    2015 50.0% catch percentage, 4.2% drop percentage
    2016 79.1% catch percentage, 6.9% drop percentage

    Quick
    2015 31.3% catch percentage, 3.1% drop percentage
    2016 61.1% catch percentage, 0% drop percentage

    What about Austin though.

    2016 51.1%% catch percentage, 8.9% drop percentage

    He was not great in the first place but his catches have gone down with his drops going up. That may just be a function of using him more as a traditional receiver. It seems to me he is doing more of that this year. Last year he had 87 targets, or 5.4375 a game. This year after 6 games it’s 45 targets, or 9 a game. That’s around a 40% increase in targets per game.

    Plus this year he doesn’t seem to have the chemistry with Keenum. You know what though, they DID have it last year in the last 4 games. Last year, in those last games, with Keenum throwing, TA had 11 targets and 10 catches.

    It seems to me that like Gurley, and like the OL, this CK/TA disconnect is a function of starting the season off out of sync. I am starting to get a theory in my head about why that is.

    I have certainly liked the routes they are running now as opposed to the last few years.

    The wide receivers are able to get YAC or RAC now…they are throwing that quick slant off the line vice the line of scrimmage screen.

    The more Groh’s influence becomes apparent the better this air game will be IMO.

    Although I’ve seen things I like I’m not sold on the Groh, Boras offense yet or on their ability to run it.

    I won’t be sold until the Rams no longer field the worst offense in the league (and yes, I’m aware they aren’t statistically the worst if you eliminate the 9’ers game).

    Fix the running game…then I’ll start to believe.

    Right now, the Rams O-line is just flat getting beat. I thought it was stacked lines, but apparently that’s not the case. The defenders are still close in but the line really isn’t helping TG out

    Yeah, the Rams o-line is not getting it done in the running game going back 13 games. It’s frustrating because the talent level (at least on paper) seems to be much better than the performances we’re seeing.

    Yes, that would help.

    And then, impose your will offensively at the end of a game, as opposed to going 3 and out and hoping your defense can close it out.

    that’s what i’m curious about. are they playing to the strengths of their players or forcing them into a scheme to which they are not suited?

    i have no idea. but i wonder.

    Yea…and it could be new assignments they aren’t 100% comfortable with. In other words thinking instead of playing.

    I can’t quite put my finger on it yet but I’m leaning some towards Zn’s theory and some to the players aren’t up to par and replacements will need to looked at for the future.

    I think the odds of that are remote at best. Boudreau has been coaching these guys since 2012. Boras has been a Rams coach for that long too. What are the odds they suddenly out of nowhere started mistaking what their own players are capable of and what they’re not.

    Plus they acquired most of these players SINCE 2012. When they acquire players, they look for scheme fit.
