Well….they need to trade away the 1st round pick.   Just on principle.

    Fine by me.

Last time they had a 1st round pick, they wasted it on Jared Goff, who’s not even on the Rams anymore. Languishing away in Detroit, or some other backwater NFL town, last I knew.

mong rams olinemen or all olinemen?

That’s the highest score of any offensive lineman. Only Penei Sewell (OT) Lions has the same score: 88.9.

Every other OL in the league has a lower rating than the two of them.

Rams lead the all-time series 13-11-0.

The Rams have won 5 of the last 6 meetings with their last loss to the Browns in 2007.

They played each other 3 times for the NFL Championship. The Browns won twice.

    That’s my sideline report.

    Deacon Jones – 173.5

    Kevin Greene – 160

    Jack Youngblood – 151.5

    Coy Bacon – 130

    Kevin Carter – 104.5

    Fred Dryer – 103

    Merlin Olsen – 94

    Leonard Little – 87.5

    Robert Quinn – 80.5

    Larry Brooks – 74.5

    Aaron Donald – 72

    Chris Long – 70

    Here’s the thing about that.

Youngblood, Dryer, Olsen, and Brooks played on the same line. As most people here know.

Yeah, this could just be an ugly, low-scoring game.

Maybe the defense will score. Have they scored this year? I don’t think so.

Whatever. I think this is going to be hard to watch.

I dunno, either. I know some coaches have placed a big emphasis on stripping the ball etc., but I’m not sure that accounts for it. Sometimes I wonder if TOs are just fluky like the weather. Sometimes they go your way; sometimes they don’t.

But I would think that pressure on the QB would increase INTs because the timing gets thrown off. I’d be very surprised if there isn’t a strong statistical correlation between QB pressures and INTs.

I generally pay no attention to mock drafts, especially since the Rams haven’t had a 1st round pick since the Jeff Fisher era, but I peeked at one yesterday, and they had the Rams taking an OT because “their tackles have been terrible this year.” Which is news to me.

The Rams will add to both lines. Which line is “priority #1” will depend on who is available, I would think, not which need is “greater.” They get the best players they can.

And so far, McSnead has been better at that than anybody since whoever built the Rams in the early 70s, imo.

But this year, he has won me over.  He has done a lot with what he’s had to work with.

Yeah, I was expecting a bit of a shit show defensively.

The rookies have produced, Witherspoon grew from “also-ran” into a top flight corner, and the defense has done a good job.

They aren’t getting enough TOs. They are dead last in fumble recoveries in the league, second-to-last in INTs, and last in the league in TOs overall.

    They are 22nd in sacks.

In spite of that, they are 15th in points allowed.

So…they need more pressure. More pressure = more sacks, more TOs, more 3-and-outs, and fewer points. Nothing new in that formula, of course, but my point is that in spite of a lack of pressure and TOs, the defense is holding up pretty well. Get some maturity out of Young, and add someone for the other side, and the Rams are in business. I know they’ve had their eye on Burns for a couple of years.

They did so well this year with the draft and cheap additions (Witherspoon, Dotson) who played above their track record, that the Rams’ rebuild is in really good shape.

According to PFF, OL Kevin Dotson is currently tied for the top-graded offensive lineman (88.9)

And they got him for nothing.

    Hopefully, he will re-sign.

i’m convinced that with him, stafford, higbee, coop, nacua, atwell, and a blue chip offensive tackle this could be a top notch offense.

Me, too, although so far the Kupp/Nacua pairing has not produced anything special.

Sample size: small. Plus injuries in places. So we are far from losing hope.

I think many Rams fans are underestimating how tough the Browns are. Great defense, really physical offensive and defensive lines, and the Rams usually don’t play well against physical teams (see the last 8 or 9 games against SF). I don’t care who their starting QB is – beating them will be a tall task.

It’s the Browns. The Cleveland Browns.

It’s not that they aren’t capable of beating the Rams. It’s just that they aren’t capable of it.

Welp, saw quite a bit of the Dallas/SD game tonight, and I must say…those are two pretty mediocre football teams, if this was representative.

That post didn’t age particularly well.

Playoff hopes are over if they lose to the Browns. It’s a long shot anyway, as the Rams have to win at least 4 of their 6 remaining games.

We can chalk up 2 losses before kickoff: BAL and SF.

That leaves them no margin. Cleveland and NO are going to be struggles.

If you had told me before the game that Kupp would finish with 18 yards/0 TDs, and Nacua with 27 yards/0 TDs, I would not have expected a game dominated by the Rams which was basically over by halftime.

It wasn’t a pretty game, but this may have been an important game in the Rams’ development.

It’s only the Cardinals, but the Rams just thumped an NFL team the old fashioned way, with rushing and TEs. That bodes well. When Stafford, Kupp, and Nacua figure out how to co-exist, this offense will again be near the top of the league.

And Kyren Williams looks like the Rams’ next star.

Props to Atwell for a couple of nice grabs.

And the Browns game is winnable, imo. And they may need that game to make up for the Steelers game. DeShaun Watson and Nick Chubb are out. Amari Cooper and Myles Garrett are questionable.

The Rams need to win 4 of the remaining 6 games to have a shot at a wildcard date. With the Ravens and 9ers both on the schedule, the rest of the games are kinda “must win,” though I think the Steelers and Packers probably cost the Rams that extra week of football.

His planned veteran rest days — which were installed well before Donald even hit his prime years — originated from an effort by coaches to get offensive linemen productive practice work without worrying about him on every play.

This was my favorite bit from that excellent piece that was a joy to read.

Derion Kendrick was the 212th pick in the 2022 draft (6th round). His numbers from yesterday are pretty staggering as a 2nd year guy. Per @PFF: targeted 8 times, allowed 3 receptions for 21 yards. Had the game-winning INT and allowed a 6.3 passer rating. Did he earn a second chance in your eyes? Durant was out and DK had a ton of responsibility with Seattle’s WR corps

I don’t know what to make of Kendrick. I think it would be great if he would eliminate bonehead penalties, though. I thought the roughing call against him yesterday was a bad call, but not terrible. It was borderline, but I thought it was “necessary.” The guy wasn’t going down, and DK had to increase his leverage and force.

Taunting after the INT, though. That was inexcusable, and the guy just seems to have a knack for getting flagged.

But he’s also fairly effective, seems to me. I don’t have his rankings in front of me, so I dunno. But it seems to me that his mistakes have come at bad times, so that magnifies it when he gets beaten. I think if he would just knock off the penalties, he would seem worthy of being a starter.

My son told me that Kupp had two drops all of last season. He had two in the GB game (I think it was GB), and we’ve seen him make that catch that would’ve been a TD yesterday. That was not an easy catch, but I’ve been trained to expect Kupp to make that every time.

He’s off. Higbee is off. And Stafford is off.

I know why, but I’m not telling you guys. Not for free anyway. Hit the Subscribe button, and I’ll reveal the answer.

Not sure the Rams win that game if Aaron Donald doesnt knock out the starting QB for that critical stretch. Wont show up as a sack or anything other than a hit, but that was probly a game-saver. w v

Rams Brothers@RamsBrothers Brycen Hopkins, Davis Allen and Hunter Long can surely drop passes and miss in-line blocks, too. Why not let them get the reps at this point?

That was not a good game. The Rams won, but I still think the Rams are less impressive now than they were before Kupp returned. It’s weirdish – I know not.

All I know is that we won’t see Nittany here this week. Probably stung him quite a lot.

    She chose the wrong words.

You know…the thing is…even if the sideline reporters didn’t make up the shit the coaches “said,” then all that means is that the coaches made up the shit that the coaches said.

Lost in the media coverage of this is the fact that sideline reporters don’t actually ever say anything of value anyway, apart from injury reports – which nobody needs a sideline reporter for.

Sideline reporters aren’t reporters. They’re showbiz, and the big sin committed here is openly acknowledging that sideline reporters are useless.

“The grass is already being grown,” says COO Kevin Demoff of the natural grass playing fields the Rams will install at the new/temporary facilities. Hope is to get transitioned by offseason programming but team won’t hold training camp here in the short term.

would it be that much harder or more expensive to just have grass fields in sofi stadium?

I’ve been wondering that from the start. It CAN be done. the question really is “Is it cost effective?” The intention is to use sofi for all kinds of events, including concerts and probably monster truck thingies etc. Stuff that lawns won’t be compatible with. So the grass would have to be interchangeable with other “flooring,” and where are you going to put a football field when it’s not in the stadium?
