ParticipantI agree with zn’s thoughts about replacing Schottenheimer. There were some draft errors too, but every team has those.

ParticipantI know that Quinn went on IR today, but that article is from when he went on IR last year. The rams didn’t play the bears this year. Unless there was a game you all kept secret from me. Also, TJ isn’t on IR, Cunningham is on IR.

ParticipantDavid Shaw and Kyle Shanahan intrigue me the most. Admittedly I know very little about Shanahan and I know only a little bit more about Shaw. I have a lousy record at predicting HC success so ultimately I don’t really care who it is at this point. I just don’t want it to be Jeremy Shockey or Terrell Owens.
December 6, 2016 at 11:58 pm in reply to: Wondering why the Rams gave Jeff Fisher an extension? Here’s one good reason #60484canadaram
ParticipantIt’s nice to read an article about Fisher that doesn’t resort to jabs and snide remarks. There’s some good stuff in there for sure. I say this as a guy who’d be fine with Rams and Fisher going there separate ways after this season.

ParticipantTwo years ain’t exactly a vote of overwhelming confidence. As I’ve said many times I’m ambivalent about Fisher. According to some on the net this makes me somebody who is complicit with losing. At any rate, I think I’ll go watch some meltdowns elsewhere.

ParticipantI’ve started cycling over the past 5 years. I used to run regularly, but my calves no longer handle it well at all. I still run occasionally, but during the summer I usually ride 5-6 days per week. I lift light weights a couple times per week as well. In the winter I x-country ski. I have a fat (tire) bike now, so I plan to ride that this winter as well as ski.

ParticipantI’m indifferent when it comes to Fisher’s future as the Rams HC. Sometimes me being that way makes me feel like I’m a bad Rams fan. When I see some of the internet hysteria about Fisher, I ask myself why am I not taking up the fire Fisher cause? What’s wrong with me? I still like the Rams just as I’ve always have since the 70s. Therefore, I should probably curse Fisher’s existence, but I don’t. If someone wants to take my Rams Fan membership card away from me I’d understand.
Anyway, if Fisher is fired some names that would interest me to replace him include Kyle Shanahan, Rob Chudzinski, David Shaw and Jim Harbaugh. Although, if I’m Shaw or Harbaugh I would never want to leave my college gig.

I guess thats two games where Ogletree sealed the win
with a late Turnover.Still not many sacks for this D or turnovers.
w
vThe Rams are 2-0 when scoring no TDs and Ogletree gets a late game turnover.

ParticipantSo incredibly sad.

ParticipantWhat I found.
Ok. I hope Hayes and Quinn are able to present some problems for Carolina on Sunday. Yikes on Brockers. A groin injury can be pretty limiting, and the drop off from Brockers to Cam Thomas is pretty noticeable. I don’t want Brockers rushed back though.

ParticipantDid Hayes have a setback with his ankle, or is his DNP just precautionary?

ParticipantWhile I preferred Wentz over Goff, after watching Goff in the preseason I am fine with the Rams giving him as long as needed to figure things out. I still don’t know if Goff will ever develop to the point of being a good NFL QB, but if there are aspects of the game that he’s still struggling with in practice then I’d rather he not play until he’s past them. Keenum’s limitations are likely to always be there, but with the exception of the Niners game he’s been good enough to give the Rams a chance. That’s all I really expect from a backup QB. That’s good enough for me, at least for now.
canadaram
Participant1. I understand why Rams fans want
Jared Goff under center when they return from their bye week to host the Panthers next week. You’re not only tired of watching Case Keenum, but you’re tired of watching Case Keenum and then hearing from analysts how two interceptions weren’t Keenum’s fault but also ignore the four other throws that absolutely should have been intercepted but instead fell incomplete.
We’ll see if there’s fire with the smoke of Steve Wyche’s report that the Rams are getting Goff ready. But it’s not a surprise if Goff isn’t ready yet. While the NFL has borrowed elements of the Air Raid offense, it isn’t an NFL offense. Goff’s time at Cal, unlike Carson Wentz’s time at North Dakota State, didn’t prepare him to run an NFL offense. He needed to be programmed, and that’s fine. I’ve run this list out about 14 times (and I’ve only written about 30 of these columns), but these are quarterbacks who also sat for a lengthy amount of time to begin their NFL careers: Tony Romo (three-plus years), Aaron Rodgers (three years), Philip Rivers (two years), Tom Brady (one-plus year), Drew Brees (one year), Carson Palmer (one year), Eli Manning (half a year).
So all the Goff questions we get around here: Is Jared Goff a bust?, Is it fair to say the Rams should have taken Carson Wentz since Jared Goff can’t even beat out Case Keenum? On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the worst bust of all time and 10 being merely the worst bust of the last decade, how would you rate Jared Goff? Jared Goff is clearly not good at football. Sorry, I forgot to ask a question. Just because he’s not playing doesn’t mean he won’t be good. There’s no such thing as “too late” for a developing quarterback to ascend to the starting role (maybe for the head coach’s tenure, but not for the QB’s development). And you can do real damage by sending a guy out there too early. For instance…canadaram
ParticipantI think virtually everyone is in at least partial disagreement with everyone else on something, at least to an extent, yet it’s a pleasure to read.
These are very divisive issues right now but it’s actually fun to read all the threads and get different takes on stuff.Yes, I think this thought daily. It’s almost as if people here don’t understand how communication on the internet is supposed to work.

ParticipantI would think the Bye would help. One would think that. Ya know.
Yes, this bye week comes at a good time. I don’t know how far away Brockers and Johnson are from returning, but Quinn will be another week healthier and if Brockers and Johnson are back on the field the defense will be good enough to win some games.
I’ll take Fisher at his word about sticking with Keenum. However, I wonder if the other part of his quote means that he intends to make other changes on offense. I’m not trying to read too much into Fisher saying that he would make other changes before changing QBs, but if he were to make changes does he mean at WR? And if he does would that mean Cooper and/or Spruce would play more? Who would they replace? Does it mean more targets for Thomas? Does it mean changes on the o-line? Does it mean more carries for Cunningham and Brown? All of the above? He’s made post bye week changes before, so it will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

ParticipantI watch The Trailer Park Boys, The Office (English and American versions) and 30 Rock on Netflix.
Love of all those shows. Trailer Park Boys is Canada’s gift to the world.

ParticipantSo much potential there. I hope that he can eliminate the crippling mistakes or else it will all be for naught.

ParticipantI agree. He’s he same guy. He’s just in the right place and in good health. I’m happy for him. I’m still disappointed that he was traded by the Rams. I hope he stays in Minnesota and keeps tearing it for a few more years. That’s hard for me to say because I dislike the Vikings so much.
October 19, 2016 at 8:39 pm in reply to: Informal poll: will the Rams beat the GIANTS in London? #55618canadaram
ParticipantI say OBJ’s 275 yards receiving on the day make winning a tall order for the Rams. I’m guessing Jenkins gets a pick 6 as well.

ParticipantMy annoyance with the show really began in season 5 though. I thought that the Gareth storyline ended way too abruptly and then the show just meandered along with the characters. I was really bothered with the way that Eugene’s solution was all just a big lie. Yep, season 5 is where I began to turn on the show. I stuck it out last year, but I doubt I make it through this season if things don’t change.
canadaram
ParticipantI think the show’s best stuff was in the first three seasons. Its getting more uneven now.
Yes, yes, yes! The show has really taken a turn toward the strange, and I’m not sure that it will keep my interest for much longer. I disliked so much about season 6. This includes everything that you mentioned. The choices that Rick’s crew began to make were similar to what dumb victims do in slasher movies. I didn’t like the cliff hanger ending at all.

ParticipantAt least the Rams have a bye week after London. Perhaps he returns after that rest week. That’s would be only two games missed. High sprains can really linger though, so who knows?
canadaram
ParticipantThey can, but they won’t. Gurley will be kept in check and Keenum will be harassed all game.
Shady McCoy will be a huge factor, breaking off long runs after the Rams D seemingly has him pinned in the backfield. I also expect Shady to have a big day in the screen game as the Bills take advantage of Williams’ aggressive schemes.

ParticipantHow incredible is Aaron Donald? He continues to amaze me.
All Brian Quick does is catch touchdowns.

SUMMARY: Under-recruited out of high school, Christian signed with Division-II Midwestern State and became a starter as a sophomore, leading the Mustangs in tackles each of the last three seasons from the “whip” and free safety positions. Christian finished his senior season with 95 tackles, two forced fumbles and one interception to earn the 2015 Cliff Harris Award (top small school defensive player) and All-American honors. He is eager to throw his body around as a tackler, loading behind his pads and playing with violence to deliver bone-jarring hits – holds the all-time school record for career tackles (295). While physical, Christian arrives too hot and needs to clean up his technique to eliminate the missed tackles. He waits for the action to unfold before reacting, lacking the play anticipation needed for the NFL, but he is rangy with the requisite speed, toughness and competitive appetite for the position – one of the top Division-II prospects this year. -
