Prediction: Refs throw a bunch of flags in preseason related to new helmet rule to send a message and everybody gets all worked up about it. Then they barely call it during the regular season

Rams Jared Goff heating up in 11 on 11 drills – a 30 yard completion to Robert Woods followed by dropping a 50 yard pass to Michael Thomas for a TD. Strong session for Woods who also had another 30 yard reception from Goff

Nice little wheel route hook up between #Rams Jared Goff and Todd Gurley for a 70 yard TD

#Rams TE Gerald Everett getting a shoulder injury checked out according to Sean McVay. Rams hoping for more clarity later tonight/tomorrow

McVay said Gerald Everett has a shoulder injury, severity TBD. Joyner has Achilles soreness. Longacre has biceps injury.

We talk all day about Wentz vs Goff and how that was a mistake but bottom line even as someone who wanted Wentz. The only mistake that would have been made was not trading up for either one of those two QB’s.

i wanted wentz. as it turns out, either way would have been a good choice (or at least it would seem at this point). but i was completely wrong about goff. and in fact i might actually like him a little more than wentz at this point.

smooth. still has more in him too it seems like.

The draft reports said Wentz was more pro-ready, and would make an earlier splash, but that Goff was the better long-term prospect. He had more to learn coming from the spread, and playing his entire career in the shotgun.

He did really well his second year. Better than I expected given that he had to learn a new system, and adjust to new receivers. But last year he had a good supporting cast, something he didn’t have his first year. So…I expect him to continue to get better at this point, and I liked how he composed himself under his rookie circumstances: lousy OC, no weapons but Gurley, and a poor OL.

It will be interesting to compare the two QBs this year, and for years to come. They are both good.

High praise: #Rams CB Marcus Peters is predicting future Pro Bowls for safety John Johnson

After watching 3 1/2 quarters of this game, I have no idea how coaches are going to teach defensive players how to make a “legal” tackle in the @NFL. I’m looking at textbook wrap-up tackles drawing flags tonight. I just don’t know how you can legislate contact out of the game

If I’m a @NFL head coach watching the flags thrown around in the preseason for helmet hits and unnecessary roughness, I’m telling my OC to throw the ball all over the yard. I’m using more spread and empty sets, and daring defenders to make “legal” tackles in the open field..

As an offense, this approach is either going to lead to a bunch of explosive plays on missed tackles or a lot of “free” yards on penalties. Either way, the passing game should be the preferred method of choice for OCs in today’s game.. Too many advantages

Rams players/coaches today shrugged off the idea that the new NFL helmet-hit rule would be difficult.
I wonder if they will feel different after watching tonight’s preseason game…

Yesterday, McVay tried to paint the in/out nature of Lamarcus Joyner’s camp as being part of normal rotations, but Joyner isn’t in drills today so something is up. Also not seeing Longacre, who left early yesterday.

There are 45 million reasons why Todd Gurley could take it easy, but the guaranteed dollars in the $60-million extension he signed last week only seem to have inspired him to keep working.
