Nobody in the NFL has scored more touchdowns since 2016 than Todd Gurley (69). And remember…@TG3II didn’t even play a snap last season.

I don’t think people understand how truly dominant he was. If he never had problems with his knee, he could’ve been a top 3 RB in NFL History

The Rams have had some weird endings.   Kevin Carter, Kurt Warner, Todd Gurley,  Eric Dickerson, Jerome Bettis…

McVay does that too. But it doesn’t seem like a boneheaded miscalculation with him, the way it was with Bettis and probably Warner too, and it’s never personal (I don’t think…well except for Goff, there seemed to be a personal element in that). With him, it’s starting to be a pattern, and it looks more ruthless than it does weird. Dumped all their corners in 2019, during the season, and added Ramsey. Dumped Wilson and added Staley. Dumped Woods and added Robinson. Goff for Stafford. It looks like an integral part of who he is. You can at least see the logic behind it, and when I say “ruthless” that’s a mixed thing–on the one hand it seems cold, and on the other hand it’s in the name of upgrading. Part of it is like he’s a dating partner who changes overnight after meeting someone richer. It looks like impulsive reaching for opportunities, and no one can say it is all choices.

he needed four more seasons.  but yeah.  his numbers were ridiculous for 2 seasons until his age 25 season.  i don’t know about top 3.  but hall of fame?  yes.

Yeah, Higbee to me is the most under-rated Ram.  (Hes not under-rated to hard-core ram fans; I’m just talkin about National sports-talkers)

McVay makes a point of saying the TE’s do a ‘Lot’ of things in his offense.

Higbee is at least as valuable as Ernie Conwell was.

i’d say he’s more valuable. and given different circumstances he could be putting up more of the sexy stats that other higher profile tight ends do.

and mcvay has a history with that position going back to washington.

the TOP FIVE teams in the NFC right now

As long as they remain healthy, I think the Rams might be better this season than last.  The Bucs haven’t beaten the Rams since Brady’s been there.  What has changed this year to make them better than the Rams?

I think the Vikings might be better than the Cards now that they have a good offensive coach in O’Connell.  Lots of talent on that offense.  I’m not sure the Packers are that good anymore.  They have no one at receiver.  I could see them finishing behind the Vikings.

i gotta say that i’m a little worried about the rams offense.  oline will be significantly different.

there might be a slight improvement in the skill positions with allen robinson.  might be.  and even then it won’t matter if the oline isn’t right.

and in coaching there’ll be significant change.  i’m actually a little optimistic there, but it’s still a question mark.

I’d say, Bucs are 1A and Rams are 1B.

Losing Von Miller is significant, of course.   I dont think you replace a Von Miller.   Losing OBJ is significant.

And Tampa was decimated by injuries last year.   So the Rams caught a break there.

Still, the Rams seem to have the Bucs number, and match up well.

To me though the wildcard is the 49ers.   Put ‘any’ top QB on the 49ers, and I’d pick them to win it all.    They remind me of that Tampa Buc team that lost to the Rams but then came back to win it all the next year or so.

As always, some team no-one is thinking about will play well and

and surprise.   Maybe Washington?   The Saints?

AFC is too psycho to say anything about.

Losing Miller means losing one kind of top defense. Getting Wagner means getting a different kind of top defense.

To be honest, if it were all up to me, I would prefer the Miller type of top defense. Impossible to block in the passing game.

But I do acknowledge that the Wagner type of top defense is a good thing in its own right too. Hard to sustain long drives against it.

I’d rather have Miller than Wagner, too. I would have preferred Clowney to Wagner. Jones looks like an emerging stud in the middle in his own right, and right now, the Rams are counting on Justin Hollins to bring heat, and maybe he will, but that seems like a long shot.

Trade some 2027 picks for Robert Quinn.

i’m in the miller group too.  him leaving just sucked.  it really sucked.  bad.  i’d rather have the unstoppable pass rush.

but i don’t know about clowney.  i’d rather go wags and then see if garrett or hollins develop.  it’s a deep class for edge.  it’s almost a consensus that edge is the deepest position this draft.  so draft another guy and see who emerges.

but yeah.  if i had my choice, ida preferred the rams bring miller back.

I think you guys are underestimating what Wagner does for the defense. I personally like the unstoppable pass rush style of D, but I don’t dismiss what Wagner adds. (On paper anyway) he addresses the greatest Rams defensive weakness, one we’ve seen for a couple of years and which is always demoralizing to watch when it happens. The run D and exploitation of short passing to the middle. With Wagner (on paper anyway) we will see fewer long drives against the Rams. You know how those look…demoralizing, frustrating drives that last all day. Wagner fixes that.

Do we have to go all the way back to London Fletcher to

find a Ram Middle Linebacker that brings what BW does?

Probably. But I think BW has more than Fletcher did, and I liked Fletcher a lot.

i don’t think the defense will necessarily be worse. but i just remember seeing that pass rush go off in the playoffs. and how effective it was.

but it was also vulnerable to certain types of teams. and i don’t think that will be a problem next year with wags back there.

and i still think the rams could find another pass rusher. i think hollins could be that guy. garrett. a draft pick. if they can find that guy the defense should be real good.
