InvaderRamModeratorI like how Colin thinks.
if i was stafford and donald, i’d be willing to take a discount to give the rams some flexibility. cuz if this team can get one or two more championships, they could easily get that money back in endorsements.
a dynasty would sell. la would eat that up in a second.
InvaderRamModeratoralso. i’d like to add that i got a really good feeling about this coen guy. moreso than o’connell. i don’t know why. maybe it’s what coen did with kentucky last year.
and if they ever hire greg olson, i’ll really be stoked.
InvaderRamModeratorYou know what it looks like to me. Brown is being positioned to ascend to coordinator. Either with the Rams eventually (given how often their coordinators get hired away), or maybe he gets hired somewhere else before being promoted with the Rams. And of course being positioned to be a coordinator means being positioned to eventually become a head coach.
that’s what it looks like to me. mcvay thinks the tight ends coach is an important position. mcvay himself started out as a tight ends coach. wes phillips coached that position before moving onto an oc position. and now brown.
InvaderRamModeratorRams are expected to hire Ra’Shaad Samples as RBs coach
Posted by Myles Simmons on March 4, 2022, 10:06 AM ESTIt looks like the Rams have found a new running backs coach.
According to multiple reports, Los Angeles is expected to hire Ra’Shaad Samples for the position.
Samples, 27, had been hired in November to be TC’s assistant head coach and running backs coach under new head coach Sonny Dykes. He spent the 2019-2021 seasons with SMU, rising from an offensive assistant to running backs coach and assistant head coach.
The Rams had a vacancy at RBs coach after promoting Thomas Brown to tight ends coach. Brown replaced Wes Phillips in that role, as Phillips left the organization to become the Vikings’ offensive coordinator under former Rams OC Kevin O’Connell.
L.A. head coach Sean McVay had said that Brown was heading the search for a new running backs coach.
InvaderRamModeratorsi is reporting that one candidate is ra’shaad samples from tcu.

Rams to Interview College Star for RB Coach?
Just weeks after their Super Bowl LVI win, The Los Angeles Rams have begun to shuffle their coaching staff to help replace outgoing staff.
One of the major changes happening internally for L.A. will be on the offensive side of the ball, where running backs coach Thomas Brown is being promoted, and given “more responsibility within the offense and team“.
As a result, the Rams have reportedly begun to search for a replacement for Brown, and are expected to interview TCU running backs coach, run-game coordinator and assistant head coach, Ra’Shaad Samples.
A rising star in the college coaching ranks, Samples has ascended very quickly in his short coaching career, thanks in large part to his prowess on the recruiting trail, where he is considered one of the best in the entire country.
Samples began his career as a student assistant with the Houston Cougars in 2016, before being hired by the Texas Longhorns as the assistant wide receivers coach in 2019.
The 27-year-old was then moved on to SMU as an offensive assistant in 2019 and was promoted in each of his seasons with the Mustangs.

InvaderRamModeratormahomes, allen, and jackson for sure.
InvaderRamModeratorThere is evidence that Robinson upped his game on his own. We have a vid somewhere or the Rams DL coach (Henderson) talking about how he had challenged Robinson to lose weight in the off-season. He did, and was stronger and quicker as a result. I am not dismissing the idea that Miller helped, but it may be that more than one thing came through this year at the same time–adding Miller, Robinson upping his game.
what’s crazy is a’shawn is only 26. will be entering his contract year at only 27. he’ll be super motivated to play well.
gaines will only be 26 going into next season. and then there’s brown who has tons of potential.
bring miller back and it could be a delight.
InvaderRamModeratorAnd frankly, did they EVER really play their ‘A’ game for
i kept thinking right up to the super bowl that if they could just play their “a” game they’d be unbeatable. they never actually did play their “a” game and they still won.
i do think injuries played a part though.
InvaderRamModeratorZac Stevens@ZacStevensDNVR The Rams named Von Miller the Postseason Performer of the Year. In 4 games, Von had 4 sacks, 6 QB hits, 6 TFLs, 14 tackles 1 forced fumble & 1 fumble recovery. He was vintage playoff Von.
i know it’s going to be next to impossible, but this is why the rams have to do everything they can to bring this guy back. having this guy for a full season. along with a full season from jones. this front seven could be fun to watch.
i don’t know how they do it, but if there’s a way i’m sure they’ll figure it out.
InvaderRamModeratorBut the offense also started playing better or differently or somethin.
yeah. sony michel really started playing well after that. or mcvay started running it more. i don’t know what specifically triggered it. but he went on a tear.

InvaderRamModeratorwoods was injured shortly after the tenn game.
rams were integrating obj and miller into the team. miller was also getting healthy.
i think miller really changed this defense in the second half.

InvaderRamModeratorHigbee should be fine, and if Harris puts on another twenty pounds of good weight, they should be set there, too, with Hopkins and Blanton. That becomes a strong group as well.
if either harris or hopkins can come through, that could be quite the tight end group.
InvaderRamModeratori guess it makes sense. closer to the stadium. half the distance. but not too far away from where most of the players will be living. families can live in the suburbs to the west. but if you wanted to you could live closer to the city.

InvaderRamModeratori don’t know if this was posted. i liked it. at the end (36:45), cooper says to matt, “great win. just the start.” i really hope that stafford and kupp can play together for another five years at least. at least. they could do some special things together.

Super Bowl LVI | Rams vs. Bengals | NFL Turning Point
InvaderRamModeratori waited to watch it because i really just wanted to sit and watch it. too many distractions before.
but man. this is a good watch. i can see why players want to play for this guy. loves to talk about and give praise to everyone else but himself.
some interesting stuff. said a’shawn may have been the best player in the game. said aaron donald was one of one. not because of his physical ability but because of the mental part. his preparation his dedication. said sapp got by mostly on ability but didn’t work like donald does. he said he was ready to call ryan clark if weddle wasn’t on board! interesting comments on kupp. also. i’m glad he mentioned hendo being held on the play previous to the one where the questionable one was called on kupp. and then weddle makes a surprise guest appearance.
i will say that i did have some doubts about morris during the season, but the way this defense finished at the end of the season. i’m glad he’s the dc for the rams and am curious to see how they do next year.

InvaderRamModeratorI’d be curious as to how many minority coaches McVay has hired over the years and how many he has on staff now. I’d be curious how his numbers look compared to the NFL in general, etc.
w
v
yeah.
i was also hoping that he would hire a minority for the oc position. if for no other reason than to see if said oc would get hired the following year for a hc position. although in the end i want to see the best candidate get the job of course.
supposedly, mcvay will be grooming brown for a coordinator position. whether it’s here or somewhere else i hope he gets the chance and runs with it. unbelievable that flores produces 2 winning seasons in a row and gets fired.

InvaderRamModeratordunno if this has been posted: “deep nerdy knowledge of football”
one bit i thought was interesting from that video. von miller said to mcvay at a night club, “come get me”. how can they let him go at this point? a miller donald combo for the next 2 years would be awesome.
InvaderRamModerator.. Super Bowls, would they be able to takeover the Lakers, and be the “It” team in LA?
i think la is a dodger town above all else. and it would be nigh impossible to overtake them. dodgers are popular whether they win or lose.
InvaderRamModeratoranother possible sleeper i forgot about is jacob harris.
a long shot, but the rams are gonna need some second year players to come through next year.
InvaderRamModeratorOkay, that said…I also believe Stafford improved as the season wore on, and that the Rams used more motion and PA as the season wore on. So what we have here is a QB on a new team who is adjusting to a new system, and a coach that is figuring that out, and a new WR added mid-stream as another WR the QB was just getting used to goes out. And all that got better and better as the season progressed, and it peaked at the right time.
and having said that stafford still finished the season third in ypa, second in tds, fourth in total qbr, and sixth in passer rating. so if he does improve, it could be something to behold. one thing he definitely needs to get better at is consistency. his lows were very low. but that might just be something you have to live with with matt.
the only thing i worry about is how they replace whit. i’m skeptical noteboom is the answer, but he might be their only option.

InvaderRamModeratorwhen i watch aaron donald play, i imagine that’s what rams fans felt when they watched deacon jones and merlin olsen play.
InvaderRamModeratorAlaric Jackson played well when he played, but who knows.
jackson is an interesting prospect. athletically he doesn’t stand out at all. i’m skeptical that he could stick at left tackle, but his teammates speak highly of him.
InvaderRamModeratorI would be happy to get Miller if that’s not the case. Imagine this D with an entire season of Miller and Donald together plus Howard and Jones both at ILB. Scott and Fuller at DB.
yeah. it’d be difficult. but for the reason you just mentioned above is why i want to see it happen.
and if brown were to emerge… that could be quite the treat.
InvaderRamModeratornot that anyone is asking me but von miller and obj.
InvaderRamModeratorthey definitely need to draft more defensive backs. long is also freakishly athletic and has not been able to nail down a position. next year is the last year of his contract. glad fuller is back but disappointed with burgess’ season.
and how do they replace whit? is signing noteboom enough? or are there other free agents available?

InvaderRamModeratormy hope right now.
that ernest jones uses his rookie season to as a launching pad for a stellar sophomore season from start to finish.
that robert rochell can grab the starting corner spot opposite ramsey.
and that bobby brown emerges and plays some serious and important minutes on the dline. brown has serious physical abilities. i hope he can elevate the mental part and be a contributor.
InvaderRamModeratorI saw a stat about how many snaps Aaron Donald took this year. It was, like, a million. With all the fierce effort he expends, against all the double-teams, play after play, game after game — and all the desire and pressure for that Ring, and all the pressure of being ‘the man’ and a leader — one would think the guy is totally exhausted. Maybe more than any player on the team. w v
yeah. he is the face of the franchise. in terms of greatness. in terms of longevity.
i guess that’s why they wanted to win it for him.
it’s rare these days for a defensive player to be the face of a franchise. i mean even before he won the super bowl there were whispers that he was the best player in the nfl. not just defense but all of football.
it’s funny. we’re seeing a whole new aaron that the public has never really seen before. when he finally got that ring it’s like years of tension building up inside him had finally been released.
InvaderRamModeratorbring back obj and von!
bring whit and weddlesbeard back too!
InvaderRamModeratorthey gotta bring von back. he’s got tons of personality. fun to watch. fun to interview. when he came out for the draft, i was hoping the rams could draft him. now he’s actually a ram, and i don’t want to see him go.
and here’s his james corden interview from when he won a super bowl with the broncos.
