    My god–what a nightmare trying to get through to Equifax to find out if you were affected. I pretty much just assume I was. The credit reporting agencies are swamped with calls and their websites aren’t working too well.

    It is astonishing these private businesses have this sort of power over everyone’s lives.

    Those social security numbers are out there forever.

    Now it’s OUR responsibility to protect ourselves and lucky for us–they will even SELL us protection. What a joke. It smells like a protection racket: “Gee, uh…Mr. Jones…I’d hate to see something happen to your barber shop here. Maybe you want to pay us to protect you?”

    Just terrible.
