Sean McVay is pleased with how Bennett looked in these spring practices.

He talked about the progress both Bennett and Garoppolo have made thus far.

“There were some opportunities where Stetson came in – I was really pleased with his overall improvement, his command, like I mentioned, his attention in the meetings and then when he got his opportunities, whether it was in some 7-on-7 or even in some of the team periods, they’re taking steps in the right direction,” McVay said.

If Higbee isn’t healthy for Week 1, Parkinson is someone to keep a close eye on because the Rams are excited about his potential after he was buried on the Seahawks’ depth chart for the last three years.

McVay said recently that Parkinson will add “real value” to the Rams offense this season and he’s impressed in practice already with his size and catch radius at 6-foot-7. He can be an impactful player right away this season if Higbee is out for the start of the season.

The #Rams offered the #Jets No. 19 and No. 52 to move up to No. 10 during the NFL draft.

After the #Jets traded down one spot with the #Vikings, the #Rams got back on the phone with the Jets and offered their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks to move up to No. 11, along with a 6th rounder.

    The Jets still wouldn’t budge.

The Rams’ target was, in fact, Brock Bowers.

Rams offered 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th to the Jets for Brock Bowers??

Really?   The kid is ‘that’ good?

    I dunno, man.

I dont like to think of the Rams DLine without the new DE and DT.

It will be interesting to watch the season Brock Bowers has this year.

We asked @JourdanRodrigue  who we should keep our eyes on through the remainder of the offseason. Nick Hampton, Davis Allen and Russ Yeast were all honorable mentions. But for Jordan Whittington was the pick.

Wow. I’m glad the Jets refused.

    That would have been

    Verse

    Fiske

    Corum or Kinchens

    and

    Davis, Karty, Whittington, or Limmer

    for Brock Bowers.

That’s a fucking Mike Martz move.

I’m not sure I would give that much up for Tony Gonzales considering, as you say, the DLine needs. I’m sure a HOF TE would make the Rams the #1 offense in the league, but they are gonna be Top 5 anyway, I would think. Meanwhile, you HAVE to get pressure on the opposing QB, or you lose football games too often.

Like I wrote in “Finding Rams” – the Rams had just three R1 players who came up on their surveys as consensus “make him a Ram”. Verse also one, FWIW. x.com/mysportsupdate…

the Rams’ ST unit will be better this year than they were last year — allocating more time in practice, attention to detail, etc. will all be reasons why they’ll improve. It wasn’t as big of a focus last year as it is now.
me @ moi.com: This is really Rodrigue’s observation going back to last season. In podcasts she pointed out that with a huge increase in new, young personnel the Rams could not commit as much time to drilling and practicing for special teams–that time had to be spent on suddenly very young offensive and defensive units. Last year also lacked a lot of special teams veterans. Problems with STs went way beyond just the kicker. This year the offense and defense are more “settled in” so they can go back to spending time in drills and practices working on special teams. If you think about it, why did McVay, who does not normally have a reluctant trigger finger, keep the coordinator for the worst special teams unit in the league? It makes sense that he kept Blackburn because he knew that in preparing a young team to play well in the league, they sacrificed practice time for the special teams units. That’s not Blackburn’s fault. This year in contrast, Blackburn will be liable if they are giving STs the time they need and they still don’t come through.

the niners and rams also ranked #1 and #2 in opening drive scoring last season, but the niners did a better job scoring tds:
niners: 10 tds and 2 field goals
rams: 6 tds and 6 field goals
    .

    under mcvay:

stafford ranks #3 in % of 3rd down passes completed for a 1st down, and #6 in 3rd down qb rating (among top 35 qbs in pass att).

goff ranked #3 in % of 3rd down passes completed for a 1st down, and #4 in 3rd down qb rating.

moral of the story: mcvay is a badass.

    roberto clemente@rclemente2121 rams 2023:
    week 1-11
    week 12-17

I prefer to do it as weeks 1-9 (record 3/6) v. week 11-18, after the week 10 bye (record 7/1). I think the bye is a serious and significant dividing point.

It would take a lot to do all the relevant the numbers so I’ll save that part. Though fwiw I can do a quick comparison of points for/against. Before the bye, Rams points for/against averaged 19.66/22.66. In the 8 games after the bye, they averaged 28.25/21.6. That’s a 43.7% increase in scoring. The points for/against differential (ie. scoring margin) went from 3.00 to +6.65, a swing of 9.65.

If each “half” of the season was ranked against the stats for the league for the whole season, it would go like this:

    PF, before bye: 23rd
    PA, before bye: 22nd
    point differential, before bye: 23rd

    PF, after bye: 3rd
    PA, after bye: 15th
    point differential, after bye: 5th
