InvaderRamModeratorhmmm… i’d want to know who else was on that list and how they ranked and what their situations were.
InvaderRamModeratorit’s slow but i suppose some of that is to be expected. and this isn’t the largest board to begin with.

InvaderRamModeratorok a little panic might be settling in right now.
the rams aren’t really this incompetent are they?
InvaderRamModeratori don’t think he’s an elite back. i think he can be very good but not elite. that’d be like a leveon bell. but i think he’ll definitely be solid.
even last year, outside of those first five games he wasn’t particularly special.
but again. i think he can be solid and the offense will need him to perform this season.
InvaderRamModeratorin order i think their needs will be.
1. pass rushing outside linebacker
2. 3-4 lde
3. center
4. defensive back (cb/s)
5. tight end
6. offensive tacklebut yeah. bpa. for sure. so for example. likely you’re not going to pick a center if you’re in the top 10. even though it’s high on your list of needs.
my bet is that first round pick will be one of the following. pass rusher, 3-4 defensive end, or defensive back. best available.

InvaderRamModeratorwell i think he played a huge part. he came across to me as a leader. as brilliant as martz was, he never came across as a true leader. not the way vermeil was.
of course i could have read that all wrong.
and who knows if that would have made a difference going forward. meaning could they have won more than one superbowl with that core group.
InvaderRamModeratorRams React to Jeff Fisher’s Firing | All or Nothing: A Season with the Los Angeles Rams
the part you don’t see is hayes ripping into his teammates. hekker choking back tears. and gurley with his head buried and gently weeping.
they did a good job of documenting the team slowly disintegrating over the course of the season culminating in the firing of jeff fisher and the aftermath that took place.

InvaderRamModeratori sometimes got annoyed with the warners. they just got a little overbearing for me at times.
but kurt’s rise from rags to superbowl winning qb was as much about brenda as it was about him.
just an incredible story that defied all odds and so it totally makes sense that she would present.
one of the greatest stories if not the greatest story in nfl history.
InvaderRamModeratorya know. i take it all back. as much as i hated hard knocks i liked all or nothing. it very much was like watching a mega blockbuster disaster film.
it was a good watch although yes. very painful at times.
InvaderRamModeratori agree to a certain extent. but if you have to cover for one position that necessarily limits what you can do since you’re directing more resources to a spot than you would like to.
they’ll have to do that to a certain extent but hopefully not more than they’re comfortable with.
InvaderRamModeratora lot of this is just wait and see.
i feel comfortable with the left side. i’m fairly certain havenstein can make the switch to guard and despite his height i actually think it’s his better position.
my biggest questions are sullivan and health. and right tackle. cuz no matter how strong that inside is and how good left tackle is, defenses will expose the right side if they can’t find someone to adequately play that position.
offensive line only as good as the weakest link.
at least that’s what they say.
InvaderRamModeratorNaturally I want to see certain things from him first before I sign on the dotted line, but, I like Goff and what I think he can do.
i’ll also say this. in 2017 goff’s supporting cast will be better than anything bradford had the luxury of playing with.
if i’m wrong i’m wrong.
InvaderRamModeratori’m gonna keep saying it until i see otherwise, but i’m telling ya. goff is gonna end up being at least better than bradford.
and i think bradford is pretty decent. so goff should be at least better than decent.

InvaderRamModeratori have hope for brown.
there’s a lot of talk about havenstein moving over to guard and if it’s because guards are more valued than tackles in kromer’s system. and while that may be true, it’s also true that brown is just a flat out better athlete than havenstein.
he’s got better length. he’s faster and quicker.
and so it may be true that kromer needs havenstein at guard more than brown, but it may also be true that brown is just a better prospect than rob as a tackle.
we’ll see.

InvaderRamModeratori think he can. a lot of it is his fault. he missed holes. he didn’t run strong like he did the previous season. but i think these are correctable things.
maybe he won’t be a hall of famer but maybe he can get back to being a solid running back.
InvaderRamModeratori’ll probably end up watching it, but if it’s anything like hard knocks i’m sure it’ll be total garbage.
InvaderRamModeratorsome people talk about how big of an upgrade whitworth is over grob.
well maybe woods and kupp won’t provide THAT much of an upgrade. but it’s still one helluvan upgrade over britt and quick.

InvaderRamModeratoreven moving joyner over to free safety. signing barwin.
and if quinn can get healthy again watch out.
a lot of ifs i realize.

InvaderRamModeratori don’t think that’s crazy. i don’t know how possible it is but i think there’s a chance.
but between whitworth, woods, and kupp. another year of improvement from goff. gurley getting his shit together. having an innovative offensive mind in mcvay. and the phillips effect.
yeah i think a 10-6 record is within reach.
InvaderRamModeratorstill gotta draft olinemen though. can’t let it get away from them. doesn’t have to be a high draft pick. but they should be trying to draft at least one lineman every year.
InvaderRamModeratorha! other sports have been doing this for years. shoot, baseball’s been doing this for over 10 years already.
where has the nfl been?
sheesh.
InvaderRamModerator7 FAs starters on defense and only Sullivan on offense.
Mo Alexander should be on the list too.Any early word on the strengths of the 2018 draft?
Cause…for the Rams, they need a defensive draft.
I can’t see them keeping all those guys. In fact I would make it just Ogletree. That means having to draft CBs, safeties, OLBS, and DEs.
…
corners safeties olbs and des.
hopefully a guy like johnson can step in as a starter next year.
but yeah. re-sign ogletree.

InvaderRamModeratorthey can’t lose this guy.
i can forgive screwing up the jenkins deal.
not this one though. i don’t think they’ll screw this one up. they must realize how good this guy is.

InvaderRamModeratorthey need to draft a developmental guy next year.
maybe if sully stays healthy this year they’re able to keep him for another year or too.
hopefully he stays healthy this year.
did they focus too much on drafting skill position players when they should have drafted a center?
June 25, 2017 at 7:46 pm in reply to: latest young receivers thread…Reynolds, Thomas, what Holt sez, etc. #70398
InvaderRamModeratori would think the number 1 receiver would depend on touches rather than a specific position but i’m not completely sure about it.
i think kupp in particular will end up lining up all over the field. outside inside left right.
keep defenses from keying in on him.
maybe not immediately but in the near future.
June 24, 2017 at 8:25 am in reply to: on the WP D (since mini-camp), w/ a long one on WP's defenses over the years #70373
InvaderRamModeratorWatch his weight — he’s listed at 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, which might be heavier than you’d want for the position (Von Miller was listed at 6-3, 237 last year, while DeMarcus Ware was listed at 6-4, 247). He is a big-time bounceback candidate if he stays on the field and a deep sleeper for DPOY honors if he plays 16 games.
losing weight might not be the worst thing for his back.
InvaderRamModeratorthey totally screwed up the jenkins contract. could they screw the aaron donald contract?
oh boy. i hope demoff is working on this. seriously need to get their priorities straight.
for this i think they will.
June 24, 2017 at 8:13 am in reply to: on the WP D (since mini-camp), w/ a long one on WP's defenses over the years #70370
InvaderRamModeratori like what they did in the secondary. i think joyner to free safety and alexander sliding over to strong was obvious but brilliant. i think adding robey coleman and drafting johnson both good moves.
i really like barwin i like the whole linebacking corps really. but quinn’s gotta make a bruce like resurrection. a healthy robert is essential.
that’s one of my 2 big concerns about the defense.
my other big concern is who plays defensive end for the line? nose and 3 tech i think are covered. but defensive end?
figure out those 2 issues and yeah i think top 5 is possible.

InvaderRamModeratorI guess that I am the only one who thinks Tavon’s contract isn’t excessive. Of course he has to perform, that is true of any player, but I think he will. For me that is 8-10 TDs in any form. I see Barron’s contract as more out of line that Tavon’s, but they both are livable. I find it a bit strange that we can pay Barron 9m/yr, Tavon 10.5m/yr, Brockers 11m/yr, Johnson 16.7m for this year, but we couldn’t pay Jenkins 12.5m/yr when Jenkins is the only player to go to the pro bowl.
for me it’s not a matter of the contract. it’s a matter of fit. tavon will not fit this offense. this offense will require him to be a wide receiver which he is not. he’s something else.
and no. i don’t believe mcvay will try to accomodate him.

InvaderRamModeratorTavon Kupp Woods
my prediction is tavon will be phased out this season. thomas replaces austin.
but that would still go to your point about growth and development from guys already on the roster.
