It would have been nice to be able to resign Watkins, but at least he did’nt sign with the 9ers who were reportedly interested in him.

Wonder if it means they keep Tavon?

I doubt it simply because Tavon hasn’t shown he can be a true WR in the NFL. He’s no more of a replacement for Watkins than Johnny Hekker is at this point.

I listen to NPR while I’m at work. That’s the only mainstream news I listen to. I’m not saying it’s measurably better than any other mainstream news outlet, but like Zooey, I listen to it to see what events the general public is being exposed to.

I get most of my news from just reading around the internet.

I remember the very first post I ever read on a Rams message board. It was back in 1998. I picked it first even though it was in the middle of a thread because the name of the poster caught my eye…Great Ram in the Sky. He was responding to a poster named Jack Youngblood (later he went by just JYB). He said “Listen Whippy-dip. Jim Everett could still be a starting QB in this league.” 🙂

He was one of the characters that kept me posting on that old PD board. If it wasn’t for him, maybe I wouldn’t have formed the long lasting message board relationship I have today with many of the posters here.

RIP Great Ram in the Sky.

Wow. I was totally unaware they were even working on that.

I’ll have to process that for a while.

Hard for me to believe it will ever be cheap enough for poor people to afford.

    w
    v

Well, unless they can make it affordable for the masses, it will never become anything more than a novelty.

But I think as technology improves and the process continues to become more efficient, eventually lab grown meat could become cheaper than conventional farm raised meat. For example, think about all the resources and time necessary to grow a cow to maturity. The land, food, and medical requirements, waste generated, etc…

Yeah, I like Gesicki too (big surprise) but he’s a TE so he’s not really a replacement for Watkins. He’s extremely athletic and would be great in the red zone where the Rams sorta struggle at times.

you’re right. not exactly a like for like replacement. but he’d replace his targets. we all know mcvay loves tight ends. this is guy tests off the charts.

his shorts shuttle and 3-cone times are in. 4.10 seconds and 6.76 seconds. holy cow. this guys is off the charts! it sounds like you’ve seen plenty of this guy. but he produced as well at penn state. his blocking sounds not very good though. still. just let him run routes and catch the ball!

Yeah he’s no blocker and probably will never be. He’s tall but he doesn’t have a big frame. But in the passing game he’s a matchup nightmare.

According to PFF, 2017 was Quinn’s worst season.
Part of this is due to his injuries, but his play has been in steady decline since 2013.

All West Virginia public schools remain closed as teachers continue to strike

All 680 public schools in West Virginia are closed for the third day as thousands of teachers walked out to fight for higher wages and benefits — a first in the state’s history. According to the National Education Association, WV educators are the 48th lowest-paid in the country.

And with that WV became the only state in the country to effectively protect its children from a mass shooting at school.

    This is concerning…

Peters played his position well last season but suddenly developed a distaste for physical contact, as if he was playing not to get hurt. Some of his actions in his efforts to avoid contact bordered on the comical.

Sounds like Peters could be a challenge for McVay and Phillips.

But if it works out, the Rams have perhaps the best cover corner in football locked up for two years at a bargain price.

this might get not too many likes but what i would do at this point.

i’d try to get joyner re-signed.

i’d still try to get tru signed.

    i’d let watkins go.

i’d draft the best damn player with the first. hopefully, it’s a pass rusher. or vea.

that right there is the makings of an elite defense.

Yeah, if somehow they could sign TruJo to a fair price then the Rams’ secondary goes from a potential problem area to perhaps the best in football. I assume they’ll tag Joyner if they can’t sign him.

He must’ve been an epic crap head in the locker room. Cancerous.

Because trading away a top 5 corner on a cheapo rookie contract is the stupidest crap i ever heard.

    This is what worries me.

By all reports the Rams has a fantastic locker room last season. Hate to have anything or anyone damage that.

I think it’s interesting (and odd) that the Rams refused to let Quinn be part of the deal.

By trading Quinn you get out from under the contract of a fading player that has back issues. Sure, Quinn came on strong later in the year, but he’s still simply a pure speed guy. He hasn’t mastered any pass rush moves beyond beating the tackle off the ball.

And you know it’s just a matter of time until he gets hurt.

I like Quinn a lot but I can’t help but think they missed an opportunity.

I agree with what zn said. Joe also makes a good point about Nic Foles btw. 😉

I disagree with the author’s view. Students SHOULD write about those subjects. They should be taught how to write about controversial stuff – meaning they have to bring more than their ideology. They have to use data to support their position and not just cherry picked stuff that supports their viewpoint. They should be taught to look at all the evidence and be able to discern signal from noise. They need to learn to think critically.

How do you trade the guy who won you a Superbowl in favor of a guy coming off a devastating knee injury?

It’s what the Eagles are likely to do, and it may be the right thing to do, but it’s still a really strange thing to do.

For me the priority is removing Trump/Pence from office. So while I agree that it’s important for Americans to be aware of our own interference in elections in other countries, the focus should be on Trump’s collusion with Russia and anything else that makes his removal possible. All other considerations are secondary to that.

Trump is driving the biosphere off the cliff at 90 mph.
The Dems would drive the biosphere off the cliff at 75 mph.

I just dont see replacing trump with a dem as a priority.

Ok, how about the ‘context’ and the ‘big picture’. Which is a separate-but-inseparable aspect of this to me.

Assume for the sake of argument that Trump had connections and deals with Russians that amount to “collusion” or whatever terms you wanna use. OK, assume the worst and assume its all true and even more is true that we dont even know about.

    Put it in context.

How does it fit with all the ‘collusion’ America/CIA/NSA/Pentagon/Executive-Branch has done all over the world since, say, the end of World War II ?
Do you see any problem with the MSM discussing Russia-gate without putting it in historical context? IE, telling a story of russia being the bad guys and america being the shining city on the hill?

Second question — Again, assume all the russia-gate stuff is true, for the sake of argument — How is the system USING this issue? In what ways, if any, are the MSM/Dems using this issue?

    Cut
    Roger Saffold – $6.5 million

There are 18 guards in the NFL making more money than Roger Saffold.

$6.5 million for a guard that Brian Baldinger called the “best left guard in the league” seems like a pretty good deal.

When I was a teen I could down a box of Tasty Cakes with a carton of milk in one sitting.

Unfortunately the super market doesn’t always have them here in VT. But you’re right, they aren’t as good as they were when I was a kid.

Middleswarth BBQ potato chips is another snack food I really miss. Can’t get them here.

When I lived in PA there were occasional sightings by people I would consider credible and the same is true here in Vermont.

But the lack of physical evidence is telling.

I would like to see mountain lions reintroduced here in the east. Wolves too.
