znModeratorRams GM disputes reports of tension with Fisher
Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead on Friday disputed reports of ongoing tension with coach Jeff Fisher, specifically a story from MMQB.com that called the relationship between the two “toxic” and used sources who referred to their dynamics as “junior high,” Akdeb Gonzalez of ESPN.com.
Snead called that report “very false” and “definitely inaccurate.”
“I’m well aware of what has come out, and I can say this: I think it’s painted a picture totally different,” Snead said. “Relationship’s really good. We’ve worked together from the start, in every decision. Every decision that’s made, especially from a personnel standpoint.”
Said Fisher: “I don’t know where this came from. Les and I have been on the same page since day one. We communicate all the time, we work together, we make decisions together. I don’t know where it’s coming from. I’ll find out.”
Fisher was asked multiple questions about Snead and never went out of his way to offer much praise, hinting at what many believe is a tense relationship between GM and coach. Snead read the comments and said they “went over my back.” He said the two meet twice a day, usually in the morning and in the evening, and constantly referred to their working dynamics as a partnership.
“I didn’t blow it out of proportion in any way at all,” Snead said of Fisher’s comments. “I was aware that we both were in the same boat in terms of getting an extension. At that point in time, didn’t know the details of each other’s. I didn’t know his details, and vice versa.”

znModeratorA Rams’ Jeff Fisher and Les Snead talk openly about so-called ‘Toxic’ Relationship
NFL GM Les Snead and NFL head coach Jeff Fisher attend The ESPYS in Los Angeles. On Friday, they openly discussed their relationship which reportedly was called “toxic.”
Sometimes the most toxic people in your life are disguised as your family.
That’s logically the case with Los Angeles general manager Les Snead and head coach Jeff Fisher who have become family after an arranged marriage by Rams’ owner Stan Kroenke brought them together in 2012.Kroenke cleaned house of the then St. Louis Rams after the 2011 season, firing both head coach Steve Spagnuolo and general manager Billy Devaney on the same day.
Since then, Fisher and Snead have had their ups and downs over the last four seasons, but things exploded on Thursday when a MMQB story by Albert Breer on SI.comstated that things between Fisher and Snead were “toxic,” and that the Rams practice facility in Thousand Oaks, CA was a “junior high” atmosphere. Both Fisher and Snead disputed that report on Friday morning and vowed to find the “anonymous source,” that was quoted in the Breer article.
“I don’t know where it’s coming from, but I’ll find out,” said Fisher. “In our business, unnamed sources, they’re not good. If we’ve got sources from within the organization that are speaking, then we’ll address it. But there are no issues between Les and I.”Snead ushered the same sentiment when he met with reporters about an hour before Fisher did.
“The working relationship is good,” Snead said.
Was Jeff Fisher Justified in Eric Dickerson Ban?
Fisher and Snead each received two-year contract extensions before the season began, but an announcement didn’t come until last Sunday morning before the Rams faced the New England Patriots in Foxborough.
Fisher was asked about Snead’s extension after practice on Tuesday and he told reporters that he was “honestly, unaware,” that his GM of the last four years had received an extension and added “we need to do a better job from a personnel standpoint,” a comment that the media took as a jab at Snead.

However, Snead saw the comments and said that he did not take them personally.
“I didn’t blow it out of proportion in any way,” said Snead. “I realized we were in the same boat as far as getting extensions.”
LA Rams Future Looks Eerily Similar to Past
As for the comments about a “junior high” environment at the facility, Fisher said those came from the “writer or editor” of the story and did not believe that anyone in the organization feels that way.
“I don’t know where that’s coming from, but I don’t pay as close attention to those things as you do because I’m more concerned about the Falcons,” said Fisher. “But I’ll just say this again, Les and I are fine. We work together. We talk every day. ”
For now, Fisher and Snead are focused on football and snapping a three-game losing streak by beating the Atlanta Falcons at the Coliseum on Sunday, but the witch hunt for the unnamed source within the organization has officially begun amidst the dramatic Hollywood backdrop that has become the 2016 Rams season.December 10, 2016 at 5:55 am #60647
znModeratorLes Snead defines relationship with Jeff Fisher as ‘really good’
Alden Gonzalez
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead and coach Jeff Fisher “don’t go hunting and fishing together.” Snead said as much on Friday morning, in the wake of reports describing ongoing tension between the two, and immediately realized how that statement would play.
“If you write that,” Snead said, smiling, “you have to finish it.”
Snead went on to say he considers himself “the only guy from Alabama who doesn’t hunt and fish.” Fisher is from Southern California, but he loves the outdoors in that sense. So Snead always tells Fisher that they act as if they are from each other’s birthplaces.
Now, as for their relationship?
“I’m well-aware of what has come out, and I can say this — I think it’s painted a picture totally different,” Snead said. “Relationship’s really good. We’ve worked together from the start, in every decision, every decision that’s made. Especially from a personnel standpoint.”
Snead was reacting mostly to a story on MMQB.com that called the relationship between the two “toxic” and quoted unnamed sources in referring to their dynamics as “junior high.” Snead called that report “very false” and “definitely inaccurate” while meeting with reporters a few minutes before Friday’s practice, and Fisher echoed the same sentiments shortly after his team wrapped up.
“I don’t know where this came from,” Fisher said. “Les and I have been on the same page since day one. We communicate all the time; we work together; we make decisions together. I don’t know where it’s coming from. I’ll find out.”
Snead and Fisher were entering the final year of their original contracts, but both received extensions through the 2018 season.
The news leaked Sunday morning, though the organization was clearly hopeful of avoiding an announcement until season’s end. Fisher confirmed his own extension after Sunday’s 26-10 loss to the New England Patriots but said Tuesday that he was “unaware” Snead also received an extension.
“I’m so busy here,” Fisher said then, “I was honestly unaware that he was extended.”
