    .. Rams lost to Cards(11-6), Titans(12-5), SF (10-7)twice, and GB (13-4). The Rams are better in the trenches.

    ========

    I do like the fact that the Bengals are not known as a bully team, like, say

    the 49ers or Titans.   We know how ‘those’ kinds of teams look against the Rams.

    But if the Bengals aren’t a physical-bully-team, what ‘are’ they exactly?

    To beat the Raiders, Titans, and Chiefs, they gotta be ‘somethin.’

    They took the Packers to overtime.  Lost 25-22.  Beat the Ravens 41-17.

    Beat the Steelers 41-10.   Lost to the 49ers in overtime. 26-23.  Beat the Chiefs

    twice.

    They are battle-tested.

    Looking at both teams players/coaches…the Rams sure look like

    they have a slight edge.   The Bengals do not have an Aaron Donald, and they don’t have a Jalen Ramsey.   I would also favor Stafford slightly, over Burrow,  because of the experience difference.

    Having said that, the Bengals remind me a bit of Joe Willie’s 68 Jets.

    Bengals 27

    Rams 24

    In overtime.

    “…
    The Rams are already in one of the worst financial positions for the 2022 cap, projected at this point to be well over it, but that will surely change based on a set of moves that have likely already been planned out by Les Snead and the front office. Parting with Andrew Whitworth, extending Matthew Stafford, restructuring Aaron Donald, these are all likely transactions that could technically make Miller affordable to the Rams.

    Miller referred to himself as a “Coloradoan” for life and though there were some strange rumors about Miller leaving Denver on bad terms, the potential behind-the-scenes conversations that are already happening around Aaron Rodgers and the Broncos could be the remedy for the future Hall of Fame pass rusher. The Broncos hired former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to be the head coach and former Green Bay tight ends coach Justin Outten as the offensive coordinator, though Hackett will call plays….
    …Meanwhile, the rumored next defensive coordinator in Denver is Ejiro Evero, who is currently serving as the secondary coach for… the LA Rams. Evero worked with Vic Fangio with the San Francisco 49ers, a few years before Fangio became Von Miller’s head coach with the Broncos.”

    .. But, unless they know they can upgrade their O-line from outside the team, they better work hard to bring back Allen, Corbett, and Noteboom. Still draft for those spots.

    My own wild-speculation would be this — Whitworth is gonna retire,

    but what if…he turns out to be a Weddle?    Just come back

    for the playoffs.    It would save him all that wear and tear, and

    yet, he could probly still play at a high level……  🙂

    Interesting, the salaries really drop off after Tyler Higbee’s 8 million.

    The Nick Scott pulverization of Deebo will go down as one of the greatest Ram-hits of all time.   No exaggeration.

    Right up there with the hit on Jeff George.

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue From a conversation with Rams GM Les Snead this morning, on how a team culture can become a living organism: “It doesn’t matter what signs you have on the wall. Places that have cultures that are substandard, not there yet or a little dysfunctional, a little off-kilter, they probably have inspirational long-living stoic-like quotes that we’d all base our life on. But culture is a living thing. And this one is alive, and well. You come here – it’s probably pretty simple: You’d better love football, because that’s what we’re gonna do here. We’re gonna do football. We’re not here to micro-manage (you)…You better love football, you better want to get better at football, you better want to evolve at football, you better want to go from 101 to 102, 103, 104, 105 every day. And every day, who cares (about) social media – you’ve got a life – but come in this building, football. If you don’t love it, or don’t really have the conscientiousness to go, ‘I’m gonna get out of the entry-level class to the next level’…I don’t know if people who can’t (do it) stick out (so much as) they’re gonna *melt*.”

    Stafford is only two years younger than McVay.   Dont believe I’ve ever

    heard a player say he and the coach push ‘each other to be better’.

    Usually its just the coach who gets to do the pushing.

    One of the most important catches/moments in Ram history.

    Playoffs only:

    Ya got the Waddy catch.   The Isaiah Robertson INT.

    The Proehl Catch.   The Ike catch.  The Tackle.

    And now the Stafford pass (to Kupp).

    Thats about it, I think.

    stats:https://sportsnaut.com/nfl-defense-rankings/

    “However, there is important context. If Cincinnati blitzes Stafford, chances are it backfires. He led the NFL in quarterback rating (131.8) when blitzed, posting an incredible 13-1 TD-INT ratio and completing 74.4% of his attempts. The Bengals aren’t a blitz-heavy defense, posting the seventh-lowest blitz rate (20.5%), this season…”

    ==

    “..Donald’s 26% pass rush win rate led the league in 2021 and allowed him to finish with 86 pressures and 15 sacks. Facing him, an offensive line that ranked 30th in pass block win rate (49%)…”

    ==

    “..Even if Jalen Ramsey shadows Ja’Marr Chase, which is unlikely considering how the Rams deployed their All-Pro corner this season, the Bengals can exploit other mismatches. At 5-foot-9, cornerback Darious Williams (179 receiving yards allowed in playoffs) will be on the losing end of a battle vs 6-foot-4 Tee Higgins. In the slot, Tyler Boyd can take advantage of nickel David Long Jr. (92.7 QB rating allowed when targeted)…”

    Obviously, there are much, much bigger issues to deal with than a NFL team name . . . but I would think Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale and The Testaments, plus the Hulu series, would have soured them on the one they chose. I can’t help but see the word in a different light because of those works. And, given the Washington’s recent range of issues about its team culture? Oh, well. The change was necessary. But they could have done better.

    ========

    Given the low-lifes that own and run that team, i suppose it could have been worse.

    Things would change.

    With Brady out of football, playing golf, and probably running as Trump’s next

    VP, and Aaron Rogers probably alienating a new fan-base in the AFC,

    is Stafford gonna be the best QB in the NFC?

    Stafford better than Kyler?  Russell Wilson?  Trey Lance?

    I’d be surprised.  As Cooper Kupp pointed out he’s a competitive psycho.

    No way he’d walk away with only one ring, when he’s got

    a great core of prime talent in LA.

    I had major anxiety all week. I wanted another shot at those Hineys. For a while there, I was thinking, “What the fuck was I thinking?” Then after the second Kupp TD I knew we had it in the bag. The Niners couldn’t run the ball and left it in Jimmy G’s hands. A nightmare scenario for them and he came through. For us. I’m proud of this team. Go Rams.

    =========

    I wanted them to get another shot at the Beasts as well.

    Reminded me a bit of the 99 scenario where the GSOT

    had to play the Sapp/Lynch Bucs.

    Back in the early 70’s ‘every’ F’ing game was a ‘body-bag game.’

    …these kids today and their NFL-flag-football…
