Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald on Sports Illustrated cover again

    http://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/heat-index/2016/08/24/cardinals-larry-fitzgerald-sports-illustrated-cover-again/89269528/

Tuesday was a big day for the Arizona Cardinals and Larry Fitzgerald, at least in terms of Sports Illustrated.

The publication picked the team to win the Super Bowl.

Larry Fitzgerald also graced the cover of the magazine for the sixth time.

The Fitzgerald display is not nationwide; it’s one of four regional covers (the Panthers, Broncos and Steelers are the other three) as the Aug. 29-Sept. 5 edition.

Still, that’s pretty cool (unless you believe in the SI cover jinx, but that’s a different story).

As for the Cardinals being picked to win the Super Bowl, SI’s Greg Bedard has Arizona beating the Steelers 40-37.

He writes: “In an Arizona-Pittsburgh rematch of Super Bowl XLIII, the Cardinals’ dangerous running game and stifling secondary will slow down the Steelers enough to grab a dramatic victory. How about a Larry Fitzgerald toe-touch TD in the back-right corner of the NRG Stadium end zone to match Santonio Holmes’s heroics eight years earlier, in Tampa? Sounds good to me.”

Not all of Bedard’s piece raves about the Cardinals, however.

He also wrote this: “That leaves the Cardinals, who I see as having three crucial weaknesses: the strategic shortcomings of coach Bruce Arians, who nearly choked away a divisional-round game against Green Bay last January; the poise of Palmer, who was stellar in the regular season and then embarrassed himself in the title game against Carolina; and the presence of center A.Q. Shipley, who’s no better than a replacement-level player. (Just ask the 2013 Ravens about how a poor center can torpedo a season.)”

Hey, you can’t have everything, right?

So should Cardinals fans feel good about Bedard’s pick?

Well, last season he had the Cardinals going 5-11, including losing 10 games in a row from Week 3-13.

We’re pretty sure Cardinals fans hope he is a lot closer with his prediction this time around.

I actually watched their preseason games and they look horrible. That of course means squat but Palmer looked much worse than his back up did and the OL was not good at all.
