and fits with the team identity.

Can get some damn fine Guards and centers in the 2nd and 3rd rounds this year. This draft is deep in interior lineman and I expect they will take at least one in the next two rounds and probably another by the end of the draft.

Glad we didn’t reach for Oline help.

Bet we come up with something Barksdale will agree to within the next couple of weeks. 🙂

I think he is probably somewhere in the top 20 or so right tackles in the league. Maybe top 25 but he does know our scheme coaches and players. Good enough to not be a hindrance if the rest of the law line is solid.

I’d give him 4 million a year if I was a billionaire and had that much pocket change and Space.

If he drops within range they should consider it. Giving him a redshirt year behind Foles would be the perfect start to this very hard working young player’s career.

I would have paid more for Massey to come back. Still, if it is for the vet minimum it is probably a smart move. he knows the system, is a year older and stronger and can compete for a backup job.

Well what the heck, I vote for giving him the less money now and not waiting until the draft

Jack, Mariota played in a spread in college and, imo, would best be served by a redshirt year, but I disagree that he is a spread QB. I also do not think that if Bradford had been able to stay healthy that we’d be talking about him as a “spread” QB. Compare Bradfords rookie numbers to most rookie QBs even those that became elite. They match up very well.

Mariota is bright, dedicated, a very hard worker and the consumate teammate. He also likes to win. He has a lively enough arm, throws pretty accurately on the move while keeping his eyes downfield and has great escapability. I have little doubt he will become comfortable taking snaps and being a pocket passer if that is what is asked of him. He work ethic is on the high end.

Whether he will make it is another thing because there are so many intangibles that go into QBing in the NFL. But Mariota does have an awful lot of intangibles going for him. 🙂

I really do not think Huntley is going to make a good NFL quarterback. I watched a bunch of his games this year and he just does not seem to have it. He is athletic but I believe he lacks patience, speed of processing information and accuracy.

I do not know anything about Grayson.

Cheap back up guard and third string right tackle. Worked with our own line coach before a couple of years ago

    And hacksaw’s son!

    Count me in. 🙂

Good trade in my opinion because of Bradford’s injury history. We were giving him too much to take the chance on him if we could come away with a decent alternative. With this trade, we have a decent alternative.

Fairly was a beast inside pass rusher and disrupter in college. He’s also a little bit of a knucklehead who doesn’t always work as hard as he should which is also evident in his weight problems.

    A perfect Fisher project.

I’d take Mariota if he is there at 10 exactly because he wouldn’t have to play this year. The kid is smart and will put in the work during a redshirt year.

I wouldn’t take any other QB in this draft earlier than the 4th round. I just don’t see any of them as being great prospects.

Not sold on Mannion at all and I’m an Oregon State alum. He’s slow to make decisions and throw the ball.

Good size, arm strength and decent velocity, but a little too much of a statue.

Just don’t think he will ever be better than a below average backup.

If you believe Bradford can’t stay healthy, then this is an excellent trade. Between college and the pros he has lost three seasons already.

I think he is a risk with a giant hit to the salary cap this year. So, while I believe it was best to roll the dice with him last year, I think it more prudent at his salary cap hit to make this trade this year. You can buy a lot of solid interior lineman with the money they just saved.

Foles is probably an average starting QB. Somewhere around 15 to 20. If they fix the Oline, resign Brit and get an average starter at CB (things they should be able to afford now in FA, they can complete this year. They still have a lot of young and improving players.

I dunno, straight up it makes enough sense. With the extra 2nd rounder next year, it is even better.

Assuming Foles passes his physical, why not resign him for the next 4-5 years at around his current salary. High priced for a backup, but no crazy and extremely low if he starts. Then draft a rookie every year and see what you can develop. Spend the extra salary cap on resigning those you want to keep from the current roster into a second contract. Seems like a decent plan and if Foles does develop into a top 10-15 QB the team is pretty set into the future.

I’m originally an Oregonian and watched a lot of PAC 12 this year.

No way I would take Huntley. He has the physical skills, but he doesn’t process information very fast. If his first read isn’t there, everything breaks down for him and he is either inaccurate or runs. Not an NFL QB.

Wouldn’t take Mannion. NFL size and arm, but everything is slow with him. He won’t make it with the speed of the NFL game. He just won’t.

Mariota is the real deal, but the Rams have no shot. He needs a year or two in order to get used to taking snaps under center, but no one will out work him. He will put in the time and effort. His reads are quick and decisive (head coach said standing behind Mariota in practice that Mariota get to the 2nd and 3rd reads as fast as the coach). and he looks to throw first (even often when escaping the pocket he keeps his eyes downfield). He’s a safe bet provided he doesn’t get crushed or injured the first year of two
