First the set-up then the question. Rams drafted Deacon Jones in the 14th round in 1961. They spotted him on film because they were scouting another player, a running back for a team Jones played against. Scouts kept seeing Jones show up in the film. One reason Jones was so hidden from view is because he played for Mississippi Vocational College. 2 years before, he played for South Carolina State, but got kicked off the team. The question. Why did Jones get kicked off the South Carolina State team? .
It was do to a Civil Rights protest, he attended.

JackPMillerParticipantI was told on twitter, that the Rams brass was at the Florida A&M pro day. I wonder if they had their eyes on anyone? Or if they are looking at players that might be good UDFA’s?If so, OC/OG Jalen Spady or OG Keenan Forbes would be great players forΒ a UDFA spot. Unless, Taylor Rapp is going to get traded, thenΒ S Markqeuse Bell would be a possible draft pick
JackPMillerParticipantJackPMillerParticipantI think the Rams have bigger needs at CB and Edge, but I wonβt complain if they sign this guy. Good players are good to have, Iβve always believed.

We had issues against the run. Teams were running up the middle against us. Wagner, may be able to help with that.
I still would like to sign Solomon Thomas, to a one year cheap deal. I feel with us, he could revive his career.
I would not mind signing Tre Flowers or Vernon Hargreaves for our veteran CB opposite of Jalen Ramsey.

We do need help at Inside LB. We struggled against the run, especially up the middle. Wagner may be able to help with that.
I still would consider signing Solomon Thomas to a one year cheap deal, to see if we can revive his career. As you know, players do look good behind Aaron Donald.
March 21, 2022 at 7:48 am in reply to: Rams sign Allen Robinson… & the trade talk this sets off (Woods?) #137793JackPMillerParticipantI’d consider giving Solomon Thomas a one year, cheap deal. I know there has been a bust label on him, but the kid is 26, and has some talent. Put him on A.D.’s side, and I get the feeling, he’ll have a breakout type of year.
JackPMillerParticipantWe only get a 2023 6th round pick? Really?

March 18, 2022 at 3:47 am in reply to: Rams sign Allen Robinson… & the trade talk this sets off (Woods?) #137686JackPMillerParticipantAfter signing Allen Robinson today, the Rams begin receiving calls about the availability of WR Robert Woods, who is now a prime trade candidate, per league sources. Woods is coming off a torn ACL, but is expected to be ready by training camp.

JackPMillerParticipantSo do the Rams have 2 third-round picks? w v
Only one 3rd round pick. We gave the Broncos, are 2nd & 3rd round picks in this draft, for Von Miller. We don’t start picking, until our 3rd round comp pick, which is near the end of the 3rd round.
JackPMillerParticipantJackPMillerParticipantThe Rams are already showing interest in Bobby Wagner, who was just released by the Seahawks this week https://t.co/IBhODzVw3K

The Rams now have a chance to add him, and they should https://t.co/EuPedisbBt

JackPMillerParticipantYou are saying, the Rams are going to be trading, John WolfordΒ for first round picks? π π π
March 9, 2022 at 12:12 am in reply to: Seattle trades Wilson to Denver…update, & release Wagner #137381JackPMillerParticipantRams traded: Goff + 2 first round picks + third rounder = Stafford (1 player + 3 picks for Stafford) Denver traded: a starting DT Shelby Harris + TE Noah Font + starting QB Drew Lock + 2 first rounders + 2 second rounders + 1 fifth rounder = Russell Wilson (3 players + 5 picks for Wilson)
You mean, the Broncos are getting, Russell Wilson & a 4th round pick, in this draft.
March 8, 2022 at 2:47 pm in reply to: Seattle trades Wilson to Denver…update, & release Wagner #137357JackPMillerParticipantTrade package:
Seattle gets QB Drew Lock, TE Noah Fant, DL Shelby Harris, two first-round picks, two second-round picks and a fifth-round pick.
Denver gets Russell Wilson and a fourth-round pick.

JackPMillerParticipantWhat I know, as they said from the combine, so far
QBs
They only have hand
Kenny Pickett’s hand size is 81/2 inches.
Desmond Ridder’s hand size is 10 inches.
Malik Willis hand size is 91/2 inches, but is 6’0″ 1/2, which is 1/2 shorter than expected.
WR
Both Ohio State players had a great day,
Chris Olave ran a 4.26 40, with a 1.5 10s split.
Garrett Wilson ran a 4.37 40, with a 1.49 10s split
Sky Moore ran a 4.39 40, with a 1.49 10s split
Bo Melton ran a 4.39 40, with a 1.49 10s split
Kevin Austin ran a 4.37 40
Alec Pierce ran a 4.33 40. He is 6’3″3/8 212
Treylon Burks ran a 4.55, with a 1.59 10s split. He’s 6’2″Β 225
JackPMillerParticipantSo what are we expecting as far as Comp picks? β
- Fifth-round pick (own)
- Seventh-round pick (own)
- Seventh-round pick (via Miami in Aqib Talib trade)
We get a 3rd for Brad Holmes going to Detroit last year, to be their GM. He was a minority candidate.
Expected(rumored)
4th round pick for John Johnson
6th round pick for Samson Ebukam
6th round pick for for Gerald Everett
6th round pick for Troy Hill
JackPMillerParticipantThere are some real good Tackles that you can get in the mid-rounds this year, as opposed to past years. Maybe not starters right away, but if you have real good coaching,
Max Mitchell, Kellen Diesch, Obinna Eze, Myron Cunningham, Cordell Volson, Braxton Jones, Rasheed Walker, are some real good Day 3 players at the OT position.

JackPMillerParticipantAny word on Ag? I hope he’s OK.
JackPMillerParticipantThere are two possible cap casaulties for us, Tyler Higbee & A’Shawn Robinson. If correct, it would save the team over $11M in cap savings, along with Whit retiring, if correct, saves us another $16M on top. That means, signing both OBJ, and Von Miller back.
I believe the 9ers will release Defensive End, Dee Ford as a casualty, which we hopefully can sign him to a 1 year vet minimum deal. In hopes to win a Super Bowl. And hopefully a big splash free agent, in Inside Linebacker, Dont’a Hightower.
JackPMillerParticipantMy idea for what this team needs, a future at LT, hopefully get a cheap vet. Noteboom, doesn’t have a history of durability issues.
Alaric Jackson, I predict, is the future at ROT. One player, I do have in mind, as a future LOT. if we draft him, in Kellen Diesch of Arizona State, he is someone that we may drop to us in the 4th round. I feel he could kick inside, at Guard to start, while grooming him, to be the future LOT. I am a big fan of Nick Ford of Utah as well. He has played Center the past two years.Β But he can play Guard as well.
I did this Rams mock from the draft simulator
https://thedraftnetwork.com/mock-draft-machine103. Channing Tindall LB Georgia
141. Kellen Diesch OT Arizona State
174. Isaac Taylor-Stuart CB USC
209. Brittain Brown RB UCLA
210. Nick Ford OC/OG Utah
212. Quentin Lake S UCLA
235. Avery Roberts LB Oregon State
250. De’Jahn Warren CB Jackson StateJackPMillerParticipantI assume everyone agrees with me

JackPMillerParticipantWhat will this team look like in 2022?
There are too many questions. Such as,
1. Will Aaron Donald retire?
- If he does, Not only the Rams lose the heart and soul of the defense, but also are stuck with a $21M cap hit.
2.Β Will McVay leave?
- I doubt he does. But if he does. Who ends up as the Head Coach? Raheem Morris? Brian Flores? wv ram? zn? someone else?
- What kind of offense would we run?
- What kind of defense would we run?
3. Who stays, who goes?
- Of our free agents, who do we resign?
- On our roster, of signed players, do we trade or cut anyone, and who?
4. Who restructures?
5. Who extends?
6. Who do we get in free agency?
7. Who do we draft?
JackPMillerParticipantRaheem Morris is 3rd Black Defensive Coordinator in last 4 years to win Super Bowl along w/Todd Bowles & Brian Flores. All did it with dominant performances against top hi-powered offenses. None will be head coaches in 2022. pic.twitter.com/BJ0j04KXYb
— ChuckModi (@ChuckModi1) February 14, 2022
JackPMillerParticipantIf somehow both McVay and AD do retire, we will struggle to make the playoffs. It may take another 20 years before we get back to another Super Bowl.
JackPMillerParticipantI was scared. I was thinking the game was over, but somehow, shockingly, we got a late score to win. And Donald getting that late sack on Burrow for the win
