Kupp and his story are like a Norman Rockwell painting.

I mean, if Rockwell did a football painting, Kupp would be in it.

Most of yall have probly seen this vid, but here it is in case you havent seen it. Some of this vid is just priceless.

If you watch that 8 minute Billy Stephens vid, Stephens goes on about

Kupps ability to get separation and then he shows an example at about the 3:50 mark or so. But there aint much separation there at all. Which shows how much of this is on Stafford. The throw is what was perfect in that example, not the ‘separation.’

The Stafford season, and the Kupp season arent really separate-able

imho. It was the Stafford-Kupp dynamic.

I use the ‘burst, glide, burst’ technique in the 8 items or less

In reading/watching info about Kupp and his mindset, work habits, and study habits, it seems a good bet he will continue to have great years in the next few years. I do not think this year is going to be an aberration. Stafford-to-Kupp should continue to be an elite combo — as long as both remain healthy.

It will be interesting to see what the Rams surround Kupp with. Can Woods rebound from the injury? OBJ? Is Higby going to be ok?

I’m not a fan of Van Jefferson.

The only issue with Kupp is age, IMO. He’ll be 29 this upcoming season. He was an older rookie, at 24, so the number of peak years left for him isn’t on the high side. But, as you mention, given his work ethic and overall mindset, he may just be able to blow up those assumptions too.

I like Jefferson’s game a bit more than you do, but I think he needs to toughen up. As Zooey mentioned, he doesn’t really fight for contested footballs. Josh Reynolds was better at that than Jefferson. So, beyond Woods, the wide-receiver room isn’t as strong as it could be.

Before OBJ got hurt, it was looking like the best in the NFL. A healthy Kupp, Woods, OBJ, and Jefferson is likely tops.

Higbee should be fine, and if Harris puts on another twenty pounds of good weight, they should be set there, too, with Hopkins and Blanton. That becomes a strong group as well.

Didnt realize he was that old. Damn.

Well, he should be prime-kupp for two more years, anyway.

    Two more triple-crowns, then 🙂

I think the likelihood that Jefferson will “toughen up “is about the same as the likelihood I will be able to afford a trip into space. It’s possible…

if either harris or hopkins can come through, that could be quite the tight end group.

So, who is the ‘best’ WR in the NFL ?

I still keep hearing the talking-heads

pick Davante Adams. I cant think of a single National talking head

who thinks Kupp is the best in the NFL.

I never watch Adams so, I dont know much about him.

I always think of Tyreek Hill of the Chiefs, myself. He seems like

“the most dangerous” to me. Then there’s Chase of the Bengals.

And then there’s that white guy on the rams.

Look at the Yards per catch of Ja’marr Chase and Deebo Samuel.

    Chase – 18

    Deebo – 18.2

No-one else is close to those two. Now, I can see Chase having that kind of stat. But Deebo? Damn.

    Receiving stats:https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/player/_/stat/receiving/table/receiving/sort/receivingYards/dir/desc

    Kupp is 13.4.

    Davante Adams 12.6

well. kupp has only done it for one season. maybe two. so that hurts him. granted 2021 was insane. i mean arguably the best season by a wide receiver in history… personally i would say the best. but i’m biased. i would also want to look at what percentage of passing yards on the rams’ offense was kupp. what percentage of touchdowns on the rams’ offense was kupp. and compare those numbers to other recevier seasons considered the best… same for receptions… i think seeing those numbers would be interesting. and that’s not even taking into consideration his blocking ability.

davante adams has strung together four outstanding seasons. he had a dip in 2019, but he only played 12 games that season. same with tyreek hill. he’s strung together multiple outstanding seasons. and there’s also justin jefferson. and he’ll only be 23 going into next season! so it downgrades kupp in my eyes.

but i can’t help but think what kind of numbers kupp would have put up with stafford as his qb. megatron put up hall of fame numbers with stafford as his qb. and i’m sure megatron helped make stafford. but i think stafford also helped make megatron. and i think we saw it happen last year with kupp. if kupp played with stafford the past five seasons? what would we be saying now about kupp?

but regardless he’s up there. i don’t know if i’d take another receiver over him. i don’t really watch the other guys play. but kupp seems to fit this offense so well. not just with the catching and the running. but with the blocking. the run after the catch ability. even rushing the ball… he’s like a running back. i don’t know that the above mentioned wide receivers can bring all those elements to the table like coop can.

looking up justin jefferson. o’connell wants him to be the cooper kupp of the vikings offense.

“Absolutely,” O’Connell said. “The one thing about Cooper Kupp this past season is he lined up in a lot of different spots. It was hard for defenses to really know where he was. He did a lot of different things. He had an impact in a lot of phases of our offense beyond just catching a lot of balls and scoring a lot of touchdowns. There was a huge role for Cooper because of his willingness to be completely solidified in every phase, both the run and the pass.

“I see that with Justin. I see an incredible, incredible skillset, but I also see a player we can move around. We can make it hard for defenses to know where he’s going to be. He doesn’t have to line up in the same spot all the time. He doesn’t have to run the same type of routes all the time. He’s dynamic with the ball in his hands. He’s willing in the run game. This guy’s a special, special player. I loved him a couple years ago when he was coming out of the draft. We obviously weren’t in a position to possibly get a chance to coach him. You still go through the process. You see the traits, you see the skillset. He’s really just grown from day one.

Just as an aside, i was looking at Receiving stats, and Rushing stats.

J Taylor had 1811 rush yards. At no.2 Nick Chubb had 1259.

Thats quite a difference between the no.1 and no.2 rankings.

I dont think any other category has that kind of drop-off between

the top player and the no.2 player.

Taylor may have had a better year than Kupp.

    hmmm… good point.

the running back position is almost a forgotten position isn’t it? it used to be almost as important as quarterback. when i first started watching football, i watched guys like barry sanders and emmitt smith. legends. and then faulk and tomlinson. i thought gurley had a chance to reach that echelon. but that knee wouldn’t hold up.

it’s rare that you get a running back putting up those kind of numbers nowadays.

I suppose Deebo is the perfect modern RB-hybrid. Every team would

    like a Deebo.
