canadaramParticipant
One hope that I am clinging to in regards to the offense is that last season the run blocking was terrible in the first few weeks and then gradually improved by the end of September/early October. I can only hope that history repeats this year. Gurley really isn’t getting any help up front right now. The defense has had two good weeks, but I’m still not sold on the secondary. Unless the pass rush is lights out next week I can see Winston having a huge game.
Good game by Britt and some good moments from Kendricks. The departure of Cook was the best thing that could have happened for Lance. I’ve always been a Kendricks fan. On another note, some of those sacks that Keenum took in the 4th quarter were back breakers. Anyway, i am eagerly awaiting the additions of Spruce, Cooper and eventually Goff. No idea if they will make an impact this year, but the passing game is tough to watch.
Very happy to have been wrong about my prediction this week.
September 15, 2016 at 8:19 am in reply to: Informal poll… will the Rams rebound against Seattle? #52969canadaramParticipantIf by rebound you mean put some points on the board, then yes I think that they will rebound. If by rebound you mean beat Seattle, I say no. I don’t think it will be all that close of a game either.
canadaramParticipantI thought the guard play was surprisingly bad. They couldn’t anchor against the bull rush and they couldn’t get outside on screens and runs around the ends when they had to pull.
I thought Joyner struggled. Sensabaugh had decent position sometimes but still gave up plays.
Cam Thomas is an enormous man, but he gets pushed around easily.
Kudos to Kenny Britt for being the only average player on offense last night.
Hekker is in mid season form. I’m glad that he’s a Ram.
Quinn needs some time before he’s in game shape.
I understand some fans calls for Goff to play immediately, but I would rather the Rams wait until the offense settles down a bit.
Lots of other stuff, but I’m working on memory and I don’t want to rewatch the game.
canadaramParticipantYou fool.
…the Rams running game will be solid…
canadaramParticipantNo. I think Carlos Hyde will be a headache. Also, the Rams secondary will make the Niners passing game look better than it is. Conversely, While the Rams running game will be solid, the passing game will be slow out of the gate.
I also predict that come Tuesday morning I will be the most tired and the most cranky of every Rams fan on Earth.
canadaramParticipantI wonder if Arkin gets shuffled to the PS?
canadaramParticipantI thought something was up when Ayers was playing the entire first half of the final preseason game.
September 3, 2016 at 10:27 pm in reply to: informal poll: Goff not starting, being #3 – disaster? not concerned? #52206canadaramParticipantDisappointed and moderately concerned about what seemed like a lack of progress from the first preseason game to the last preseason game.
September 3, 2016 at 10:24 pm in reply to: informal poll: Rams record…predicti-guesses (barring injuries) #52205canadaramParticipantShaky back 7 + below average passing game that allows teams to stack the box vs Gurley = 6 wins
September 2, 2016 at 7:07 am in reply to: Fisher: Goff likely to open season as No. 3 quarterback #52022canadaramParticipantWhile I have to admit that I’m disappointed that it came to this, I think that it’s the right decision. It would be nice if Keenum develops into the ultimate game manager in the meantime. Maybe the Rams can break .500 if all the cards fall into place, or if all the Cards fall on their face. Get it?
canadaramParticipantI watched the first half live on Minneapolis TV. Goff was money on the opening drive. He moved well, kept his eyes downfield and just looked like he knew what he was doing. When the starters came out after that drive he looked lost and confused. There were a couple of tipped balls at the LOS, one of them led to his INT. Receivers continued to drop the ball as well. Conversely, DT Morgan Fox was everywhere vs the Vikings backup OL. I hope that they find a way to get him on the practice squad. Perhaps they have caught lightning in a bottle with Fox, or maybe the Vikings back ups are terrible. Speaking of the Rams D, I thought that they blitzed a lot for a 4th PS game. Maybe I shouldn’t be too surprised that Williams would blitz in any game, I dunno. While many of the starters did not play, there were several regulars out there during the first quarter and Ayers played late into the 1st half if not all of the 1st half. The secondary played a lot of off coverage and gave up some yards in the process. Finally, the tackling on the Jerome Pressley TD was terrible. Unless Keenum shocks me and plays beyond what I think he can do I’m expecting another 5-7 win season from this team.

August 21, 2016 at 11:01 pm in reply to: youtube party…post a song you like which you think is not that widely known #51348canadaramParticipantcanadaramParticipant…not so good for Quick.
Up until now I’ve been a supporter of Quick. I thought that he looked much improved before his injury two seasons ago. He looked aggressive, he looked like he was finally playing up to his size. I was willing to give him a pass last year. After all, he had a tough injury to come back from. However, if he continues to play like he did vs. the Chiefs I do not understand how he can make the team. Furthermore, if Quick is cut that leaves Britt as the only WR who is really an outside WR at the NFL level. I’m not saying that Austin, Cooper, Spruce or Marquez can’t play outside if they have to, but it seems like WR is destined to forever be a position of need since the departures of Bruce and Holt.
canadaramParticipantNice. They eventually need to get Farr in the booth though. He’s good.
Agreed. Farr is good on game day.
canadaramParticipantI see that the Jets released Zac Stacy today. If the Rams want to replace Mason I wonder if they would go back that direction. I’m a Cunningham fan and I am encouraged by Malcolm Brown. Aside from the scouting reports that I have read I don’t know what the Rams have in Aaron Green. Anyway, sounds like there might be a spot up for grabs in the backfield.
canadaramParticipantDoes this mean that in 2018 the Rams will have their bye in week 2? Not a fan of these games at all.
canadaramParticipantWell, u could do what i did — skip the ‘geography’ parts.
That leaves only about ten pages, btw.
lol.
Thanks for the tip. Even then I will probably have to be in a unique frame of mind to get through those ten pages.
canadaramParticipantThe Lord of the Rings is my foil. Several times I have tried to read that book yet I can never get past 20 pages or so. My eyes glaze over every time. I’m pretty sure that all of my friends have read the all the LOTR books plus The Hobbit. I will try again some day soon, but for now it remains my shame.
canadaramParticipant…or bad Robinson gif.
canadaramParticipantImpressive transformation from May to June. Also, an impressive display of firewood both in volume and organization.
canadaramParticipantThis is the most optimistic that I have been about the offensive line in a long-long time. Granted, the bar has been set pretty low in the last decade.

canadaramParticipantThat finland-war-thingy seemed quite complicated. Kinda like the spanish civil war.
The region Karelia is something that I heard my mother’s family talking about while I was growing up. I never really started taking much interest in Karelia until recently. These links include some pictures of flags and coats of arms.

canadaramParticipantI enjoy reading about Scandinavia. My mother’s grandparents migrated from Finland and the families of my partner’s parents came from the region (mom born in Denmark; dad’s grandparents migrated from Finland). The area in which I live has many families Swedish, Finish or Danish heritage. Actually, it seems there are lots of Scandinvian ties from Minneapolis all up to my region of Lake Superior. While I consider myself somewhere near the centre of the political spectrum I’m always a little disappointed how negatively some people on this side of the ocean react to the Scandinavian way of doing things. I guess I’m not without my own biases, of course.
My great grandma considered herself a Red Guard Finn. She used to take part in secret meetings and sorts of shenanigans that the Canadian government used to fear back in the day.

canadaramParticipantIf trump wins I will not move to Canada.
However, I might move Canada.
Just to be on the safe side.
Now that’s funny!
May 26, 2016 at 10:47 am in reply to: Keenum will be the starter to open camp…how close or far is Goff? #44755canadaramParticipantI’m glad that he’s not regressing.
canadaramParticipantcanadaramParticipantYou’re doing good work, CR. Adding stuff to the mix. Thanks.
Just saw this now. Thanks and you’re welcome.
I love the draft and all the hope that goes with it, even if that hope often goes unrewarded. Reading and sharing information about drafted prospects is something that I always look forward to. I’m just glad to have a place like this where it can happen.

canadaramParticipantI no longer cry myself to sleep at night. So I think I’ve settled in with Goff.
canadaramParticipantMarx once wrote said that one of the principle products of capitalism was stupidity.
This afternoon as I was rushing to get ready to go out I was watching a David Suzuki show on TV. It was about how mining was impacting the indigenous people of Peru. The part that I saw was about how Hunt Oil, a company from Texas, wanted to go in and do exploratory drilling to investigate the feasibilty of setting up shop in the Amazon Rainforest. The environmental impact while hardly surprising was severe, but the part that I found most disturbing or disappointing was the social impact that Hunt Oil was having on the tribes people. According to the show, Hunt Oil focused on villages that were candidates for being influenced by he lure of money. It was described as a divide and conquer strategy. One village was offered $30 000. The villagers gathered to discuss hat to do with the money. One of the leaders pushed for using the money for medical purposes, but in the end the people decided to divide the money up equally among the families. The whole situation caused social problems that the indigenous people had never had to deal with before. It was an older episode, so I’m not sure what has happened since. Anyway, the stupidity part of the quote you cited above made me think about what I had watched.
