the good news is brown and hendo had solid games against the hags the last time around, combined for 4.7 yards per carry and 3 tds, in fact they accounted for 75% of the rb snaps that day…. funny thing tho, seahawks fans and talking heads are saying the same about the hags, that their best chance at beating the rams is having a solid day on the ground given the rams success against wilson, and they’re hoping they can with carson, hyde and penny back in the mix, guys who didn’t play against the rams.

#Seahawks DT Damon “Snacks” Harrison asked for his release after learning he’d be inactive today against the #Rams, and the team plans to grant it next week, per sources. Seattle loves Snacks and hopes he has a change of heart, but seems his mind is made up. He’d go on waivers.Doug Farrar@NFL_DougFarrar
Went back and watched DK Metcalf’s targets against the Rams in Week 10, and if Russ had been a bit more on point with this throws… different story. Metcalf had Ramsey beat on a deep backside boundary throw, but overthrown. Low ball on an intermediate crosser. We’ll see…Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
I don’t feel overly confident, but I like the Rams to win today. Seahawks haven’t impressed me lately and the Rams are excellent at avoiding back-to-back losses.==

that might have been #49ers DC Robert Saleh’s finest performance this season. Given what he was missing, who was on other side, to hold Arizona to 12 points was impressive. Should already be on the list for team’s in need of a head coach but added to the resume today.Geoff Schwartz@geoffschwartz
49ers defense played outstanding today. They got guys off the street rushing the passer like seasoned vets. Pressure packages confused Murray all game. Great work today.Ryan Clark@Realrclark25
I love the way Robert Saleh has changed the way the 49ers play defense this year. They have lost so much of that 4 man pass rush to injury. They’ve created pressure by bringing DB’s, backers and playing different zone blitzes behind it. That man can coach football.
znModeratori don’t think goff was very good last week against the jets. but i would also say that about the whole team
He struggled in the first half, but then that was with an OL that was not doing its job. In the 2nd half he worked through it and played well overall, or they would never have been close in the first place. In the 2nd half, he was 10 of 14 (71.4%) for 8.36 per attempt, with 2 TDs, and a qb rating of 136.1.
People complain about the final 2 plays but I thought those were classic McVay bad calls. 😎
IMO, he played well enough to win in the 2nd half.

znModeratori think when defenses are able to shut down the play action goff does tend to struggle.
but i also agree with you. i think this whole offense struggles. the oline. mcvay. it’s not just goff. the problem is then these get compounded by turnovers on top of that.
goff’s rating with play action. 102.0.
without play action. 87.9.
That is not what happened in the 2 games I listed. IMO the “without play action” stat gets tilted by the losing games where they are throwing to come from behind. The Tampa and Arizona games–my 2 recent examples–were not about play action.
Jets game is a perfect example of Goff struggling under bad circumstances but pushing through. Passing was their only chance to win in that game. OL struggled, the defense kept letting them back into the game and couldn’t shut them down as per reputation (top 3 defense v. 32nd ranked offense?) But Goff produced enough for a win in the 2nd half if the defense hadn’t just mailed it in.
The idea that they can’t just throw it without play action? IMO that’s hyperbole and belies things we’ve seen.

znModeratorWhen they fall behind and they have to drop-back throw, when they have to spread it out and he’s got to drop back and read the defense and pick a team apart, that is where this team and that is where Jared Goff struggles.”
He hasn’t been watching the games. That’s the only explanation I have for a comment like that.
Examples. They couldn’t run against Tampa or Arizona and they won because Goff threw 51 times in one game and 47 in the other. His qb rating was 99.8 in one game and 104.9 in the other. His third down conversion percentage in both games combined was 57%, which across the whole season so far would be first in the league. Tampa is 7th on defense and Arizona while not great is 13th, which just is not that bad.
Like, did Kurt just watch the Jets game and then act like the only issue in that game was the qb? And then leap to conclusions about the entire season?
People are saying some seriously fact-lite things in qb discussion these days. Kurt’s comments quoted there included.

znModeratorMe: O’Connell gives great insight into how Rams passing game progressions work. Basically the optimal situation is to hit the primary receiver as quickly as possible. This is what I think leads to the myth you see out there that Goff doesn’t go through progressions.
That’s from this press conference here: http://theramshuddle.com/topic/mcvay-oconnell-donald-12-24-transcripts/
Here’s O’Connell:
then at the top of your drop, being set to eliminate any wasted movement and wasted time, so that if No. 1 is there, we pull the trigger and we want to be aggressive to No. 1, because we expect those guys to win when they get their ops.
