They’re righting at the peak time. Or. Uh. Something like that…

    With health, too.

Cam Akers, despite the two fumbles Sunday, has made a difference. Ernest Jones should make a difference as well. The Rams have done okay in those departments without those two guys, but like you said, peaking. Peaking is good.

I think they benefited from gagging up the lead in Week 18 to the 49ers.  I think they learned a solid appreciation for playing the full 60 minutes, and that helped them the past two weeks, too.

Should they lose to the 49ers, I will be unhappy.

I am fully on board for a Lombardi this year in a way I have not been in a long, long time. And what’s weird is that, if you had asked me 4 weeks ago, I would have thought winning two playoff games was about the high expectation.

Not any more. Minus the uncharacteristic flurry of unforced errors in the 4th quarter, the Rams have played dominantly in all phases of the game, and I think they are the most talented team left in the playoffs.

Anybody know when teams have to say who is playing?

I saw somewhere that Whitworth is likely to go, and Jones, but none of the others.

Noteboom is apparently questionable, too, with a pec injury.

Some of the celebrity-sports-experts argued that “just knowing Tom Brady was on the other side” made the rams ‘tight’ and caused those mistakes.   Dont shoot the messenger.   Just passing that along.

After reviewing the Kupp fumble, the ruling from me is that it was also self-inflicted. The only one of the TOs that the Bucs can take credit for is Suh’s attack on the ball on Akers’ second fumble.

Celebrity sports experts are paid to fill minutes of airtime.

If the Rams were tight because of Brady, it would be the Defense, not the Offense.

SF has beaten the Rams in LA, the Cowboys in Dallas, and the Pack in Green Bay. They’ve owned McVay. Six in a row for Shannahan. Dee-Bo could beat Chuck Norris with one ankle in a cast. I see a pick6 coming in the first half. Live by the gunslinger, die by the gunslinger. Or somethin. 49ers 20 Rams 10 w v

I am 10-10 on the games so far, the only time in my life I ever have been. I don’t keep track of this statistic, but I doubt I really ever get much about 50%.

I have a Rams-Bengals Super Bowl. Which may be the least interesting matchup for the masses nationwide, but that isn’t my responsibility.

    Rams 27

    49ers 17

Orlovsky said that there wasn’t a defensive breakdown on that 70 yd pass to Kupp. He said Stafford held the safety in the center of the field with his eyes so that Kupp could break open.

I don’t think there was, either. Arians said not everybody blitzed who was supposed to, but the only guy up there who didn’t blitz is the guy with the green sticker on his helmet. He knew what the call was because he’s the one that made it.

Arians was just covering for Bowles.

Edit: Oops. You were talking about the TD pass, not the pass that  set up the game-winning FG.

    Regardless, I’m brilliant.

    I agree with Sims.

Yeah that was a good take on the game.

    Isn’t that what you saw?

I think the Rams kicked the Bucs’ ass all day long. They just had 4 fluke things happen in the same game. I can’t remember the last time the Rams botched a snap from center like that, and when is the last time Kupp fumbled? Not this year, I don’t think. And Akers fumbling twice in one game? In any event, the short field goal, the first Akers’ fumble, and the botched snap had NOTHING to do with the Bucs. Self-inflicted wounds, all 3 of those.

And it’s not like the fold against the 9ers in week 18, either. The Rams let off the gas in that game.

The Bucs game just got hexed by some astrological something something. Had nothing to do with the game. The Rams killed them.

    Whitworth status? w v

CBS site says “Questionable.” But it says that for Deebo, too.

If I had to choose, I’d take a healthy Whitworth over a healthy Deebo. TBH.

Boy, this is going to be an intense game.

I think you should watch this one live, wv.

So, does McVay go for the win with 35 seconds to play, with Jarod Goff?

I dunno, but even if he does, I doubt Goff throws it to the guy on the “for the love of the game” route.

You know that guy who threw deep into double and triple coverage and got picked off earlier this season?

That’s the guy who made the biggest throw for the Rams since Warner to Bruce in XXIV.

It’s a good thing Stafford recognized the coverage and made this decision. His gun-slinging cost a couple of INTs earlier in the season, but yesterday, it won the game. This one was different, of course. It wasn’t into double or triple coverage. But still… great read, great route, great throw, great catch.

It goes without saying that the Rams can’t turn over the football against the Niners. They can’t. And, at the same time, they need to cause the Niners to turn the ball over. The Rams’ D obviously has the personnel for that.

This is a thread for the next game, not the last game, but I have to say something.

The Rams’ D played fantastic yesterday. If it weren’t for 3 terrible TOs that gave the Bucs very short fields, the final score would have reflected the Rams’ complete dominance yesterday. They beat the crap out of the Bucs. And they were destined to do that with the Bucs’ offense so depleted. It was a mismatch on that side of the ball.

Looking forward to next week – yeah – the Rams can’t do that again. They almost couldn’t get away with it Sunday.

I like the Rams’ chances to beat SF, for reasons I’ve already given, but if they turn the ball over like that, they won’t survive. They aren’t going to dominate SF. It will be a nerve-wracking game, probably.

I checked the injury report this morning, and Kittle is not on it. Deebo is listed as Questionable. Mohammed Sanu is listed as “Expected to return Week 21.” OTOH the Rams have SJD, Jones, and Rochell on the “Expected to return” list. So it looks like both teams are approximately full strength for this time of year.

If the NFL could take Sunday, and make a roller coaster out of it, they would have the best amusement park in the country.

Good job. It’s all completely new. Lots of new additions.

Yeah. Well, it’s really great all these changes going on here, and all, and nobody consulted us because this isn’t an anarcho-syndicalist commune, or anything.

Just a bunch of dictatorial changes perpetuating the social and economic differences in our society.

Deebo hopped off the field on one foot. I’m hoping for a high ankle sprain. Nothing serious. Nothing that he won’t recover from in 5 or 6 weeks.

Kittle also toddled off gingerly, but that looked like a fairly routine owie.

According to ESPN Stats & Information research, the Rams became the first team to win a playoff game after losing four or more fumbles since the 1975 Pittsburgh Steelers, who won the AFC Championship over the Raiders despite four lost fumbles.

Yeah, I wish the Rams coulda fumbled one more time, so they could have the record.

But I guess I’ll just take the tie, and settle for the win.

Possibly the best Divisional Round in NFL history?

All 4 games decided on the last play?

    Yeah, ya gotta think.

    My goodness.

    That wore me out.

The Rams really dominated that game, then did the only thing they could possibly do to make that game close – gag the ball up multiple times. And miss a FG.

They had multiple opportunities to put that game away, and didn’t do it.

I don’t know how many times in my life I have started praying for multiple TOs from the other team so the Rams could come back, and it never, ever happened. The lord nearly answered those desperate prayers of thousands of Bucs fans today.

    And even so…the Rams won.

With whatever … 43 seconds? How the hell did the Bucs let Kupp get over the top on that play?

    Good grief.

    What a weekend of football.

Boy, the talking heads are going to have themselves an endless party tomorrow.

Every single game was won on the last play. And that Bills/Chiefs thing. I saw only the last 4 minutes, but that was a good time to tune in, I guess.

What an epic weekend for the NFL.

    Just wow.

rams really needed to end the niners that last week.

No matter whom the Rams play, they’re going to be a good team capable of beating the Rams.

Don’t you think it would be sweeter to beat the 9ers NEXT week?

Their 5 or 6 game win streak will be washed away, never to be heard of again. The Rams will own the ultimate STFU.

Well, they’re not going to do it this year, either.

When I wrote it, the Packers were up 10-3. Now, we have a chance to have the NFC title game at home, if we can beat January Tom, and the Buccaneers. But if we do win tomorrow, the 9ers scare me, because we lost 6 straight to them.

Me, too. But not as much as the Packers in Green Bay with the high temperature for the day projected to be 23 degrees. I like the Rams chances at home against SF better than on the road in freezing weather.

And the Rams had the 9ers down two weeks ago, and they let up. If they get the lead like that again, they will not ease off the gas. The Rams will go the full 60 minutes in that game.

    But first the pesky Buccaneers.

Man, I have never had my script for the playoffs followed like this ever in my life.

The two teams I feared the most both lost today, and if the Rams win tomorrow, they get to host the Championship against the 9ers in their 15th consecutive game, and a gimpy Deebo Samuel.

    I’m totally down.

Take care of business tomorrow, and let’s go.
