For some reason this year feels like we are going through a rebuilding phase. We are starting at a higher level, but it still feels like a reset restart redo thing. We did some pruning. We are deciding who is important. Then we build from that. Of course, every year, in a sense, is a rebuild year.

Yeah, I agree with that. Especially on defense. Long and Laurinaitis are gone and Jenkins, Hayes, McLeod, etc could be. Hopefully the team won’t look ‘too’ different, but nothing is ever static in the NFL, or as Nathaniel Benchley put it, “Only earth and sky last forever”. 😉

We all knew this was coming, right? I would say through 2019.

i would think so too. at least through 2019.

Some places out there, it;s a hot topic.

You’re right, here, people are mostly “enh, yeah
”

Yeah, we heard rumors this was going to happen some time ago. It makes sense, really. Continuity is important and Fisher was hired, at least in part, to transition the team and players through the move. Well, the transitional period isn’t over yet and likely won’t be for awhile.

I think Fisher is going to have to start winning real soon though. I don’t think Kroenke will want to unveil his elite stadium without a team to match.

The deadline for teams to use the franchise tag is March 1 at 4 pm ET. That is today. I still think they won’t use any of the tags.

Ag, you are right about a great many things, but…

Total disrespect when u held down one side all 4 years and force the ball the other way.. #ThanksButNoThanks

    Is he kidding?

    He’s kidding, right?

The only thing he’s held down for four years is the title, “Most Likely to be Burned by a Double Move Even When the Offense is in a Desperate Third and Long Situation Which Means His Primary Focus Should Be in Not Letting Anyone Behind Him”.

Ok, fine. Last year it was different. But 4 years of playing like a shutdown corner? JJ, that is some serious revisionist history, pal.

Yeah, I saw ex machina when it was in theaters and I liked it as much as you.

    Spoiler***********

At the end when she escapes I remember thinking how terrible that possibility would be…fully sentient non-organic super intelligent beings without a conscience set loose upon the world. It seems super intellect would need to be tempered with empathy for other beings or things could get pretty nasty for those other beings. How bad would it be if we lacked the capacity for caring about others or no longer felt a deep sense of guilt when our actions hurt someone else?

Then I thought it probably wouldn’t be much different than it is now.

OK, so how good is Kap at this point?

I don’t know. I’m wondering if he’s any better than Foles or Keenum? That’s a low bar, but still

Doubt they would trade him within the division.

Kiper even sees value at quarterback beyond the first two rounds, perhaps more so than in other years&

“You’re looking at middle-round guys that are intriguing, would be guys like Brandon Allen from Arkansas would be a nice pick at that point,” Kiper said.

    —

There’s 2nd round options and 3rd-4th rounds options.

    Okay, count me in.

    .

Yeah, one reasonable scenario seems to be
draft BPA with the first pick (DE? WR?)
and find some BAWs in the second round
    (best available weapons) and draft
a QB somewhere in that 2nd to 4th round area.

Which leaves Keenum the likely starter
for year one of the LA Rams 2.0

    w
    v

I’m not thrilled with the QB situation this season. Keenum doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies but unfortunately he’s the best option currently on the roster.

    I want Aaron Rodgers.

Unfortunately the Rams blew that possibility when the cut Cook. Instead of being able to force the Packers to trade Rodgers for Cook now the Packers can just go out and sign him without giving up anything.

I want to see it, but I generally only pay for “Big Screen” movies
at the movies. The rest I wait to see on FiOS on one of my movie channels.

That said, just saw Deadpool and holy crap was that a damn hoot. Super fun. Ryan Reynolds and the entire team just got it right on so many levels.

I want to see this too but I can’t get my wife into the Marvel-verse. I can’t get enough of it whether it’s in the theaters or on TV (Jessica Jones, The Agents of Shield, etc)…

I saw it and liked it. Nothing was laugh out loud funny, but there were enough clever/witty moments to make the movie worthwhile. I thought the whole commie writers kidnap plot line was really clever. I also liked Clooney’s reaction to his kidnapping and the way he interacted with his kidnappers. I thought Clooney’s character was very likable. The part where he blows his line during his moving speech about Christ was unexpected and fun. I also liked the scene right after Clooney ‘escapes’ where he is sitting with the movie executive in his office and begins to espouse communist ideals. The sailor dance scene was good as was the building level of frustration between the sophisticated well spoken director and the redneck cowboy actor. There were moments like these throughout the film that kept me interested even if the film wasn’t a continuous laugh riot. Certainly not the best Coen brothers film but not a bad offering overall.

Next up, “The Witch”. I’m hearing it may be the most frightening film in decades.

they cut Long and Laurinitas and kept Foles???? WTF?

Foles could be on the trade block. Remember, there is rumor that the Eagles would like him back, and could be working on a deal, that could involve picks this year, maybe a 3rd rounder and a 2nd rounder nextyear

So the Rams would have to give the Eagles draft picks this year plus a 2nd and 3rd rounder next year to take Foles back?

    Sounds fair…

I’m gonna miss Chris Long. It’s going to be hard to replace his leadership in the locker room. He was one of those guys who everybody on the team loved and looked up to. Maybe I’m making too much of it but it seems to me there’s now a HUGE void in leadership with the release of Long and Laurinaitis.

The Rams cut Laurinaitis so the question about his future with the Rams has been answered.

I wonder if Ogletree could slide into Laurinaitis’ vacated MLB spot as Wagoner suggests. Seems to me there’s a different skillset involved with playing MLB than OLB. I think they need to be more disciplined and need to be good at getting off blocks, whereas Ogletree freelances and usually runs around blocks. Ogletree’s a dangerous player because of his athleticism and ability to play in space. I’m not sure he’s suited for playing inside.

Cutting these three saves 23 mil in cap space. Ian Rapaport hints they may be using some of that money for a QB.

#Rams save $23M in cap space by cutting Cook, Long & Laurinaitis. They have pending FAs like Janoris Jenkins, Trumaine Johnson & need a QB

Why mandate an autopsy when there is no reason to suspect foul play?

There is reason. Because of the office he held and the 180 degree effect upon likely upcoming 5-4 decisions before the court his Obama nominated replacement will cause. That is called motive.

On NPR they were talking about how it actually may not work in the Republicans’ favor to block an appointment. Right now, the court is split 4 – 4 between conservatives and liberals. When the SC is deadlocked, the decision of the lower courts stand and the lower courts are decidedly liberal (by a ratio of 2:1). The panel thought the Republicans would have a better chance with a SC that might lean a little to the liberal side if a new Obama appointed judge were in place than it would with the lower courts.

Well, Bradford missed games in 3 of the 4 seasons he was with the Rams, including all of his 4th season – although I’m not sure he’s injury prone as much as unlucky.

The problem is these guys don’t last in the league very long so it’s hard to come up with many names of an injury prone players. There’s quasi-darwinian selection pressures working against them so they don’t stick around long enough to be remembered.

In fact it fans the flames.

There will be very few flames.

    That’s my bet.

That is exactly what Vince Foster said about Benghazi right before his emails turned up in Whitewater.

Conspiracy dynamics are interesting to me. There seems
to be so much of it in the last ten years.
What accounts for it? Is ‘it’ increasing? Why
would that be? Does the internet have something
    to do with it?

I mean, even the network-suits are plugging into it.
The X Files kinda capitalized on this dynamic,
with its story lines, and other shows have as well.

    w
    v

I bet there’s tons of psychological and sociological stuff that plays into that, and yeah, the internet certainly helps promote this stuff. People distrust government. They distrust corporations. They distrust organised religion, etc. Often that distrust is legitimate but the conspiracy theorists’ response is way over-the-top. They’ll come up with a scenario that seems to fit the facts but ignore actual evidence or dismiss it as fake – because the authorities can’t be trusted. And because they refuse to believe contradicting evidence, conspiracies can never be disproven in their minds. Every conspiracy theory ever imagined still has its proponents.

Well, when I tried handing off to Gurley, turns out, I was too slow. So then in spite of swearing up and down that he would never trade me, Fisher made a swap with the Rams Huddle forum. That’s how Nittany ended up with them. But it blew up on them though, because Nittany may be the only guy I’ve heard of who melted down just doing hand offs.

    I know. Embarrassing, right?

According to Fisher, the Rams have had no internal discussions about Peyton Manning. Didn’t say they weren’t interested in Manning if he doesn’t retire, just that they haven’t discussed it.
