Assuming the Rams play
16 games next season in the
Old Coliseum,
are there any pros or cons about that?I mean, zn has noted that some folks think the
Rams D might be slower on grass. Yes? No?Are the Rams built for a Dome? I dont
think so.Can this team win in the Coliseum?

vWell it’s not the most solid piece of architecture. it was damaged by a major fire caused by lightning in 217 AD. It was repaired by 240 AD, was in use for a couple of centuries, but damaged by a major earthquake in 443 AD. The original builders had a term for that–they called it “likeus Ramsus offensivelineus injuriums maximus,” which means “prone to continuous astounding bad luck.”
Plus it was trashed by Vandals.

January 13, 2016 at 8:38 pm #37224InvaderRamModeratorthat’s a good question. i have no idea.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/splits/_/name/stl
passing – advantage turf
rushing – advantage grasson defense it’s hard to tell cuz i don’t know how many games the rams played on grass this season.
if i’m to assume that the rams played four games on grass and twelve on turf, then the stats seem to be fairly equal.
so yeah. i have no idea.
January 13, 2016 at 9:09 pm #37227ZooeyModeratorI had season tickets in the coliseum in the 80s.
i don’t really have anything else to add to that.

vWell, I’m not a football expert but I’m guessing 16 home games next season would be considered a pro.

That Kronky is shrewd. Getting 16 home games
was a double-secret part of the deal.I guess the 49er Rivalry will heat up again,
now. Maybe. It might be interesting to play
the Raiders and Chargers too.w
vJanuary 14, 2016 at 12:18 am #37238NERamParticipantI think I’d like to understand this whole issue of turf toe a lil better.
I mean, is grass better or worse for turf toe? I think you can get it on turf or grass. I think. Maybe.
I’ve seen games lost, seasons ruined and careers shattered by this horrid injury.
Is the new stadium gonna have grass or turf?? Could our fearless warriors be taken from turf and made to play on grass for a spell, and then rudely yanked off that and sent back to turf again?
Makes ya think, don’t it? Lots to consider.
I have a conspiracy theory that that’s what happened to Massey, BTW. He got injured on turf, only it wasn’t his toe, it was his knuckle, draggin along the turf like that every snap. And then, because turf knuckle wasn’t a commonly accepted ailment, they couldn’t legally put him on IR. And that was it. Pffffft. Gone.

Except the only consequence of Massey dragging his knuckles across the turf would be deep gouges in the stadium floor. Massey can’t be injured.
It’s almost as if you think he’s a mortal or something.
Blaspheme somewhere else, nonbeliever.

And so that’s why the Rams needed a new stadium? It wasn’t really greed after all, just a damaged playing field? Wow, you have restored my faith in humanity, and also NFL owners… Thank you for that.
I shall go outside now, in 25 degree weather, and practice long snapping empty milk containers at the mailbox, in contrite obeisance.
January 14, 2016 at 10:52 am #37261bnwBlockedI hope the Coliseum sewers back up onto the field every time the Rams play. Same for the new StanKium.
The upside to being a Rams fan is heartbreak.
Sprinkles are for winners.

Yes, open mailbox.
From 7 yards away.
With the little red flag sticking up.
