January 4, 2016 at 3:15 pm #36607TSRFParticipantWhat’s with all this David Lynch stuff all the sudden?
Bad director filled with bad ideas. Not suave at all. Trying my best to forget everything he ever did.
Before I can even start to plot / plan travel next year, what are the odds we’re still in the NFC West next year?
Thanks a bunch.

1) I do not believe that the Rams will move conferences next year since the 2016 schedules have already been defined
URL = http://www.fbschedules.com/nfl-16/2016-st-louis-rams-football-schedule.php
2016 St. Louis Rams Opponents
Home Arizona, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta, Carolina, Buffalo, Miami, NY Giants
Away Arizona, San Francisco, Seattle, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, New England, NY Jets, Detroit
2) with a $500M relocation fee, I’m not sure that Mark Davis (Raiders) has the funds to formally do that unless the league helps.
The Rams will stay in the NFC west next year,
furthermore, In the long term, I do not think that the Rams will be affected by re-alignment if they move to So. Cal.Personally, I think the Raiders will share Levi Stadium with SF.
a) Yorks rent out that stadium to all kinds of events for additional revenue, (motocross, college bowl games, soccer matches, concerts etc)b) I don’t think that corporate sponsors in the local SF bay area will want to buy advertising in 2 stadiums in the same market. e.g., I don’t think that Bud Light will have signs at both Levi and in Oakland.

But who would you rather have coaching the Rams:
Jeff Fisher or David Lynch?I mean, assuming they couldnt get
the Coen Brothers.w
vJanuary 4, 2016 at 4:04 pm #36619TSRFParticipantDavid Lynch!
But only if he can bring Frank Booth as his QB or OC.
Log Lady as Equipment Manager.
If not, maybe David Byrne. Or David Bowie. Or David Crosby.
Definitely not David Copperfield; too much “magic” is already swirling around this team.
January 4, 2016 at 4:17 pm #36622TSRFParticipantI thought that as part of the relocation to ST L, the Rams were at the bottom of the totem pole regarding realignment (i.e. if the NFL wanted to realign, the Rams say “where”).
If only the Rams go to LA, they would (and should) stay in the NFC West.
If the Raiders and Chargers go to LA, they both can’t stay in the AFC West. One would have to go to the NFC West and the Rams would have to move to the AFC West.
If this all goes down, I don’t see why they just couldn’t do a simple schedule swap; Raiders or Chargers for Rams, and verse visa…
January 4, 2016 at 8:22 pm #36629ZooeyModeratorYeah, the schedules are set. There will certainly be no divisional realignment for next year no matter what. But if it ends up being the Chargers and Raiders in LA, they could co-exist for one season. Or they could make the Raiders wait to leave Oakland until the stadium is completed while the Chargers play in the Coliseum. There has been some chat about the Chargers getting into LA earlier anyway so they can get the jump on fan loyalty. Why that is fair and reasonable, I have no idea, but I’ve read that more than once. Spanos seems to think it’s fair because he is closest to LA and claims fans in the area, though both the Raiders and Rams have fans in the area, too, and as I recall, one of the league studies showed the Rams had the most support of the 3 teams within LA itself. But that is the talk.
Anyway, I can’t help but feel somehow the Raiders are going to get the short end of the stick because they are not a Big Boy financially. They are going to get some kind of compromised deal I would think. They can’t do ANYTHING other than stay right where they are without somebody’s help, and I don’t think anybody wants to do them any kind of favors, especially expensive ones. So if the Chargers/Raiders/Carson deal wins out, I would expect the Raiders would move there later, and realignment would happen at that time.
The $500 million relocation fee can be paid in installments over the years, so the Raiders can do it. They will basically take out a 2nd mortgage.
January 5, 2016 at 9:58 am #36648nittany ramModeratorBe warned. If the Rams end up in the AFC I’m going join a militia and occupy the visitor’s center at our local state park until they’re back in the NFC.

I will join you there. Peacefully, of course. And I’m prepared to stay for years…as long as there is internet access and a big screen TV for the games.
