Forbes had a bad game today.

3 different times in this game I thought Stafford was going to pull off another 4 qtr comeback.

That delay of game was huge…

9-3 is still very good, but you can’t leave 10-2 on the table like that…

I thought it would be close. Sigh. Every loss is huge at this point, given the importance of the bye and playing at home. Playing AT Chicago, Philly or Seattle is not a good idea.

I thought the Rams gave away the other two losses, but this one is different, to me. Carolina just wanted it more and it showed. And sure, if the Rams dont turn the ball over they still win, but Carolina outplayed them today, out hit them, had more energy. Not by much, but it was what it was.

    9-3.

    Bears 9-3, Packers 8-3-1, Eagles 8-4, 49ers 8-4, Seahawks, (8-3 pending)

Its like The Game of Thrones, this year.

“And who are you, the proud Lord said
that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat,
that’s all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red,
    a lion still has claws.
And, mine are as long and sharp, my Lord
as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
    that Lord of Castamere,
but now the rains weep o’er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes, now the rains weep o’er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.”

It was good to see them, but a tough loss to witness. Hard to blame Stafford, after such a long strong, finally coming back to earth. But he still bears responsibility for his turnovers. Forbes played poorly in crucial moments. Rams run defense wasn’t good. They really need to win out now.

As WV mentioned, the bye is essential, and they let it go, at least for now. Gotta win out and hope other teams falter.

Highlight for the ages was that Puka catch. My jaw just dropped seeing that. Right now, my favorite Ram.

    To expand on that.

Carolina’s press from last week pissed em off so they got it together.

The Rams press had them trusting too blithely in their superiority.

Though this is one game where they really could have run more than they did. Rams got 152 yards rushing on 21 attempts, for 7.2 a carry. Everyone talks about the Carolina run game, but they just ran it more often. If the Rams had run it 40 times, as Carolina did, that would have been 288 yards.

rams definitely could have run it more.

the defense also couldn’t stop them on third and fourth downs. panthers were 7-15 on third downs. 3-3 on fourth downs. one of those fourth down conversions was for the game winning td i believe.

that and the turnovers. hopefully this is a timely wake up call for the last five games of the season.

I agree with everyone else’s observations here.

The Rams are better than the Panthers, and this game changes nothing about my season expectations. Looked to me like the Rams just got out-willed by a team they took for granted, not unlike the loss to the 49ers in Week 5. Even with the superior effort by Carolina, the Rams win that game if not for the doink interception off that guy’s helmet. The Rams are up 14-0 without that fluke, and on their way. I mean 3-0 in TOs, and still barely lost? They’re fine.

Still, as JoeMad noted, Forbes was noticeably deficient. And I think the rain got to the Rams a bit. I would hope this would be a lesson (that every team has to learn, multiple times) that you can’t just show up and win without giving it everything. With the Rams rolling, and getting all the media love, this was the ideal game to get brought back to earth for the Rams. Out of division, and before the Lions/Seahawks gauntlet that is on the horizon. This loss didn’t “expose” the Rams. Stafford had a subpar game, but that doesn’t mean the previous six weeks were a fluke. The Rams are real. They may be the best team in the league. And they spilled their cocoa down the front of their shirt yesterday. It happens.

Move on. Turn the page. Let’s go. Etc.
