    Woods and D.Jax on the outside and cooper in the slot with jefferson there as a 4th great option sounds great to me. This offense should be close to the 2017 version of the rams offense as long as Stafford does his thing.

    The skinny: Selected in the second round of the 2020 draft by the Rams out of Florida, Jefferson generated some buzz with his play during training camp and in scrimmages at SoFi Stadium. However, Jefferson never really got an opportunity to shine during the regular season. Jefferson played all 16 games, finishing with 19 receptions for 220 receiving yards and a score and averaging 11.6 yards per reception on 31 targets. He saw action in 250 plays on offense and another 118 on special teams. Jefferson also totaled six catches for 46 yards and a score in the NFC Divisional round playoff loss against the Green Bay Packers.

    Reason for optimism: Jefferson had a handful of entertaining, one-on-one battles with Jalen Ramsey during training camp, winning more than his share. Ramsey, one of the best corners in the league, had this to say about Jefferson’s potential: “He’s not just going to be good, I think he’s going to be a great player in the NFL.” That’s high praise coming from one of the best in the business. Jefferson, the son of current Arizona Cardinals receivers coach Shawn Jefferson, should get more of a chance to show what he can do with Josh Reynolds leaving to join the Tennessee Titans in free agency. At 6-1 and 200 pounds, Jefferson is a polished route runner who reads defenses well, but also has the speed to develop into a vertical threat. Although he didn’t run the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine due to a foot injury, Zebra technology had Jefferson as the fastest player at the Senior Bowl last year with a max speed of 21.05 mph. Receivers typically make a significant leap in development from their rookie year to the second NFL season, so Jefferson should be even more comfortable in Sean McVay’s offense for the upcoming season.

    Reason for concern: Potential needs to turn into production at some point, and the Rams are certainly betting on that to happen with Jefferson entering his second season. Jefferson did have two drops according to Pro Football Focus, so that’s something to watch for next season. Also, you would like to see more than 11.6 yards per reception from someone like Jefferson, who could serve as a deep threat. That number should improve with a good deep ball thrower like Matthew Stafford taking over at quarterback for the Rams.

    The Corbett at center thing…I’ve been adamant that they wouldn’t do it… one reason is that I don’t like the idea of moving around multiple positions.

    But what Snead said on the 11 personnel pod makes me think he really is in the running. He didn’t single out Corbett by name but he did mention the centers they have, Allen and Shelton, along with some other guys who’ve “snapped the ball before”, is what I think his wording was.

    We’ve also heard Rodrigue mention Anchrum more than once as a player who may be ascending.. so.. maybe he’s developed into a solid guard candidate and they’d put him in next to Corbett. He’s got a little more beef in a more compact frame with long arms.. could be interesting.

    The clear implication was that the starting center is on the roster, though.

    Oops, mistake. Quinn was drafted in 2011, the year before Snead was hired.

    Pro Football Focus measured each team’s draft success at every position since 2011 and the Rams were No. 1 in two categories: defensive line and defensive backs.

    Here’s what Timo Riske of PFF wrote about the Rams’ drafting along the defensive line.

    Given how well Les Snead has fared at drafting defensive linemen for his Los Angeles Rams, he might want to consider keeping some picks instead of trading them away. All of his shots at defensive linemen early in the draft developed into at least solid players: Michael Brockers, Robert Quinn and, of course, Aaron Donald.

    I don’t think Center is in play at 57. They just don’t stack up vs the other positions. I will be very surprised if they take center there and in fact if they do there’s a good chance they end up wishing they took multiple other options.

    IMO the key at 57 is taking the absolute best player. Outside of RB. Take the best player who falls to you and adjust from that point with that group that continues into round 3-4.

    I really feel like they aren’t sitting there saying “OMG WE NEED XXXX HERE.” It’s gonna be who’s the best guy.

    That pick is prime real estate for the Rams. They have to get a round 1 talent there. Someone who is high on their board. It will be there and hitting big on a high end talent will make up for that lack of a top pick. I am certain there will be a top OLB, CB, ILB, or OT there. BPA will probably be RB but we don’t need that.

    I wasn’t referring to fighting for the ball. Talking about how he plays in traffic when both the ball and the defender are on their way. If he’s limited that way then they will limit how they can use him.
