wvParticipantJust listened to a snippet of the Forbes interview at the Rams press conf. (He spoke a bit after McVay and Stafford) What a fucking breath of fresh air THAT kid is. Very team oriented.

wvParticipantIs this the best Ram Red Zone offense we’ve seen in the last ten years? Seems that way to me.
Rams had 401 yards, SF had 393.
I would not have predicted the Rams DLine would get zero sacks.
Stafford had time to throw. No-one is gonna beat the Rams like that.
Remember the last time the Rams scored 42 against SF? Oct 10, 1999.
Great win. I would have preferred it if they had tacked on a TD and a 2 point conversion at the end.

wvParticipantSaw Babylon this week on dvd. Brad Pitt. Its by the director that did LaLa Land and Whiplash.
I’d never even heard of it. I guess it bombed at the box-office.
I thought it was a ‘borderline’ masterpiece. There’s a twenty minute stretch in the last third of the movie that kinda drags or doesnt fit or somethin. But the rest of the movie was damn good, i thought.
wvParticipantMan, Roman was throwing out of his own endzone in that vid. Definitely not a George Allen team.
Rams were 5-9 that season.w

wvParticipantI’ve continued thinking about this question, and when I post the question to myself if there was ever a 49er that I actually liked, I came up with Steve young. He was signed by the LA Express of the usfl when I was living in Los angeles, and I got season tickets to the games for $99 for the season. So I always liked Steve young.
Montana and Young vs Warner and Stafford.
I hate to say it, but probly gotta give the edge to SF on that one.
There have been times i thought Young was the best ever. But then Mahommes came along.

wvParticipantI went to San Francisco yesterday, and just got back. The flagship station of the 49ers absolutely thinks the 49ers are going to get rolled by the Rams. No question in their minds.
Who is your alltime favorite 49er?
Seriously, do you have one?
I actually liked Brodie. Partly cause he was on so many losing teams. He was never a part of the 49er glory years.

Sean McVay said Harrison Mevis will be the team’s kicker this week and Jake McQuaide will be the long snapper.Been watching the Rams since the mid-Cretaceous era, and dont remember any Ram coach replacing both the kicker and long-snapper in a move like this.
Now watch it get worse.

wvParticipantI looked up Chase Blackburn on wiki. He’s not exactly the most experienced coach in the NFL.
If they dont get things fixed, i would guess McVay will not bring him back.

Coaching career
Carolina PanthersDuring the off season before the 2016 season, Blackburn was brought in as a special teams coaching intern.[10] On August 14, 2016, Blackburn was promoted to the special teams assistant to special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey.[11]
After the firing of former head coach, Ron Rivera, Blackburn was retained by the Panthers’ new head coach, Matt Rhule. After the 2021 regular season ended, Rhule fired Blackburn from his coaching staff in January 2022.[12]
Tennessee Titans
In March 2022, the Tennessee Titans announced the hiring of Blackburn as an assistant special teams coach.[13]
Los Angeles RamsOn February 21, 2023, Blackburn was hired as a special teams coordinator by the Los Angeles Rams.[14]

wvParticipantOn Jake. The Wiki ‘narrative’ is that he beat out Massey. But we all know Massey ascended into The Halls of Valhalla.
Wiki “…St. Louis / Los Angeles Rams
McQuaide was signed as an undrafted free agent by the St. Louis Rams after the 2011 NFL draft on July 29. As a rookie, he beat Chris Massey for the long snapper job.[3]…”Just since 2022, Jake has played for,
Dallas,
Detroit,
Chicago,
Minnesota,
Miami,
Pittsburgh,
and now with the Rams again.

wvParticipantNFC and AFC are totally wide open this year. Rams have a legit shot at a Ring. But so do about ten other teams. Gonna be interesting.

wvParticipantJust a discussion on sports/politics, fwiw.
wvParticipantThat was good (except for the NY-snobbiness). And its how i remembered it too. Vince did indeed suck for most of the regular season in 1979. But, in the playoffs he was great and clutch against Staubach and the Cowboys.
“everyone knows the Rams do not beat the Cowboys”
And yeah, Warren Beatty’s Heaven Can Wait was on everyone’s mind at the time.

wvParticipantit’s the worst kicking game i’ve ever seen?
How many have they had blocked now? Two, three, four?
Karty is ranked 37, btw. 67 percent.
He’s 35th in extra point percentage. 88 percent. Missed 3.49ers kicker is 19 for 19, btw.

Report: Tests revealed what Kyle Shanahan was worried about on SundayAnother one bites the dust, as Mykel Williams will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL
Kyle PoseyAfter the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 9 win over the New York Giants, head coach Kyle Shanahan said, “We’re worried it’s an ACL” when referring to first-round pick Mykel Williams’ injury.
Williams was well on his way to playing a season-high in snaps against the Giants. Even after injury, he ended up playing 50 percent of the snaps. On the season, Williams played 66 percent of the snaps for the defense.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler confirmed that testing revealed Mykel Williams indeed tore his ACL, as the team feared. The 49ers have already been decimated by injury, specifically the defensive line. It would be easier to list the players who haven’t suffered an injury or been listed on the injury list than vice versa.
Now, as the team was hopeful Bryce Huff could return after missing two games with a hamstring injury, they’ll need to replace one of their most reliable defenders.
Against the Giants, Sam Okayinonu played the most snaps of any defensive lineman. Of the 57, Sam O played 41, Alfred Collins 33, Keion White 33, and Mykel was next at 29. The team has gone out of its way to avoid playing Robert Beal, who played 13 snaps. The other option on the edge is the newly signed Clelin Ferrell, who played 18 snaps against the Giants.
The 49ers’ hand might be forced when it comes to acquiring defensive linemen before the trade deadline.

wvParticipantI’ve been reading lately that the 2026 QB class does not have top-tier talent.
What do the Rams do about their QB situation next year?
Do they just keep signing Stafford to one year deals, and hope for the best?

wvParticipantRams have not had any elite Tight Ends in their modern history. One wonders whether Tyler Higbee would be considered the ‘best’ alltime Ram tight end? He leads in catches, fwiw.
Catches
Higbee 374
Lance Kendricks 204
Billy Truax 180
Ernie Cromwell 146
Jared Cook 142
wvParticipantBeating a one-win team that’s using a rookie backup-level QB, at home….is a good thing. Good work.
Rams had no turnovers.
…i do wonder about the non-call though.
wvParticipantJust somethin that interested me. Changes in Vietnam government. Might wanna give it two-minute listen, or so.
wvParticipantI’d be disappointed if Havenstein was back next year. He’s been so solid for so long, but one would hope at this point the Rams would have a solid young replacement.
w
v
wvParticipantIs it possible Stafford kinda gets too zoned-in on his favorite WR? Like Kupp. Or Puka.
This has nothing to do with the point Adams is making. I get that they didnt have their timing down because of the lack of practice.
Still, i wonder if Stafford would have spread the ball between Holt and Ike as well as Kurt did.
Maybe some QBs are just more mono-receiverus.

wvParticipant=============================
Tyler Shough (‘shuck’)
Scouting Report: Summary
The tape shows a quarterback who thrives in structured passing attacks featuring heavy play-action usage. When Shough can plant that back foot and drive through his throws off play-action, he generates impressive velocity to all levels of the field. That play-action prowess combined with his ability to layer passes between zones makes him an ideal fit in systems like San Francisco or Los Angeles that emphasize rhythmic timing throws and vertical shots off run action. His Senior Bowl performance reinforced what shows up on Louisville film – this is a physically gifted passer who can make every throw in the playbook when his mechanics are right. The arm talent pops whether he’s driving comebacks from the opposite hash or dropping deep balls in the bucket. While the age and medical history are legitimate concerns, several games from 2024 (Miami, Clemson, Virginia) showcase a QB ready to compete for a starting role sooner rather than later. The flashes of brilliance throwing on the move and improvising outside structure hint at a higher ceiling than his current draft buzz suggests.
After studying his full body of work, I’m convinced Shough will outperform his eventual draft position. The combination of size, arm strength, and experience in multiple pro-style concepts provides immediate NFL backup value with clear starter upside. He needs an established offensive system that can refine his mechanics and help him process faster under pressure. But in the right situation with proper development time, Shough has the tools to develop into a quality NFL starter by year two. The tape shows a more talented player than his current Day 2/3 projection indicates.
