There’s really nothing left in free agency. So you’d be talking draft. And some of the top guys in the draft are Brandon Scherff, La’el Collins, Andrus Peat
I like Flowers just as much as any of those guys and probably more than Schreff if we’re strictly talking about OTs. DJ Humphries is worthy of mention too.
EDIT: I guess he did use the word “some.”

canadaramParticipantIn the end I’m not going to get too worked up about what the NFL decides to do with the PAT, but having the players line up to smash into each other for a short yardage play seems counterintuitive when one considers the recent changes made in the name of player safety.
EDIT: I mean generally speaking currently PATs don’t involve a lot more than the opposing linemen standing up and breathing on each other.

canadaramParticipantThere’s also part of me that is intrigued with the idea of taking Gurley. Of course, that would be contingent on there being some decent run blocking.
canadaramParticipantJust to make things clear, I am drafting *Amari Cooper then La’el Collins at 10, if they are gone, I will try to trade down. That is just me though.
I’d be good with Cooper, Waynes, or an edge rusher. After that I’d be hoping for a trade down.
canadaramParticipantGetting Barksdale back would be great. This would give them some flexibility with that first pick.
canadaramParticipantWe are a pro Wes Anderson household and we loved Grand Budapest Hotel. We’ve seen’em all. Even “The Fantstic Mr. Fox” is great.
March 21, 2015 at 2:41 pm in reply to: How do people feel about Foles right now, before anything else happens? #21216canadaramParticipantAs it stands right now I have my doubts that Foles is the long term answer. I like a healthy Bradford (does such a person even exist?) better. My concerns about Foles are based mostly on the current state of the Rams oline. I can’t reach a state of cautious optimism about Foles until I’ve reached a state of equanimity about the oline.
March 20, 2015 at 12:38 pm in reply to: Linemen in the 2015 draft … including 2 good Cosell podcasts #21126canadaramParticipantHe is not just a guard. He could beat out Barksdale or replace Robinson if he got hurt. imo
I agree that he could probably play RT, but I’d hope for a trade down scenario if the Rams go this route. Don’t know if that’s possible this year though. I’m still Hoping for a Barksdale re-signing and then BPA in the first.
March 20, 2015 at 10:24 am in reply to: Linemen in the 2015 draft … including 2 good Cosell podcasts #21116canadaramParticipantEven with the obvious need, I do not want the Rams to draft a guard at ten. I’m a fan of Scherff, but there are good guards to be had in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
canadaramParticipantMaybe Fisher is still miffed because JT said the Rams would not beat the Broncos. If memory serves Fisher’s first comment at the post game PC was a jab at Thomas for his prediction. Actually, I don’t really think that’s the reason, but it’s an interesting relationship Fisher and Thomas seem to have.
March 18, 2015 at 9:09 pm in reply to: OL in free agency … Barksdale, Blalock, Wisniewski, etc. #20942canadaramParticipantAt this point I’d be happy with Barksdale re-signing and then the Rams can go BPA in the first round of the draft and focus on the interior line in rounds 2 through 4. If they can’t get Barksdale back then it looks like they may have painted themselves into a corner and they’ll have to find a RT in round one. They’ll still have to use early picks on the interior line after that of course.
canadaramParticipantDepending on who else is signed/drafted he sounds like this year’s Mike Person.
canadaramParticipant@tmcdonaldjr: I understand this is a dangerous game but we know what we signed up for. Been playin all our life.. Don’t change up now #justball @nfl
canadaramParticipantTotally get the need to address oline this offseason and in the draft. That said the only way I want them to pick oline in the first round is if there is still a need at ROT. Even then I’d rather not pick a right tackle at number ten. I don’t know what trade down opportunities they’ll have though. There will be some good choices for the interior line in the 2nd, 3rd and maybe even the 4th round.
canadaramParticipantI enjoyed reading that. I love when late round picks and UDFAs pay off. I remember a surprising amount of angst for a late rd pick at the other board over the Drafting of Sims. Many were upset that the Rams had picked Mike Hoomanawanui over DE, Ricky Sapp. Gil Brandt liked the selection of Sims because of his speed and explosion. He’s been a great contributor. Kind of reminds me of Tyoka Jackson light in some ways.
canadaramParticipantI don’t think it alters their draft strategy.
I’m sure oline help is on the agenda at some point, but they might be painting themselves into a corner on draft weekend if they can’t get something done soon.
canadaramParticipantI wonder if there is any interest in recently released cardinals center, Lyle Sendlein?
canadaramParticipantAnyone believe that this makes a WR in the first less likely?

All of my friends/sources in Philly are saying that the Eagles have a deal with the Jets who covet Sam Bradford.if this is true, maybe it was a three team trade?
If true, What the hell happens with the conditions? Do they just roll over to New York, or because Bradford doesn’t start a game for the Eagles, the conditional 3rd rounder goes to Philadelphia?
canadaramParticipantThey waived him to make room for Barron if memory serves. It’s a weird that the Rams are trading for a guy they released, but when you look at the whole picture including the Rams current status at QB it’s not as ridiculous at Rotopat suggests. Of course, my view is a tad biased.
canadaramParticipantI’m very pleased with his news. Jack-of-all-trades type of TE.
canadaramParticipantLike many here I am a Bradford fan and see him as a QB capable of taking a team to the playoffs. His redzone play has been solid, he’s not prone to turnovers and he’s got a great arm. If he stays healthy he will be a good player wherever he ends up. Having said that, I am ambivalent about this trade. Foles has shown that he can play well in the NFL too. He played wounded last year, the guy is tough.
canadaramParticipantTheRamsFan @TheRamsFan
Not many Rams fans agree, but I see Trae Waynes as a worthy pick at 10 & meeting a need for the Rams. Your thoughts?
@nwagoner: As I’ve mentioned in this space before, cornerback is more of a need than some believe, but it’s not a pressing one. It’s one that will come into focus after next season, though. Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson are free agents after the 2015 season. The Rams have high hopes for E.J. Gaines to be one of their starters long-term, which would allow Lamarcus Joyner to slide into the nickel. The question becomes who is the other outside cornerback. My sense is that Jenkins is more likely to stick around long term than Johnson, but that remains to be seen. Trae Waynes would be a great fit from a skills standpoint, and again, I don’t think we can rule out anything in terms of the Rams’ approach to the draft. They aren’t afraid to do things that go against conventional wisdom. If all things are equal, they need to spend that pick on offense, but if things break a certain way and there is no obvious offensive player or trade-down option there, perhaps Waynes is one to watch.I like Waymes a lot and would have no problem with the Rams taking him at ten. I felt that way before he ran his blazing 40 at the Combine. For having such a solid front seven the Rams secondary gave up too many big plays las year.
canadaramParticipantI’ve seen some internet whining regarding the potential re-signing of Hill. I’ve no idea what available options might be better. I do think that the Rams could do much worse than Hill as far as veteran back ups go.
- This reply was modified 9 years, 9 months ago by canadaram.
canadaramParticipantIt’s ok. It’s the FO’s new strategy. The Rams will wait for him to agree to terms with another team, and then the that team will get cold feet and make up an excuse about Barksdale’s health and back out of the deal. Barksdale will then return to the Rams. That’s how these things always go.
canadaramParticipantCan’t really argue with his main point, but given the success of spread offenses in the NCAA I doubt this problem will go away anytime soon.
canadaramParticipantBOOOOOOO!!!!
While watching the mud bowl as a young lad, t’was the horns that drew me in to this labyrinth filled misery of Rams fandom.
canadaramParticipantI didn’t think the super bowl play was exactly like the SD game either. Still, it totally took me back to that moment in San Diego. Or to that moment in when I watched it in my mancave.
January 19, 2015 at 12:46 pm in reply to: Alex Van Pelt or Chudzinski for OC? Rams ask permission to speak to both. #16872canadaramParticipantI like the Van Pelt bloodlines. Intelligence combined with a ruthless desire for success, even if it means humiliating a few people along the way.
