Seems like Chris Shula won’t get an HC job, while Nate Scheelhaase (CLE) and Mike LaFleur (ARI) will.

    Gonna need to re-tool again.

Rams need to start losing more games. Maybe they could keep some coaches.

Yes. That’s the secret to having a consistently good team. Don’t win as much.

i’m happy if shula is back. i don’t blame him. i think the secondary was overmatched. they need real talent back there.

i was hoping one of scheelhaase or lafleur would be back. losing both would suck, but i’m sure they have a plan.

Cleveland and Arizona are two jobs I would think hard about before taking.

I understand professional ambition, and I get the big dollars, but those are two really bad situations to try to build on, and if you fail… which – sorry – you very well might without course correction that may be out of the HC’s control – you could end up taking the blame, and find yourself unemployed.

Unless Cleveland and/or Arizona offered guaranteed money that set me up for life, I would just wait until next year.

Nathan Scheelhaase won’t be headed to the Browns. At least not as a head coach.

Still a couple openings left, but the odds that the Rams keep Scheelhaase and Chris Shula have gotten a good step better.

35 year-old Scheelhaase is still a year away. And given how good the Rams offense looks for next year, he will have more than one offer to be a head-coach, i would bet.

    Btw, his 40-time is 4.53.

Also — does Mike Shannahan get credit for all of McVay’s coaching branches? If he does then if we add up Kyle’s branch and McVay’s branch, I would think Mike Shannahan is the most influential coach in modern history. Moreso than Andy Reid and Belichex. Maybe. I dunno.

The blue board is underrated in its influence on modern coaching.

Former Rams QB is Eagles new offensive coordinator

    Albert Breer@AlbertBreer
New Eagles OC Sean Mannion played nine years in the league, most recently shuttling back-and-forth b/w the Seahawks and Vikings. He got time, as a player, with Sean McVay and Kevin O’Connell. As a coach, under Matt LaFleur, he was a QC [quality control] last year, and QBs coach this year.

The Raiders plan to interview Seattle OC Klint Kubiak over the weekend and then make a decision on their head coach, per sources.

As one candidate predicted, “it’s probably (Kubiak’s) job to lose.”

The Cardinals are just cursed. They had the no.1 pick in 2019, and they took tiny Kyler Murray. There were zero great QBs in that class. Just bad QB luck.

If they dont find a good QB the coach doesnt matter.

Vikings fired their GM. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.

I would fire anyone who watched JJ McCarthy and decided he was a franchise QB.

    Adofo-Mensa was a Princeton-Stanford-Wall-Street analytics guy, btw.

That’s funny. I don’t remember you calling for Steve Ortmayer’s head when he drafted Tony Banks.

I remember a time, during the 2000 season, when some of us criticized Zygmunt. All hell broke loose. We “upstart haters” were read the full force of the law.

Then in a few years, defending Zygmunt could get you stoned to death. Or worse.

The #Raiders are targeting #Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak as their new head coach, per me and @TomPelissero, after Saturday’s second interview.

Las Vegas can’t officially hire Kubiak until after Super Bowl LX. But they believe they have their guy.

    No black head-coaches hired.

There are 3 black head coaches out of 32, now. T.Bowles, A.Glenn, D.Ryens.

I really don’t think its so bad. One of the nice things about having an offensive-wiz head-coach is the OC isnt as critical. McVay can handle the offense.

Cowherd talks about this all the time. Shanahan, S.Payton, McVay can afford to lose their OCs.

Course Raheem Morris in San Fran, and Lafleur in Ariz DO give those teams more insight into the Rams.

i do wonder how much of an impact lafleur had on the running game this year which is the best it’s been in years.

The San Francisco 49ers are hiring former Falcons head coach Raheem Morris as their next defensive coordinator, sources tell The Athletic.

The expected move, Morris replaces Robert Saleh

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
The job he did coaching up all those young players on the overhauled Rams defense in 2023 still isn’t talked about enough. Really smart move to bring in a teacher of this caliber with the 49ers now being in a similar remodel.

So now that it looks like all the coaches are hired, here is the reality: Three will be really good, three will be OK, two will be below average and two will be really bad. Watch. Figuring out who’s who depends on QB and roster.

Eleven NFL teams have never had a black head-coach.

Rams, Seahawks, Cowboys, Commanders, Bills, Giants, Jaguars, Panthers, Ravens, Saints, and Titans.
