    we have salary cap issues.

Rams don’t have cap issues. Far from it.

We still have a cap. We need to spend wisely. I blame Trump, wait, I mean Fisher, or is it Zooey. Damn, I’m confused. I hate being old.

I expect a dramatic improvement from the offense, just having competent coaching on that side of the ball will have a huge impact through game planing and the ability to adjust to defenses
and opponents not knowing our own playbook better than GRob. The defense will depend on if Quinn can rebound to a higher level or if the decline continues. I’m thinking 8-8 but I do believe there is a losing culture that must be cut out which can always bring complications.

I’m hoping GRob will be moved to LG.

I expect another down year. Try and Britt probably will be gone, due to we can’t afford them. I can’t see us getting DeSean Jackson either. He’ll be too expensive as well. I can see Tavon and Brockers to take a mini cut to help the team out financially.

    ————-

Can they reach they 7-9-bullshit level next year Jack?

…oh…and if they DO have a winning team next year
does that mean Fisher Sucked for sure ?

No. Too much newness. Plus we have salary cap issues. That is because of Fisher. Giving Austin, Barron, and Brockers huge contracts. Now we have to be wise on how we have to deal with the cap. That hurts us. Even though I’m not a fan of McVay. But he will struggle this year due to the talent we can put on the field.

We will need some LBs. I do expect Simms to be a stand up pass rusher.

One thing we I do know is McVay is not the youngest Head Coach in Rams his. There was a guy named Papa Lewis who was 28 years old, back in the 30s when the Rams were in Cleveland by the way.

My wish Vance Joseph gets named Denver Broncos Head Coach, Josh McDaniels is named 49ers Head Coach, meaning, we are in good shape to get the Shanahans. Just praying for the Shanahans to tak3 over.

JPM, do me a favor and when possible resist the temptation to start new threads when a post may actually belong in an existing thread. (Adding lots of new shorter threads depletes the page one space for existing threads.)

So for example, that’s really just a commentary on or a response to a Sunday wild card game. Given that, shouldn’t it go here, ie a thread that is already discussing that? –>

    Wild Card Crap: http://theramshuddle.com/topic/wild-card-crap/

    Or maybe this one –>

    Dolphins are getting skewered: http://theramshuddle.com/topic/dolphins-are-getting-skewered-its-all-about-hfa/

I looked in both, and felt the thread did not fit with the other posts in those threads.

It would feel better if our Rams were there. It’s been a long time, I wonder how it would feel to be in the playoffs again.

The blizzard in Boston, and missing the meeting with Shanahan is a bad omen. I’m thinking GOD hates the Rams or something. There is a curse or something on us Ram fans. We need some how to break the curse. Maybe burn some herbs, like sage, sacrifice a vestal virgin, something. We need to lift this black cloud over our heads. I want to see another Super Bowl title from our Rams before I die. I don’t want this to be like the Cubs where our Rams titles will be 108 years apart. Just saying. I won’t be alive to see it, if that happens.

If Shanahan goes to Denver, I’ll be depressed. There is no one that is as good as him out there to hire in my mind. McBVey I feel needs another couple of years. I would not trade picks for Sean Payton. If we lose out on the Shanahans, then it is a bad start for the new year for our Rams, meaning, real coaches don’t want to coach here. Jeff Fisher screwed the Rams organization for a long time.

Let the new Head Coach decide. I think it is best. You don’t want to throw GWill on the new HC, especially with his past.

Get Payton as HC and tell GW to hit the road.

I don’t want Payton. I’m believing Payton wants to stay in New Orleans. His son has two years of High School left in the area as well.

If the NFL really wants expansion, move the Chargers to Mexico. They basically would own the country, like the Blue Jays own Canada for the MLB and the Raptors own Canada for the NBA.

Funny thing is, when I was there they have the Spanish channel on TV and the adopted team was the Rams…I watched several games in Spanish. Apparently they weren’t governed by the rules because I sure did watch’em.

Mexico loves the NFL. Money would be made for everyone, including the country of Mexico.

    http://www.csnphilly.com/philadelphia-eagles/2017-nfl-draft-top-5-wide-receivers

Here are the top five receiver prospects in college football:

    1. Mike Williams, Clemson, redshirt junior (6-3/225)
Williams came back from a scary neck injury to show why he’s been so highly touted. So far this season Williams has 73 catches for 1,014 yards and seven touchdowns. But Williams is no one-year wonder. He had a monster sophomore season, posting a 57-1,030-6 line. His ball skills may be the best of anyone in the class. He’s the whole package.

    2. JuJu Smith-Schuster, USC, junior (6-2/220)
I know, I know, a USC receiver. Smith-Schuster does have a lot going for him though with a great combination of size and speed. He’s had a bit of a down year (59 catches, 758 yards, eight TDs), but much of that has to do with the inconsistency at quarterback. With Cody Kessler at the helm, Smith-Schuster produced a stellar sophomore season (89 catches, 1,454 yards, 10 TDs).

    3. John Ross, Washington, junior (5-11/190)
I slot Ross just below Smith-Schuster because of Ross’ size. But he’s legit. He’s pulled in 64 catches for 991 yards and 15 touchdowns. He’s also more than just a big-play threat. Ross is an excellent route runner and has shown the ability to get open against physical corners.

    4. Corey Davis, Western Michigan, senior (6-3/213)
You want production? Davis has 309 career catches for 4,980 yards and 49 touchdowns. You want size and physicality? Davis has it at 6-foot-3 and 213 pounds. You want speed? Davis has averaged 16.1 yards per catch in his career. The only thing Davis doesn’t have is a big-school pedigree, though the Broncos are currently ranked No. 21. If he’s a second-round pick, he’s a steal.

    5. Dede Westbrook, Oklahoma, senior (6-0/175)
The fact that Westbrook is No. 5 on this list is a pretty good indication of how deep this receiver class is. Westbrook is extremely explosive. On the season, the senior has caught 70 passes for 1,354 and 15 touchdowns. That’s almost 20 yards a catch, and that’s after starting the season off slow. He had 154 yards combined in his first three games with no touchdowns. He’s averaged 150 yards and almost two touchdowns a game in his last eight.

    Those are first round picks.

For me. I am high on Pat Elflien C Ohio State. Dump Tim Barnes and upgrade the Center position. Move GRob to LG, cut Saffold, bring in Will Beatty, 2 years at $3.5 million to play LT. Draft a kid in the late rounds like, Jordan Morgan OT from The Kutztown University in the late rounds to groom for the LT position.

Why not do a combo, sign a free agent LT, and draft a late round guy to groom for the LT position, we could draft Jordan Morgan of The Kutztown University. Just saying. You never can go wrong with going with a player from KU ya know. Plus, someone on this board graduated from there as well. Just saying.

Goff just needs someone who knows what they are doing. I see 2016 like Peyton Manning’s first year. Lumps and bumps and plenty of mistakes.

Gurley had a bad year, both personally and from too many greetings from D-linesmen in the backfield. A good O-line is needed. To me, that is priority #1 for the off-season, even 2018 off-season, a new O-line with 2 new vets and a new O-line coach.

WR’s may have to wait. If Spruce can stay healthy, he will provide some excitement and dependability.

For defense, I can’t see doing much this off-season except re-signing guys and getting someone for DE.

The Goff trade has hindered re-building this year, but next year we should be fine.

Even better, go back to Troy Aikmans rookie year. He went 0-15. The only game Dallas won was game 16, was the game the game Troy didn’t play, and he was injured. Goff maybe would be better off learning from Aikman. Going 0-15 as a rookie to a three time Super Bowl champion.

Move GRob inside to Left Guard. Look for a Left Tackle in the draft to groom, Jordan Morgan OT The Kutztown University in the 5th round, and get a free agent LT, maybe a Will Beauty of the Giants. Have to resign Britt, I doubt it will not be cheap. Dump Tim Barnes and draft Pat Elflien C Ohio State in round 2, and Artivous Scott WR Clemson in round 3. I like DeShawn Hall DE Texas A&M in the 4th round.

I can’t wait for our new Head Coach to come in here, and hopefully change this to a winning culture, unlike our last coach.

It will be exciting when me and Nittany take over next year. Oops, that was meant to be a secret. I meant to say, the geniuses that the Rams organization is expected to hire.

I really like Ballard from KC. He has the make up I think we really need. Ya know dude has edge. Knows what he likes and doesn’t shy away from voicing it. Good track record.
Get us Sean Peyton & Chris Ballard and we will start to collect a hole lot of wins JMHO

I’m going with the Shanahans. If I would look for a GM, I like these names,

    Eric DeCosta of the Ravens,
    Will McClay of the Cowboys
    Alonzo Highsmith of the Packers

But if the Rams want to win, they need to hire JackPMiller. Just saying.

Well, at a minimum the Rams have to resign TruJo. That’s job one.

Also need resign Britt and Legatron. Plus, we should start working on an extension for Aaron Donald. Donald will be in the last year of his rookie deal next season.

. just needs the right coaching.

It doesn’t even have to be THAT. (To push it far to the other side.)

He just needs a running game.

    IMO.

    .

well you know. that’s part of why i’m really warming up to the idea of the shanahans. BOTH have an excellent track record with the running game. and again with alex smith what did harbaugh fix? the running game. in 2010 it was ranked 19th. jumped to 8th in 2011 and 4th in 2012. smith not surprisingly saw his qb rating increase as well during those years.

shanahan. both are known for being able to find and develop running backs. kyle developed rbs in houston and washington. ryan is having his best season under kyle. is it a coincidence that freeman and coleman have formed a potent running game the past 2 years?

yeah. just makes too much sense to me.

It is not just the RBs, the OLines have played well as well. I’m with you, about warming up to the Shanahans.
