The thing that gets me is how our receivers get blasted for “never getting separation” or making the tough catch.
What gets overlooked constantly is how they do get open but the ball is never there “on time”. When is the last time you’ve seen them complete a basic out when the ball was already in the air as the receiver was COMING OUT OF HIS BREAK rather than waiting on the ball as the defenders close on the play?
I get there are plays that need to be made. But let’s not overlook the role the poor QB play has factored into the WR play in this team. Accuracy and timing are the two most important things in a successful passing attack. And this team has neither.
No one was complaining about the running game when Gurley was ripping off 4 straight 140+ yard games with a relatively healthy OLINE.
The biggest issue for me with Cignetti was the oversimplification of the offense and how predictable his play calling had become. The ran basically four plays. Was this due to the limitations of the personnel or his inability to be more creative?
I guess we will find out over the next four weeks.

December 9, 2015 at 6:29 am #35363PA RamParticipantI agree about the offense becoming predictable. It seems like the defense was always ready for that first play of the game when they would handoff to Gurley. They were waiting on it. I heard Farr often comment on how the defense saw this or that coming.
But I feel it is a legitimate criticism of these receivers that they do not make the tough catches. I see receivers all over the league do it week after week. It feels like Sammy Watkins gets very little separation but he gets the ball anyway. Some guys hand fight very well and they just make sure they get the ball if it’s up there.
If the Rams receivers are contested they usually drop the ball.
Of course they would benefit from a QB who would get them the ball at better spots or when they are open but no QB does that on every throw either.
This team does not have THE guy yet at the receiver position.
And I am so tired of Brian Quick at this point. We get next to nothing out of him. I thought last year he was turning a corner. Not so much this year.
Tavon is their best receiver because of what he can do–and at least they finally found ways of using him this year. That’s a bright spot. But the team would benefit from a true #1.
They can’t get everything this year so I doubt they go there in the draft but we’ll see how it falls. Maybe they find one.

“leader of men” kinda guy, rather than
an “X’s and O’s Genius” kinda guy.At any rate, I think we all agree there’s been
a contatenation of problems on Offense,
probably starting withtwo Rookies on the OLine,
Greg Robinson’s lack of improvement,
and then
the numerous injuries on the OLine
caused,
Foles (who had plenty of flaws to begin with) to be bulgerized, and
finally his
total meltdown,
which has affected
the Receivers,
though Cook is inherently unreliable,
and Kendricks was injured,
and Stedman was shot in the head,
and Tavon is not a particularly reliable WR,
and Britt seems to have a limited
number of routes where he’s effective so
he can be shut down often. And then perhaps Cignetti was not up to
dealing with all this stuff. So, it looks like next year they will have to
get the OLine healthy — HOPE that GRob improves
(or move him inside),
figure out if Foles can come back or Mannion
can be the guy, or draft a QB….and cut Cook,
and add a vet WR, and draft a WR high. And of course they have to make all the right
moves on defense: Sign Long? Cut Long? Hayes?
Janoris? Tru?w

ConcatenationConcatenation (from Latin concatenare, to link together) is taking two or more separately located things and placing them side-by-side next to each other so that they can now be treated as one thing. In computer programming and data processing, two or more character strings are sometimes concatenated for the purpose of saving space or so that they can be addressed as a single item. (Of course, some way may be needed to know how to unconcatenate them later.)
A simple way to remember concatenation is to think of any word. What makes a word separate from other words is that all the letters are lined up together with no intervening spaces. That is, in a word, all letters are concatenated. Sometimes new words can be made by concatenating two existing words – for example, “airline” is a concatenation of the words “air” and “line” into a new word.

I think Mannion will be ready next year.
I am drafting some new and BETTER WRs and TEs and an extra QB. Along the way, I will add a DE and maybe a CB. It just depends on how the draft plays out.
As long as Linehan isn’t the HC, I am not worried about coaching either.

vI am drafting another QB anyway and maybe Foles can be saved? Gabbert in SF got saved. Or just keep looking until you find one. That is what Seattle did.
Imagine how much smarter Fisher and Cignetti would be if Foles had worked out. 😉
