and the gsot had marshall. it’ll be hard for this offense to match the gsot for that reason. one of the best offensive players ever. to complement and even enhance the receiving options at their disposal.
InvaderRamModeratorThat’s three legit #1 guys — Kupp, Robinson, OBJ — and Van Jefferson who’s a solid #3 type, with potential for more. Throw in Harris, perhaps, and even Tutu, and it rivals the GSOT days, and one could argue, with more depth.
and don’t forget higbee. very underrated.
InvaderRamModeratorRams Brothers@RamsBrothers In 2021, the Rams led the league in passing rate inside of the 5-yard line (65.8%), and second inside of the 10.
and they could actually be better next season with robinson…
InvaderRamModeratorInvaderRamModeratorStu Jackson@StuJRams Rams LB Bobby Wagner on working with LB Ernest Jones: “He has all the attributes of a great linebacker, and if I can do anything to help, I will.”
i’m excited to see what wags and jones can do this year together. what kind of schemes they can come up with because i do like jones’ potential and we know what wags can do.
Nobody is stopping this Rams offense if Odell Beckham Jr. returns.
can’t forget about higbee.

InvaderRamModeratori too was intrigued by roger carter. i wonder what happened there.
InvaderRamModeratorFrom PFF, Most underrated player on all 32 NFL teams: https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-most-underrated-player-32-nfl-teams-2022#LAR … LOS ANGELES RAMS: DI AARON DONALD Yes, you read that right. No matter how good you believe Donald to be, chances are the data says he’s better. Donald is redefining pass rushing from an interior alignment. Edge rushers generate significantly more pressure than their interior counterparts. They may have further to travel to get the pressure, but they have more space to work with and much more of their rush takes place out of the quarterback’s field of vision. Donald doesn’t just rival any edge rusher in the league for pressure, he exceeds them all. Over the past three seasons, Donald leads all pass-rushers in pressures by 32 from the next best mark. He has a pass-rush win rate of 23.2%, which is also the best mark in the league. Donald is the best pass-rusher the NFL has seen over the past 16 seasons of PFF grading and is in another world compared to any player at his position.
yeah. he’s one of one. that’s used way too often, but it fits donald. he’s right up there with lawrence taylor for defensive players. best of his generation, and he’s not even done yet.
in terms of just being a sports fan, it’s been one of the great privileges to watch him play over the years.
InvaderRamModeratorI know it’s a personal bias, but I think it’s based on sound thinking.
good point about troy hill.
i am also in favor of high ceiling players. which is why hardy was one of my favorite picks. and i wish they had picked at least one high ceiling player at defensive back too.
i guess we’ll see. the one thing that gives me comfort is that they seem adept at picking secondary players in the lower rounds so those high ceiling players must not have ticked enough boxes to be selected over the more polished players.
InvaderRamModeratorBut a freakish athlete, under Ram tutelage for a year or two?
one thing i would say is that the rams strategy may have been drafting for now rather than for the future. not on all their picks but for a significant portion of them.
sure they drafted hardy for potential, but bruss, williams, and lake seem to have been drafted more because they could possibly step in right away and contribute.
bruss comes from a program known for development of the oline. lake has the pedigree. he’s been compared to fuller. a guy who doesn’t stand out physically but knows football. fundamentally sound. and fits the scheme. williams is not just a physical runner, but he can catch and pass block.
they know the window is small. even just one or two years of development is too long when they’re trying to win now.
maybe i’m wrong about that. i don’t know.

InvaderRamModeratori think secondary is set. especially with the trade for hill. so at this point i seriously doubt they go after mathieu.
but edge rusher seems to be the one big question mark on this defense. i do like the hardy pick, but yeah. it’s a big gamble this late in the draft. so i’m guessing they look to free agency for some more help.
so i’m guessing clowney is in play? the chance to play alongside donald and parlay that into a bigger contract? i don’t know how they afford him, but that could be a good fit.
InvaderRamModeratorLogan Bruss and Daniel Hardy are the only two players in the Rams’ class who scored above an 8.50, making them the most athletic of Los Angeles’ class.
and probably my two favorite picks. although i do like the williams pick. i’m rooting for him hard. but more athleticism and potential would have been nice too.
InvaderRamModeratorI already think that Bruss, Williams, and Lake will make it. So they just need 1 more out of the 5 others to hit the “4 ‘hits’” mark.
i think hardy makes it. the guy has freakish length. he’s explosive, and his agility numbers are off the wall.
34″ arms and 10″ hands. that’s exceptional for someone who is 6’6″. he’s a little under 6’2″. that’s just insane. that kind of low center of gravity and that kind of reach is intriguing.
InvaderRamModeratori remember the name roger carter. i will be following him.
InvaderRamModeratorRams hit rate, 2017-2020 (ie. far enough back to know). 3rd round…Rams, 50% …league avg. 29.19% 4th round…Rams, 50% …league avg. 20.03% 5th round…Rams, 33% …league avg. 8.8% 6th round…Rams, 28.57% …league avg. 8.8% 7th round…Rams, 25% …league avg. 6.4%
the only thing i would wonder about is is that sustainable long term? is a four year period long enough to see that as sustainable?
it is impressive for sure. but there could be a period where their success rate goes down.
InvaderRamModeratorNow that's full circle this not only made me smile but also made my day! @Kyrenwilliams23 congratulations! I look forward to seeing you hold down the backfield.

InvaderRamModeratori’m rooting for this guy. that photo with sj. the emotion you can hear in his voice. wow. very cool.
InvaderRamModeratorarticle compares him to haason reddick.
i’d be happy with that kind of production.
InvaderRamModeratorso i’m gathering from all this that the rams are pretty comfortable with their depth at edge rusher?
robinson and enagbare were there for the taking in the fifth.
also. does this mean that honey badger is not play?
InvaderRamModeratorso apparently he was in la training with havs and edwards during the rams playoff run?
that’s pretty cool.
After training in LA, Logan Bruss dreamed of playing for the Rams
Cameron DaSilva
April 29, 2022 10:28 pm PTLogan Bruss grew up in Wisconsin and played his college football for the Badgers, so he’s a Midwest kid through and through. But knowing he was making the jump to the NFL, he dreamed of warmer weather and beaches – and playing for the Rams.
During his call with media members on Friday, Bruss told reporters that he trained with David Edwards and Rob Havenstein in Los Angeles before the combine, and he loved it. That had him dreaming of being drafted by the Rams, which ultimately happened in the third round.
“I was training in L.A. for the combine, and I know a couple guys on the Rams’ O-line and it was good to be around that during that time, during the playoffs and the Super Bowl. It was a lot of fun,” Bruss said, via the team’s site. “I loved the area, and honestly this is the place I was kind of dreaming of coming to play. It’s a dream come true. I’m excited to see some familiar faces there.”
Edwards and Havenstein told Bruss the Rams might draft him, but the rookie called it “obviously crazy” that it actually wound up happening. He’s now the third Wisconsin lineman on the roster, and he could compete for starting snaps at right guard immediately.
Bruss being friends with Edwards and Havenstein should only make his transition from college to the NFL even easier – and he’ll also be moving from his original position of right tackle to guard, which the Rams see as a seamless switch.
The Rams are thrilled to have him aboard, and Kevin Carberry already said he looks like a Roman soldier.
“He said you look like a roman soldier.”

Logan Bruss was drafted with pick 104 of round 3 in the 2022 draft class. He scored a 8.76 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 152 out of 1218 OT from 1987 to 2022. https://t.co/buuKasKxRA #RAS #Rams pic.twitter.com/Oe2aki1Vs2

InvaderRamModeratori got the covid booster on thursday, and it completely knocked me out. but i was able to see the rams pick at the end yesterday.
reading about him i get a good feeling about this guy. and hey. if he turns out as good as the kupp pick. or the fuller pick. that’ll do. hopefully, he wins the starting job his rookie season and takes off.

far far far far far away from san francisco… preferably an afc team… with a mediocre qb.

if anyone has the espn subscription, there is a 15 minute video too. or maybe it’s free. i’m not sure. basically it’s the same as the article.
InvaderRamModeratori never even knew about that, but thanks for the link. what an inspirational story.
watched it on the espn channel. people should check it out.
InvaderRamModeratorwell samples was a wide receiver in college before he became a running backs coach. so he’s got experience in the passing game and running game. and it sounds like he’s not satisfied with just familiarizing himself with the rams’ running schemes. here’s hoping brown and samples are the next 2 coaching superstars from the mcvay tree.

InvaderRamModeratorrams may be losing bobby woods, but they’re gaining bobby wagner. this guy sounds like a class act.
Wagner’s Class
Late in Jerome Bettis’ career in Pittsburgh, I remember him telling me that no matter what happened to him in football, he always wanted Pittsburgh to be a part of his life. He was going to have a business of some kind there, and he loved the place. If he got less playing time than he thought was fair, or the team drafted his replacement and pushed him out, so be it. That’s short-term. Bettis was thinking about three decades into the future, not three months.
Bobby Wagner reminded me of that last week. We recorded a podcast interview and he was eloquent about his time in Seattle. It didn’t end the way he wanted, but the way he saw it, he’s not going to let that affect the 10 years he spent there, or the future he has there. Let Wagner explain it:
“I think lashing out, that’s the norm. I try to be different. Being older, you can kind of understand some things. I’ve been a part of that organization long enough to see certain guys lash out but then as time heals, they start to come back around the building. So, for me, it was centered around business. It had nothing to do with me personally. It’s more just something they felt that they had to do from a business perspective. No matter how they handled the business, I just kept it at that.
“What they did doesn’t change my perspective on Pete [Carroll, the coach]. What they did doesn’t change my perspective on John [Schneider, the GM]. I was just growing the relationship with Jodi [Allen, the owner], and I hope that relationship continues no matter where I’m at. Definitely I want to make sure when I play them, I’m at my best. I’m definitely motivated to be at my best when I play them. But I think I’m old enough to know that relationships are important and life is short. To hold grudges and have that type of hate in your heart just doesn’t sit with me.
“I’m grateful. I’m humble. I think even after these few weeks, maybe even more grateful … I was honored to be a part of the fan base that embraced me and welcomed me regardless of what jersey I put on.
“I did go to a Kraken game recently, and the fans were amazing. I think we just want to turn into a celebration of 10 years and not have any animosity. My time there was great. I love the fans there. How it ended, I’m not going to let it take away from my time there.”
Just so smart.
