    He wants a Marshall Plan for Russia. And then says Russia’s own aggressive involvement in things like the election don’t matter, that’s over, it’s done, move on. Problem is, that’s not over for the people here who resented it. So who would ever support a Marshall Plan type policy? The only thing he’s left with is cajoling about war. Russia backed into a corner, lashing out. Now he was speaking his mind, and not offering a speech or an essay, but as such he does what we all do when we speak our minds passionately—he is allowing contradictory ways of seeing to co-exist in his mind. So he talks of the Russian threat and says forget about that and just make up and give them some economic assistance and hope, or they just might kill you. (Deliberate hyperbole on my part.) So to me that interview was a big collection of clashing and contradictory perceptions.
