The Rams are 15-10-2 all time against the Steelers.

They started out 12-1-2 against them. The Steelers have owned them since the Super Bowl.

Last time the Rams beat the Steelers was 20 years ago.

He argues the owners designed the new NFL to protect and highlight skill sets that Brady has.  Not skill sets Barry Sanders had.   The guy then argues Barry Sanders was the by far the more talented player, but the owners wanted the game to look different.

    I agree with that.

But I think that has to do with the fact that fans prefer sensational passing games over sensational running. Also, there are a lot more QBs who can do what Brady did than there are RBs who can do what Sanders did.

McVay jokingly clarifying comments from last week on impending fatherhood: “I’m not going to miss a game. My son knows better than to come during a game.”

Sounds like something I woulda said. I’m very pleased.

Demanding ownership? If he keeps this sort of stuff up, the owners will get together and Kaepernick his ass.

    It’s not even a thing.

Imagine trying to trade a player who is part owner.

    How does that work?

    It doesn’t. That’s how.

I also want partial ownership of the team that drafts him.

I suspect that our chances of realizing our dreams are approximately the same.

Williams and Hoecht were good UDFA signings. But they’re misusing Hoecht. He’s not an edge. He’s a tall, but undersized DT. Lacking strength/weight is correctable. Lacking bend and twitchy athleticism pretty much never is.

That’s what my eyeballs tell me, too.

I dunno. I’m no tape-watcher, or talent scout. But the guy is a football player without a position. Maybe if he had come up on the other side, as a TE….

Exactly. I didn’t expect anything from any of those names you listed in bold in the OP. I expected that some would come through, and some wouldn’t, and we would have a lumpy stew of promise and disappointment.

But right across that list, the performance floor has been pretty high, exceeding expectations.

Witherspoon, Young, Turner, Dotson, Williams, and Nacua have exceeded my expectations by a LOT. And Evans seems to have a rocket launcher with GPS. And as wv pointed out, the Rams’ competition has not been dross. AZ is the only team they’ve played that has a losing record.

They are ahead of schedule, and this makes this season far more interesting and entertaining than any of the usual rebuilding years we’ve suffered. I don’t recall a recent season without realistic hope of a SB appearance that had more appeal than this season does. Gotta go back to 99.

I’m just appalled. What’s happening. People’s reaction to it. The media coverage. It’s appalling.

Yeah, it’s Zach Evans, I would think.

I would think knowing the blocking schemes would be the most important thing. I’m sure any RB can take a handoff and run in the right direction whether they’re effective, or not. But protecting Stafford is probably the most crucial responsibility, and who knows if Evans is any good at that. Blocking is often the deficiency in rookie RBs that keep them out of the starting lineup. Even Jackson had some issues early in his career.

I don’t know if the blocking has changed significantly with the new OL approach. I don’t know anything about blocking schemes. If they’ve changed, maybe Michel would have problems.

Regardless, gotta hope Williams misses only a week, but this may be a high ankle thing. Low ankle sprains usually don’t keep people out, seems like.

Welp, saw quite a bit of the Dallas/SD game tonight, and I must say…those are two pretty mediocre football teams, if this was representative.

I’d see if the Vikings would make a deal for Cam Akers.

That guy is very close to 100 yards on the season already.

    well that blows.

He had a gun in his car.

The marijuana is irrelevant, since it’s legal in California.

Concealed gun. Unless Kendrick has a dark past we are unaware of, the felony charge isn’t likely to stick, and maybe none of it will.

What Are the Penalties for Carrying a Concealed Weapon in California?

Carrying a handgun openly and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit are both illegal in the state of California. A conviction on either charge can result in heavy penalties. The potential consequences for both charges are generally the same and include:

    Misdemeanor Charges

A violation of California Penal Code Section 25400 can be charged as either a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on several factors. If a violation is charged as a misdemeanor, some of the potential consequences include:

    • Up to one year in jail
    • Up to $1,000 in fines
    • Summary probation

The judge will consider the following before deciding your penalty:

    • Any acts of violence you have committed in the past
    • Your criminal history
    • Evidence that you planned to use the gun
    • Your failure to cooperate with law enforcement

    Felony Charges

If your violation of PC 25400 is processed as a felony, the potential consequences can greatly increase. A felony conviction could mean:

    • Up to three years in prison
    • Up to $10,000 in fines
    • Formal probation

The following circumstances might make your concealed weapon charge a felony:

    • Previous convictions of a firearm offense or felony in the state
    • Knowingly carrying a stolen firearm
    • Being involved in a gang
    • Illegally possessing the firearm
    • Being banned from carrying a firearm due to a restraining order or previous conviction
    • A previous misdemeanor conviction against people or property
    • A previous drugs or narcotics conviction

I always said that while Woods didn’t really have the build of an RB, he ran after the catch like an RB and not like a WR–he had the vision and stop n go instincts of a true RB. Not very many WRs have that, to be honest, or at least not to the extent that Woods did.

Woods also had a knack for being open when the Rams most needed a play. He was my favorite player while he was with the Rams. He is certainly not going to the HOF, but he was a gamer, and I am sorry he could not play in the Super Bowl.

On Goff. I agree it was a bad marriage, and I am not the least bit surprised to see him faring well in Detroit.

I still think it was the right move because the Rams were ready to win immediately, and Stafford was ready to win immediately, and Goff wasn’t.

Whatever. He has 2 or 3 years left in the league, tops. He will be signing for the Vet Min at the end of the season, if at all. He was never more than a backup.

    No offense. Ya know.

Am I the only one who thought the PI call against Kendrick in the EZ at the end of the first half was bogus? I haven’t rewatched it. I only saw what was shown during the original broadcast, but it looked like to me the the receiver initiated the contact and then fell down.

I agree. Thought so at the time. It looked more like offensive pass interference, or a no-call. As in, I thought it was bogus too.

Yeah, I only saw the play live, and the replays they showed live, but it appeared to me that the WR initiated contact, and that a play like that is usually a non-call, but…there ya go. In every game, there are blown calls (usually non-calls, like holding), and sometimes they matter.

It was strange the way this game paralleled the SF game, and I’ve seen others say the same thing. Take away those 7 points at the end of the 1st half in each of those games, and the 2nd half is a different ballgame. The Rams folded twice against the two best teams in the NFC in that situation, but that’s how close they are. A play here or there.

I’m still happier than I expected to be at this point. The Rams are definitely ahead of schedule in returning to competitiveness (aided by the best draft in years), and their growth may continue upward significantly through this season, as long as everyone stays healthy. So many young guys getting their first real experience in the NFL. I think the Rams have to be a contender for that one team that nobody really wants to draw in the playoffs, everyone hoping they don’t get in.

I haven’t had a chance to look at the game box score, stats, etc., but the Rams allowed long drives all day long. Philly made very few unforced errors. The Rams had no answer for their TE, seemed like. And Philly just ground them down. Philly is better.

But…hey…we’ve talked about Nacua, Turner, Young, Avila…how about that Ethan Evans? Good lord. That man can punt. What a job he did yesterday.
