    from https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2020/11/20/rams-defense-tom-brady-aaron-donald-breakdown/

Brady has done his homework on this L.A. defense and he knows just how good it’s playing right now – led by the future Hall of Famer, Donald.

“It’s a top-10 defense in every category,” Brady said in his media session this week. “Aaron Donald is as good as there is probably ever played in the National Football League at D-line. He’s an incredible player, explosive, quick powerful. It’s amazing the production he has even when people are double-teaming him, triple-teaming him but he never lets down. Hard-working guy, you can tell football means a lot to him, but he really sparks that whole defense.”

“Jalen in the secondary,” Brady began. “They’ve got some really good players that maybe some people haven’t heard of that are playing really well. Williams had two picks last week, Johnson’s a really good safety. Fuller’s a really good player. Troy Hill’s a player, I’ve played against him quite a bit. they’re really good. They’re fast, they attack, they’re aggressive, they’re in a good scheme. You don’t have a lot of time as a quarterback to sort things out because this D-line’s on you so quick.”

EDGE Leonard Floyd tallied 11 total pressures against the Seahawks in Week 10

No defender this season has had more than 10 pressures in a single game

    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
Aaron Donald on Darious Williams: “He’s electric. He’s a playmaker. His ball skills are amazing. In prior years he was doing these same things in camp, he just wasn’t starting yet, didn’t get his opportunities. He got a starting job and he gets to share with the world now.”

Donald hinted that this is the best defense he has been on – but, smiling, cautions that we should wait until the end of the season to crown them. “Right now we’re doing some great things, some things that, from a consistency basis, I don’t think I’ve been involved in.”

Except in 33 the bad guys actually won the election. They didn’t try to steal it through bogus ideas about voter fraud.

Great win for the @Seahawks, at a crucial time. That said… the AZCardinals are good. They’ll be a tough out in January. RamsNFL will be in the mix as well.

I am rooting for the Cards tonight. I always root for ex St. Louis teams

I am being much more pragmatic. Of the 2 teams, which one do I want dinged so the Rams have more advantage? I would say Arizona. IMO it’s better for the Rams if Arizona takes the loss.

Looks like OLB Obo Okoronkwo is getting a very extensive on-field workout in with head strength coach

Fans were understandably concerned when Darious Williams landed hard on his shoulder after (another) amazing play – but the Rams CB is out here working today in at least some capacity and went through stretch period/has helmet. Team is in shells today. Injury report out later.

Rams DC Brandon Staley on DL A’Shawn Robinson’s debut: “I thought he gave us everything he had. I thought he played well from an assignment standpoint, and that his effort and energy was exactly where we expected it to be and it will only grow as he continues to practice more.”

Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley was 18 years old when Tom Brady entered the NFL. Asked by a reporter today if he ever thought of one day scheming against Brady, Staley said, “Every day, every day of my life I’ve been thinking about an opportunity like that.”

McVay’s offense is extremely nuanced and requires precision decision making in route adjustments. This is the reason Everett, with all his athletic prowess is only trusted with limited snaps. Reynolds has been given enough time to learn from his many mistakes so that he has grown into his role which reached its apex last week.

The obvious take for me is that McVay ensures the plays run for the youngsters are ones they have the firmest grasp of the concepts and adjustments. Put simply, each may have a dozen plays to study each week so they can effectively contribute.

As to stretching the field, I don’t believe this is a matter of WR talent or speed gap without Cooks. This is a product of McVay limiting exposure to negative plays like we saw against Miami. Part of the reason the OLine is better this year is because McVay is picking his spots better in terms of long developing plays. Woods, Kupp, Reynolds, and Jefferson all run faster than 20mph in pads on the field. They are all adept at double moves. But those are always gambles. There is tremendous wisdom in doing so on only favorable downs and distances.

I am not thrilled to learn that 3 Rams players tested positive.

They are practice squaders though, so it’s not a bad version of this scenario.

    Game 9 analysis … Seahawks

I am always confident playing the Seahawks. We’ve just made a habit of beating them. The one game we didn’t recently (that cost us a playoff spot) I thought Russell played better than I’d ever seen him play against us and GZ missed a 47 yarder that would have won it …

They had been running on offense overdrive and I expected our DBs to shut them down.

    The Truly Amazing

    1) Darious Williams. I felt cool at first when he was being mentioned because I loved his skillset at UAB and thought he had a shot to make a roster. But I’m hard pressed to think of another undrafted CB having the year he is having. He should be a pro bowler this year even as an unknown. There’s another thread that shows that he has the best (41.4) QB rating among all CBs, but it needs to be noted that 4th and 5th place were in the high 50s. That’s a 20 point spread in the top 5 players. His acceleration to and through these diving breakups and INTs are stunning, and his field awareness seems to be improving also. Im no longer interested in even discussing contracts for the “big 3” … I’m only concerned with trying to sneak a cap friendly extension to him before his market value prices him out of our range. I figure we can tender him with a second rounder (after next year at almost no cost) and get an even higher pick for him when a huge offer comes through, but I’d love to get him a big guarantee and signing bonus NOW and spread the damage out over six years. I’m sure the brass is having this discussion also. What was the best play? The peel off TE INT? The PBU on Lockett in the end zone? The diving INT?

    The Great

    2) Floyd’s sacks. First off, sacking Russell isn’t easy. Second, he’s outpacing my guess at 10.5 sacks for the year for him, and IMO is handling the run just fine. I may be out of my depth here, as I didn’t watch him in Chicago, but it seems like he has an extra move or two in comparison to the beginning of the year. I expect a 3rd round comp for him too in a few years.

    3) Terrell Lewis getting more comfy. I like the sacks, I’m not worried about those … I like him getting more snaps.

    4) Ramsey on Metcalf. I had a ton of fun watching them show the inability of Metcalf to uncover. It was satisfying.

    5) Our safeties. As I said before, I don’t think we’ve had a better DB room ever. Multiple injuries, next man up, even Nick Scott, gets it done.

    The Good

    6) Josh Reynolds putting up good tape. He seems to finally be comfortable at this level and is playing well. Happy for him, and for our 3rd rounder in 2022.

    7) Noteboom in and serviceable. Of course we’ll see how he plays when they start game planning for him … but it was a hopeful start.

    8) Akers getting more comfy.

    9) A Shawn getting on the field.

    10) Hekker.

    The Bad

    11) I didn’t like the rushing TD by Collins. We didn’t seem ready to tackle him.

    12) Don’t like losing Rapp during this stretch of games. We’re asking a lot of our depth players. Don’t get me wrong, I have faith that Juju Hughes can come in and get meaningful snaps … I’d just rather have my full compliment against Tom Brady and Kyler Murray.

    13) Goff missed a TD throw to Higbee to go underneath … why he wasn’t ready to throw the six pointer I am not sure, but he can’t miss those.

    14) DH missed running lanes twice.

    15) Another Everett drop.

    The Ugly

    16) Goff’s like 50th fumble.

    17) We are a top ten NFL team with a shot at a deep playoff run, and we don’t have a kicker.
