In the video of his being drafted they talked about how his best fit was a 3/4 edge rusher and that in college they used him as a chest piece moving him around. Wade likes his chest pieces. It could work and if he comes in the locker room with the right attitude, can pick up the defense and showed something, then he is probably worth keeping and he should not be too expensive to retain.

Lot of new faces on defense.

I believe given the coaching, they will continue to learn each other, trust each other, and get better over the next 5 games.

    Young receivers came up big.

The hit on cooks should have been targeting imo.

Peters takes chances so he will occasionally be beat. Hopefully not as often as this game.

Hopefully the defense will begin felling around week 8 or 9.

Tough win in the road. Woohoo!

My eyeball test, which is only moderately accurate if that, tells me that most teams thus far have been trying to get the ball out quickly against us.

To be leading the league in pressure percentage given that is pretty cool.

Two very good teams throwing haymakers. Good game. Our defense was slightly better than theirs.

It’s great to see we can still pull out a win when Hekker has an off day.

So folks can put appropriate bets on who is going to come out of the AFC and be trounced by the Rams in the Super Bowl.

Sure, but Gurley has the most two point conversions in the league and it isn’t even close .

    NFL Throwback@nflthrowback
@PatrickMahomes5 is the first player in @NFL history to throw 10 touchdown passes in the first two games of the season. (Absurd but true: he’s on pace for 80 TDs this season…)

With 28 catches so far this year, @Saints WR Michael Thomas has the most receptions through the first 2 games of the season since at least 1950. He’s on pace for 224 catches this season…that’s 81 more than the current record (143 by the @Colts Marvin Harrison in 2002)

Could be playing the rams put him into a more coachable frame of mind. He certainly was a beast.

Can you imagine this offense with last Monday’s Cook on the team?

Goff and the receivers were a little bit out of sync, but got better over the game. Gurley is a beast. Donald needs another week or two. Linebackers played reasonably well. Cornerbacks played exceptionally well. Oline was good throughout.

Wish we had a tight end as good as theirs 🙂

6th rounder, he is likely to make it to the practice squad imo. Today may be the best timing to ensure he gets there, assuming they saw enough to want him.

As you said, they only dress 7 anyway.

It works out to an average of 22.5 per year for 6 years (I believe) with a solid amount of guaranteed money. Provided he stays healthy, this should work out fairly well for cap management down the road.

What might the rams do with the extra cap savings for this year with the two restructures this week. I’m guessing another contract extension – perhaps a cornerback.

Or a new player like a backup QB. Never been a Mannion fan (as a pro QB) and i’m an Oregon state grad who watches a lot of PAC 12 football.

It is also interesting to see who is getting a good percentage of the special teams snaps

Mundt On offense, given the lack of tight end separation, makes me wonder if he might stick.

    1. I just want to see the deal happen .

    2. If I got to make that decision I would rather see 22 with larger guarantees and then him stay healthy the whole time to save a couple million per year for another player

It would be great if they could get it done 6-12 days prior to the season opener so the defense could practice together with everyone before the season opener. Not imperative, but it wouldn’t probably hurt.

I’m going to guess something long term like a 6 year deal.

Suddenly in the last year we have the appearance of a franchise with a clear vision that knows what they are doing.

Locking in young talent that will play together for the next several years keeps the window open.

    Cool.

If Gurley is as good as Faulk, you keep Gurley.

Otherwise I agree with you that good RBs are easier to find. I believe they can play earlier at a higher level than most positions.

How about we pay Goff 28; Donald 21; cooks 15; Peters 14 and we keep Joyner, Brockers and Kupp. 🙂

    Good discussion.

Might be interesting to differentiate between starters (I’d include the nickel guy with starters) and bakups/roll players.

Then again maybe not, could become too complicated. 🙂

I’ve just never thought that he was that great of a weapon as a gadget player that he can be counted as a hit regardless of where he was drafted.

I believe he is a career backup part time gadget player.

If he was a 4th rounder or lower, that would be okay, but I still wouldn’t count him as a hit. But it would be okay for that amount of draft capital.

Teams had to account for Tavon a couple years ago because he was the best of the worst, not because he is good.

A well above average returner whose ball security brings him down to above average.

A below average runner whose change of pace skills are helpful, but he is still below average.

    A below average wide receiver.

He is not a trung candidate level bust, but imo opinion career backups who can’t get on the field much are not hits.

Understand, but no 1st or 2nd rounders this year and their percentage is a tad higher than the rest. 🙂

Possible, but it is well documented over many years that you are optimistic this time of year. 🙂

All these folks have time to develop and we may have filled out our practice squad with draft picks alone and given the upside of some, that could turn out to be a good thing.

Meat and potatoes draft of lineman and linebackers. I like it in that I think it was exactly what they needed given all the sparkle was picked up in the off-season.

Saving a couple million by trading tavon may help with a signing or two, so we have that going for us.
