Hochman: Rams’ Fisher Should be on ‘Hot Seat’
Brendan Marks posted on November 24, 2015 10:13

St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist Benjamin Hochman joined The Ryan Kelley Morning After to talk some St. Louis sports topics, including the Rams’ quickly-deteriorating season.

We typed up some excerpts from the segment, which you can listen to in full below:

On the Case Keenum concussion controversy, do you think someone let him down?

“No question about. The system let him down. You just hope for Case it’s just one concussion that doesn’t change the course of his career or even worse, his life. Something’s got to change from this. The spotter has to have all the clues to this. If he saw the replays everyone saw at home, clearly he saw a man get concussed.”

How did you think Case Keenum

“He looked like a little better than Nick Foles…not a very good compliment. The only thing I liked better than Foles…is his ability to get out of the pocket faster. But this team is going nowhere fast. The quarterback is vital to the NFL, we all know that. But they got a lemon in Nick Foles. I don’t know (whose fault that is). But Nick Foles stunk this year. Now they’re stuck with his back-up who’s similarly deplorable.”

Think we’ll see Nick Foles as Rams QB again this year?

“If Keenum has one more bad game…at that point (you might as well put Foles back in and develop him in this system and getting more snaps with this offensive line). It’s a sad sentence to say when just a month ago we’re heading into (the Minnesota Vikings) game and we’re talking about one of the hottest teams in football and they could potentially make the playoffs.”

What do you think about Jeff Fisher’s future with the Rams?

“The reality is…before the season began…a couple sources explained to me they weren’t going to fire this guy unless he had like (two wins) or something ridiculous like that. They like him. They like the way he’s going and (he’s coached a relocated NFL team). But I think they should definitely put him on the hot seat. This is disgusting and I haven’t even been around here the last two years. They’re becoming an after thought of the NFL. Something’s got to change. Apparently as we’re learning…it doesn’t matter how good your defense is if you can’t convert on third down.”

Here’s the complete interview (jump to the 16:30-minute mark):
