@MikePereira: Reading more and more about the rise of illegal contact and defensive holding penalties. The refs are telling players at camps.

This is still the most interesting part of off-season rule enforcement. IF the league (the owners) want this enforced, it’s a huge game changer, imo.

DCs know the best way to shut down the dink and dunk game is to hold WRs. It disrupts the timing. It’s supposed to be illegal, but it’s only illegal if it gets called. And QBs usually take short drops on those dinky plays. Holding WRs throws a wrench into the machinery. Look at how good Seattle’s secondary was last year. Very physical, which means lots of bumping and holding. If a QB takes a short drop and can’t get rid of the ball in about 2 and a half seconds, he’s in trouble.

If the refs start calling holding on DBs, and continue to do so throughout each game, the passing game will open up even more.

The big question for me is, are the refs going to call it consistently every Sunday? Some ref teams call games much differently than others. It won’t take coaches long to figure out which groups call def holding, and which groups “let’em play”.

I can still watch them on www (.)ifeed2all (.)eu. WARNING: Don’t go there if you don’t know what you’re doing.

If you want me to, I can write up another post on how to do it. It’s kinda complicated and a little dangerous if people don’t have firewalls and anti-v running. That would be the only reason I’m hesitant. I don’t want anyone’s pc to get a adware/malware program on it.

I hope Jones is ready, because Scott Wells can’t chew gum without getting injured.

Hmm… Good to know the Rams are working on it. Fisher is still on the rules committee, right?

I think the last superbowl was a disaster for the league. To have a HOF QB, and 4 very good receivers, completely shut down for 3 hours is bad for business. IMO the owners don’t want Seattle’s “style” of D to be replicated by other teams. That’s boring football. And boring doesn’t sell.

We’ll see. The physical style of coverage (also known as holding) by DBs is really the only way left to slow down great QBs with good receivers. A good pass rush is still a solid tactic, but hitting the QB risks a flag, unless you’ve got the aim of a Marine Sniper.

The owners want more points, and more big plays on offense. The owners are the league. The rules committee, the commissioner, the refs, they’ll do what they’re told. Advertising $$$ make most decisions in the NFL.

I’d say there’s a good chance we’ll see more defensive holding calls.

9-7. They gotta cut down on penalties and turnovers. This division is brutal when teams make mistakes.

    He’s soft,
    and I don’t think he
    has good hands,
    and I am disappointed
    in that personnel decision.

I’d say the Finnegan and Cook signings
    were major disappointments.

Agreed. Unfortunately, he’s still the Ram’s leading receiver. Doesn’t say much for the receiving corps.

Tony Banks, benched for Trent Dilfer. That’s all I need to know about Banks.

Fewer penalties, fewer turnovers. And yeah, what WV said, for the love of God someone please make a play on 3rd down.

Only one playmaker, Quinn. None on the O. Everybody loves playmakers…

They should all go. The TE’s, the RB’s, and the DB’s too.

I don’t know. Tough call. Tough division. 9 wins sounds pretty good. But the Cards won 10 last year, and they didn’t make the playoffs.

I’d like for this team to make the playoffs. Even if they’re one and done.

Welcome aboard! what did you search on google?

“Where is the Ramsbuzz board?”, or something close to that. Also, I see you sent an email to me. It went to my Spam folder, so “my bad” on that.

Thanks for the heads up, ZN. Much appreciated!
