It took me 20 hours over a week. That was good because that was all the time I was going to put in on it. I did it at work during down time. It was original and it isn’t the way the books say. The best thing about it was it works for the cubes that have symbols along with the colors and it works for more the 3 sides. It isn’t the fastest way, but it is a more general solution and I didn’t read any solutions until I had a solution.
No matter what series of moves you make, if you repeat them, they will eventually return to the original position. I didn’t prove the theory, but it worked on everything I did.
Then it is a matter of efficiently finding the patterns that you need to solve the type of cube that is scrambled.

Somehow, Ag, I would have expected that of you.
I can’t draw a tic, tac, toe box much less solve these things without help–and even WITH help it isn’t easy. Trying to remember the sequence to get to a particular state requires a lot more mental activity than I seem to have–so I have to refer to the guide and I’ll still turn something the wrong way once in awhile and have to start over.
I can solve the white square every time though–that’s pretty easy–but flipping it and doing the middle part requires eight moves and I just get lost.
I am amazed by anyone who can figure these things out though. It isn’t easy for all of us.
It’s always interesting to me though–whenever I bang up against a wall of the limits of my intelligence. It’s an odd feeling. I think of someone like Einstein as a superhero in that regard. I don’t have those powers. But I respect those who do.
