Last year we were 4-4 through 8 games; this year we’re 6-2. A big difference is the way we start games. Last year we scored 13 points in the first quarter through the first 8 games. This year, 41. Last year we allowed 49 first quarter points, this year 23.
Last year we won the TOP 4 times and were 1-3. We lost the TOP and went 3-1. This year we’ve won the TOP 3 times and we’re 3-0. We’re 3-2 when we lose the TOP. Time of possession isn’t as important as what you do with the time you possess the ball. The Red Zone numbers are greatly improved on both sides of the ball and definitely another big reason for our turnaround. Last year we were 14 of 27 (51.85%) in the RZ over the first 8 games and allowed 13 of 28 (46.4%). This year we’re 21 of 35 (60%) and have allowed 9 of 23 (39.1%– defensively that’s good enough for #2 in the NFL). Huge.

Stewart filling the Hoecht role when he’s in … from the X-backer (or joker) to being the apex defender … he’s someone who can rush and cover pretty well.Such a good draft pick

1. Los Angeles Rams (Up 2)
This current iteration of the Rams feels like Sean McVay’s zenith. The passing game is excelling, and Matthew Stafford (92.5 grade; 2nd) is playing at an MVP level. The running game, which has often been a point of contention in recent years, is performing well, and the defense is one of the best in the NFL. The Rams cruised past the 49ers 42-26 to set up a collision course with the Seahawks in Week 11. Two of the best will go head-to-head.
…
8. Seattle Seahawks (Up 1)
The Seahawks blew past the Arizona Cardinals to move to 7-2 on the season and come just a little bit closer to making the playoffs for the first time since 2022. This Seahawks team is relentless on both sides of the ball and is top 10 in EPA per play allowed on defense. Two excellent defensive scores lifted Seattle. Although Sam Darnold (93.1 grade; 1st) only attempted 12 passes, the passing game looked like one of the best in the NFL — just as it has all season.

znModeratorPro Football Focus’ grading system puts into perspective just how dominant the Rams’ run blocking has been this year. PFF has given the Rams a grade of 89.1 in that department, making them the only team with a grade higher than 78.2. They’re miles ahead of everyone else, with the Lions (78.2) and Colts (78.0) ranking second and third, respectively.

Rams WR TuTu Atwell is running to the side at practice. He’s been on injured reserve the past two games with a hamstring injury but the Rams are hopeful he’ll only miss two more.
