ParticipantWere I a jersey buyer/wearer I would get a number 8 jersey with Imperfect Scenario on the back.

ParticipantMaher doesn’t make me feel much better, but at this point in the season I guess it makes sense.

ParticipantEnh. I’ve seen all this too many times now. Somebody doing really well on a line with Aaron Donald. I dunno how good Turner really is. He’s certainly played well, and he’s ‘solid’ and he was a great draft pick. But more than that, I dunno. w v
This is undeniably true and it does make me wonder as well. However, there have been enough lineman who have not made had similar success while playing beside Donald. Suh for example had 4.5 sacks in 2018. I’m not sure how his role under Wade Phillips compared to what Turner is doing for Morris though. Probably not fair to compare guys like Brockers, Robinson, Gaines and Joseph-Day as they are different body types and different players. No doubt Leonard Floyd and Donte Fowler benefited. Although Floyd is having a decent season in Buffalo this year. Turner may not show as well once Donald retires, but I am thrilled with how well he has played as a rookie.

ParticipantI was curious about Ethan Evans. In 2022 while playing for Wingate he made 10 out of 18 field goal attempts with a long of 41 yards. I’d rather they bring back Lansford.

ParticipantRams clinch playoff spot with a week to go. Thanks Pittsburgh.

ParticipantAnd another thing again…3 TD’s from Kyren! I love that guy.

ParticipantAnother thing (albeit an obvious thing), for the Rams to have any hope having a winning season they needed big moments from rookies. Today Kobie Turner had 2.5 sacks and Puka had 118 yards receiving and a great run for a first down. Those were two picks that I was excited about back in April, but I had no clue they’d have the types of years that they are having. This really has to be the best rookie class the Rams have ever had. Hope all of their careers are long ones.

ParticipantAll the areas of vulnerability looked vulnerable today. Special teams, the secondary, the offensive line when a starter doesn’t play are things that are why will either cost the Rams a playoff berth or cause a first round exit. Still super psyched about how this team continues to push on and find ways to win with som many young guys and late additions. A winning season? Wow. Interesting storyline with Crosby missing an extra point and the game winning field goal.
On another note I watched most of the second half from a beachside bar in Aruba. I am disappointed to say that I am an obnoxious football fan after only a couple of margaritas. I was very much a stereotype today. So I’d like to apologize to everyone for my behaviour.

ParticipantOne thing that I’ve never been clear on is what are the responsibilities of an OC working with Seam McVay. They’re not calling plays, so what do they do exactly? I’m not trying to dismiss their roles, clearly some of them have been well regarded or else they wouldn’t be head coaches right now.
BTW zn, I think that I take your game day work on this board for granted. I really like scrolling though everything you post here before and after games. It’s nice to have everything in one place. Thank you.

ParticipantThe piece by Sam Farmer hit me right in the feels. I love that Stafford is the Rams quarterback. What a remarkable performance last night.
canadaram
ParticipantI’m still trying to figure out how Nacua made that sliding catch with the defender’s arm across his chest. A rookie sensation indeed. Stafford is absolutely stellar right now. Another Kyren TD.
I despise the Rams special teams play right now. Extremely bothersome to know that the offense can be fantastic and the defense can be good enough, but the special teams can throw it all away.
It’s the end of December and the Rams are a game over .500 and in the playoff hunt. Did not see this coming back in August.
canadaram
ParticipantRonnie Rivers! I meant to ask when he was expected to return. I couldn’t even remember if he was gone for the full season. I had liked how he was progressing before his injury, but now I have come to appreciate the big back that Freemen is. I haven’t thought about Zach Evans for a long time.

ParticipantThat final goal line stand ended up with a Washington TD but it was a crucial moment in the Rams overcoming brutal late game efforts from Havrisik and Kedrick. I can’t wait until the Rams upgrade Kendrick. Bobby Brown was important today. Kyren Williams remains a pleasure to watch, despite the fumbles. Hope he’s fresh on the short week.
The Saints must think that there are yards to gain through the air against this defense. I know I would if I were them.

Participant‘Gosh dang, I can’t believe that you made this throw,’” Kupp said.
Wow, I had no idea that Kupp has such a potty mouth.
That made me laugh.

ParticipantAlbert Breer@AlbertBreer I’ve felt this way for a while, and I think it’s really showing up today: The NFL has an offensive line issue.
This has been a talking point of Pat Kirwin on Sirius NFL Radio for a while. Same reasons suggested. Also some talk of college offenses being a contributor.

ParticipantOkay, so, Rams took Baltimore to overtime, which no one expected. Last week they beat the Browns, who at the time had the #1 defense but were starting Joe Flacco. This week the Browns, with Flacco at qb, beat the 8/4 Jaguars to make them 8/5. Lawrence started for Jacksonville.
Hopefully the playoff committee takes that into consideration with their rankings this week.

ParticipantEdits I would make were I able:
An inconsistent pass rush isn’t doing the db’s any favours but there were some costly blown coverages in this game
I shouldn’t post when I am in a rush.
canadaram
ParticipantThe usual shaky spots had a hand in this loss. The young secondary and special teams have had me watching some games through my fingers this year. A inconsistent pass rush isn’t doing the db’s any favours but we’re some costly blown coverages in this game. The special teams since Fassel left has reminded me of the special teams under Martz, minus Jeff Wilkins, so worse I guess. Hopefully, a lot of these problems are related to the youth and these experiences will result in some big wins in the future. On a positive note, Davis Allen looks like he might be a gem, and Puka and KyrenWilliams just keep on impressing. I sure appreciate meaningful football in December after my expectations in August. Shoutout to Demarcus Robison as well.
canadaram
ParticipantI’ve said it before but I think Kyren is the best red zone weapon that the Rams have had in quite some time.
canadaram
ParticipantMy prediction for the Rams back in August was 3 to 5 wins, so they have officially exceeded my expectations for the season. The Rams offense seemed dead in the water during the middle third of the game. That could have been because of Nacua being out for some of it, but the multiple false start penalties didn’t help either. That said, the Rams didn’t give up a sack all day, so there is something to be said about that. Stafford got bailed out on a couple of potential INTs, one of which looked like a pick 6. The Rams secondary looked vulnerable on both of the Browns scoring drives. Seems like a healthy offense with a quality quarterback should be able to inflict some damage against this unit. Yeah, they only gave up 19 points though, so I guess I should be happy. This season has gone better than I thought it would. I love Puka Nacua.
canadaram
ParticipantAssuming that he plays and is on the field on first and second downs, I’d like to see the Rams test Garrett early by running at him. Might be a moot point if he’s limited to passing situations though.
I don’t have a lot of confidence in the Rams offense to produce against this Browns defense. Hopefully Flacco is rusty for four quarters.canadaram
ParticipantShort, stocky, not very fast, but shifty
.
Yes, shifty. Before the injury Williams was having a great season based on his work inside the ten yard line alone. He just seems to find the smallest of creases to work his way across the goal line. A huge weapon when the Rams are in scoring position. If the Rams can get him consistently rolling outside of the redzone, things will get exciting.
canadaram
ParticipantToday Williams played like the next great Rams RB. Different running style than Faulk, Jackson or Gurley but today his numbers put me in mind of those three in their primes. Kupp limping after the first drive was concerning but glad he finished the game. Not sure how useful he is moving right now. Great day by the defense, but it was the Cardinals.

ParticipantI actually found myself feeling sentimental about John Wolford yesterday.
canadaram
ParticipantAfter yesterday’s loss the Rams would currently pick 9th in the draft. Arizona has the first pick.
canadaram
ParticipantA little worse than I expected.
canadaram
ParticipantThat’s kind of a bleak outlook. I think they will win more than just that game. They will beat AZ, probably. I think they have a better than 50-50 chance of beating the Commies and Giants. 50-50 to beat the Packers, Saints, and Seahawks (they just own Seattle the way SF owns them). They should lose to Dallas, but Dallas has a way of getting in their own way. Ravens, Browns, Niners…losses. I still think they are going to end with 8 or 9 wins (which is what I thought before the season started).
Well the Rams certainly have been competitive in every game so far, and that’s why I’m not calling this season a disappointment. So perhaps they can snatch a couple of more victories along the way. I just won’t be expecting it to happen on those game days
