    Hekker had another good game.

Goff went through a similar year his first year at Cal and appears to be saying the right things.

We have Donald on our team for next year. With any kind of offense at all, the defense should be top 10.

Legatron can kick from really far away.

All those young olinemen will be going into their third year.

We have some good picks from the second round on.

    What else?

    What else?

makings of a good secondary, with some returns and additions and some experience (including IMO Joyner)

when DE gets Quinn back and some upgrades it will be good

Austin is a bit better as a receiver with Goff

They actually have 3 backs…brown, gurley, BC

They found a middle linebacker who should only get better his second year in the position.

It is possible improve an online to at least average in one year, particularly with a bunch of young(ish) talent already on the roster.

The thing I was thinking was, what if any new coach doesn’t like the idea of Barron at OLB.

I like the idea of Tree on the outside and a physically tougher (that’s -ER, Tree is not untough) and more instinctive MLB inside.

I agree on the OL. For example not many Rams fans realize PFF graded Donnal fairly high at guard. So there are pieces to work with.

AND a lot of the problems with blitzes go to the QB. CK the veteran was not sacked at the same rate as JG, behind the same OL. A lot of that goes to the qb seeing and responding to blitzes.

Anyway those are all minor points.

Mostly, I commend you for putting up a “positives” thread.

Yea…I agree…thanks for puttin up a positives thread.

    I’ll go with:

    1) Hav at RT is a win. I think he’s been struggling with an injury all year and they finally decided to shut him down. I think when healthy he’s a solid building block.

    2) As Zn mentioned..Donnal took over the guard position and graded high. He could also be a keeper going forward.

    3) Wait for it…GROB…will be a positive when moved inside. I’m convinced tackle is not his position and when moved inside he will blossom.

    4) The special teams are very good. Playoff quality good.

    5) I believe the Gurley we saw year 1 is the real Gurley.

    6) I like Higbee and think he needed a year to get ready. I know he’s not a great blocker but he has elite hands and will become a great friend to Goff.

    7) Speaking of Goff…I like the way this guy gets back up, dusts himself off, and goes right back to work…he’s a tough guy. He also has a short memory apparently and he’s gonna need it after this year. He’s #7 on this list because he didn’t show alot but he did show some…enough for me to think he’s gonna get better and better.

    8) Almost forgot…Thomas as a wr is gonna show up next year. He needs to work on his hands this off-season but then he’s gonna be a weapon.

Thank you, that made me smile.

If the new coach moves Barron, which may be unwise as he is pretty good there, then we need to get another linebacker. Which one depends on what they do with Tree.

Most important acquisition this year is someone who is good with young QBs.

Sorry to piss on the parade, but if Donnal and Hav are the guards, where exactly do they move GRob inside to? Will one of the three play center?

Do we go with Goff and Mannion at QB (I think we should)?

The specials were special, but I think a lot of that has to do with the coordinator. Can they / will they keep Fassel?

    Who plays LT?

1.This season is over and we don’t have to watch the ugliness anymore
    2. A fresh set of eyes and minds could yield a much better team in a word, hope.
    3.Easier schedule next season.
    4. Goff survived rookie season

    Havenstein stays at RT.

Battle was supposed to be a two year project…? I think it is even money Grob stays at LT.

mannion is still an unknown. He hasn’t flunked yet and could still get a…passing grade. 🙂
