The day of leverage or using LA as leverage has come to an end. The league knows this and so does Kroenke.
As for Dean Spanos, he hasn’t a leg to stand on in his contention about the 30 percent of his business that comes from LA.
The Chargers survived just fine from 1961 through 1994 with two teams in LA. In other words, Dean is full of crap and his 30 percent does not serve the league as well as having the Rams back in LA will.Grits
January 8, 2015 at 1:18 pm in reply to: Rams granted permission to speak with Greg Roman and Kyle Shanahan #15861GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantI’m really not in favor of Kyle Shannahan as the new OC.
Chudzinski would be a better choice.

20 years of this baloney of knowing the team was ripped from LA / SoCal / OC and remembering all the stuff that was said then and the last two decades and now being so close to having the team back in LA, gets my juices flowing a little
some times.Grits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantPLease, LA is full of distractions? So, there is no night life in STL?
LA the evil empire by the sea huh?
Grow up and get real.

GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantI call BS. LA deserves the Rams because the owner who was brought in as a minority investor with the express intent on keeping the Rams in St. Louis now (apparently) wants to move the team to LA? Deserving, no.
Naturually you would see it that way because your from St Louis who stole the Rams from LA.
Read Bernie’s column today. Even he admits the Rams were well supported in LA. There was no justification in 1995 other than GREED for moving the Rams to St Louis and St Louis didn’t give a damn about the feelings of the LA Rams fans.
Yah, the LA fans deserve their team back and a great wrong is finally going to be righted.
Grits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantJust curious where the little rascal
is hiding. Wonder what exactly he’ll say.
I mean it will take some WORLD-CLASS spinning
and diplomacy and weaseling to explain this
new Kroenke development to the St.Louis fans.I cant wait to hear how he handles this.
Oh! You’re talking about the luncheons! MUA HA HA HA HA!!!

vGreatRamNTheSkyParticipantLove it ZN. Now listen to a story about a man named Stan, a poor NFL owner who owned at team called the Rams….
His stadium sucked and he knew it but what was Stan to do? He loaded up the trucks and he moved to Inglewood!Grits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantGood listen. Marcellus Wiley is one of the more neutral and fair minded commentators I’ve listened to from any sports talk venue these past four years on this subject. He’s blatantly honest and for a long time he didn’t buy into the Rams moving thing but now he does and here he explains to Karraker and Farr why this is going to happen and why it will work in LA.
Same stuff I’ve been saying since this process started in February 2012 yet people here and other boards throw Shane Gray (laughable) into my face and Soka! Really. Time to smell the coffee folks cuz its happening.

GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantFirst of all to this bull about St Louis keeping the Rams name. DON’T MAKE ME LAUGH!!! If any city could keep the name of the team and the colors and the logo etc it would have been LA Keeping the Rams name in 1995. Where the hell do the St Louis fans think that their city has the right to keep the Rams name when the Rams were in LA for 50 years?!
Did Brooklyn keep the Dodgers name? Did the Bronx keep the Giants name when they moved to SF? Did Oakland keep the Raiders name when they moved to LA in 1982?
Did Houston keep the Oilers name when that franchise moved?
Lets stop the BS hate LA stuff and stuff about St Louis which STOLE THE TEAM IN THE FIRST PLACE keeping the name.

GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantGood post WV. I disagree with Farmer in that I think this is a done deal.
1. Kroenke is not stupid. He would not just make this move without acknowledgement from the league.
2. Could be Kroenke has agreed to be the heavy in this scenario so the league doesn’t take a beating PR wise.People in STL need to stop rationalizing this and accept what is happening.
Grits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantyah beat me to it! LOL. No PA, don’t be silly. Why would Stan build an 80,000 seat stadium in LA to stay in STL in a Stadium he doesn’t own?
Grits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantThe owner of the St. Louis Rams plans to build an NFL stadium in Inglewood, which could pave the way for the league’s return to Los Angeles..
Rams owner Stan Kroenke, who bought 60 acres adjacent to the Forum a year ago, has joined forces with the owners of the 238-acre Hollywood Park site, Stockbridge Capital Group. They plan to add an 80,000-seat NFL stadium and 6,000-seat performance venue to the already-massive development of retail, office, hotel and residential space, Stockbridge and the Kroenke Group told The Times.

GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantJosh Johnson might be worth a look.
Other than that, none of those guys appeals to me.

GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantI don’t think either is a reach. But that is my opinion. Then again when you consider this team drafted Greg Robinson at number 2 overall and Tavon Austin at number 8 overall the year before, YOU TELL ME WHO KNOWS BETTER!

GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantBrett Hundley presser after the victory over USC. Always good to hear these guys talk and how they handle themselves

Brett Hundley 2013 HighlightsGrits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantAnyone who thinks that QB is not a priority pick with the Rams at this time is fooling themselves.
Petty or Hundley would be fine with me but, you really want to go in the 2nd and 3rd round before you pick a QB?
You pay for what you get.

GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantSome Petty highlights from 2013
Grits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantHe was a great WR at USC.
Grits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantMaybe Chip is finding out his style doesn’t work in the pros.
Grits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantDon’t you think they are due or that the league owes them a season ending home game against Seattle?
Whether it be in LA or whereever.Grits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantI think this is kind of like just after the 1998 season and the Rams were about to can Dick Vermeil. They forced him to make changes to his staff and to bring in Martz as the OC. I think Fisher is only fooling himself if he thinks the offense will be any better next season with Schottenheimer. There are at least 4 guys who are OCs that are better than Schottenheimer, and they are available. Trestman, Chudzinski, Mike Shanahan, Mike Martz.
Grits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantI think your partially right ZN. But Schotty is not going to make anyone forget Mike Martz or Sid Gilman as a play caller. I don’t think he knows how to utilize the talent he has in Austin and Bailey etc.
I hope they replace him. He’s had three years to show what he has as a play caller. And even executing the plays still comes down to coaching.

December 29, 2014 at 6:06 am in reply to: Russ Lande explains why cutting ties with Bradford is best option for Rams #14901GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantBradford is a liability with his health issues. It would be a gamble that if it fails and he is hurt again the Rams lose big time again. They are not going to pay him 16 million for the coming season so this whole bringing Bradford back issue may be up to Sam and his agent. Sam has done nothing to justify or earn the contract he was given or the money he’s been paid.
I doubt very, very much Sam would come close to such a contract with any other team. Only a moron would pay Bradford that kind of money again.
I don’t know what legit veteran starting QBs you could bring in. I would guess the Rams may have to trade for one. Secondly they’d probably have to give up their 1st round pick to get a veteran starter with any talent.
Bringing Shaun Hill back is a waste of time. He’s horrible! And he has proven his horrible over the last several games.
I think the only top grade College QB the Rams have a shot at is Brett Hundley and if I were the Rams I’d definitely take that shot. I think Hundley has the talent and the smarts and with good coaching could be a legit upper caliber starter in the NFL.
Then the other concern is the Rams need to continue to build their offensive line. What they have right now is not good enough.

December 21, 2014 at 2:05 am in reply to: Dick Enberg! I grew up in LA listening to this man call Rams games on the Radio #14341GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantI had the same experience. The only radio we had until I was 12 was the family car radio so I’d sit in my parents 66 BelAire station wagon and listen to the game. They bought me a radio for Christmas when I was 12 and I wore that thing out listening to the Dodgers, Angels, Rams and Lakers in the late sixties and early seventies. Gawd how I loved to listen to Enberg, Vinny, Jerry Dogget, and Chicky Baby.
I know sdram, I know. Listening to Enberg call Rams games is part of the reason I think I became a Rams fan. He was very exciting to listen to. Enberg, Scully and Hearn. Man we were blessed were we not?

GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantFrom Mike Florio of ProFootball Talk this afternoon.
From Mike Florio:
“Despite the words used, the NFL won’t be returning to L.A. in 2015. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Saturday that Commissioner Roger Goodell informed the three contenders to relocate — the Rams, Raiders, and Chargers — that no team will move to Los Angeles next year. A league source tells PFT that, technically, the teams decided not to try to move next year.
It’s probably a distinction without a difference. However, Schefter’s report creates the impression that Goodell dictated the outcome to the teams. Given the year the league office has had, that’s not the most favorable message to send”
Florio says “Its probably a distinction without a difference” OH PLEASE!!!! So what we have and Florio just said it is Schefter and Rappaport are full of hot air. Sources that cannot be named are suddenly changing their story. Really? Is that right? IN MY OPINION FOLKS what we have here is good old ‘WHO CAN SCOOP WHO!” These guys, Schefter, Rappaport and even Florio are paid to be insiders! Same as Glazer or Mortenson or a few others you can name.
Remember in 2012 the Circus of the Insiders with all the different stuff they were coming up about Fisher and whether or not he was going to sign with the Rams or Dolphins. Schefter even went as far to say that Fisher was definitely signing with the Dolphins.
Unnamed sources oh how convenient! FACT IS FOLKS THE LEAGUE NEVER OFFICIALLY SAID ANY OF THIS ABOUT THE TEAMS POSSIBLY MOVING TO LA! THE LEAGUE NEVER OFFICALLY HAS SAID ANYTHING ABOUT NO TEAMS BEING ALLOWED TO MOVE TO LA IN 2015! And now we are told by Florio that Schefter had it wrong. It wasn’t the league or the Commissioner it was really the teams.
Huh?!
So far, only the Chargers have officially said they are not coming. The Raiders Mark Davis said they are trying to work things out with Oakland. Stan Kroenke hasn’t said a damn thing!
I think I’ll wait until either the league, the Commissioner or Mr. Kroenke officially say they are not coming if you don’t mind.
Grits
GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantGeez your delusional and you sure as hell are not making any sense. Your living off that Stan is a good old Missouri boy thing huh?
I’m done talking with you because you simply are living in never never land.
Don’t poop your shorts come Feb 15th when its announced they are moving.

Read an interview with Kroenke years ago that mentioned his mother-in-law is a huge St. Louis Rams fan too. How about tax liability in LA vs. St. Louis?
BNW where is the money coming from in St Louis? Who is going to pay for that stadium? You seem a bit myopic to deny that the Rams will triple their franchise value in LA. Right now, in case it has escaped you they are last or next to last in franchise value in the league. Plus they make the least amount of profit off their home games.
Plus the Rams are buying up tickets just to lift the blackout.
Lets not forget the millions still being paid on the original loan going back to 1995. They have at least 11 more years to pay those millions annually and now you want to add on top of that?
What business man in his right mind would not take the opportunity to be king in LA and triple his franchise value?
Kroenke owns the land and he knows how to get these things financed. You and your cronies in St Louis sit there and crow about Peacock and his Holy Grail plan and yet you give no credence or acknowledge that Kroenke has people who are good at developing a plan as well. The NFL has stated over and again the right owner and team for LA is what it will take. Well, Kroenke has the cash
and he is a savy businessman. The team is on the rise and soon will be a contender and they already have a fan base in LA.
The money awaiting the Rams and the league in LA far outweighs anything St Louis can offer. Those are the facts!Grits
