I do my best to do 105 push ups per day and walk 2 miles.

    ————

    105 ? Wny 105 ?

Thats a lot, btw. How many can you do in a row?

I used to be a big ‘pull up’ guy. I liked pull ups. But now, at my age, its tough to get my elbow joints to go along with pullups. But I’m still gonna try and see if i can get my body to go along with them.

I rewatched a dvd of ‘Pumping Iron’ with Arnold and Ferrigno a while back. On the special features they kinda hinted that a lot of the drama was kinda ‘created’ just to add some pizzazz to the film.

First John Oliver attacks Jill, and now Taibbi falls in love with Obama’s charisma. Gag me.

You can’t separate Obama the person from Obama the tepid center-right empty politico?

I think he would have made a great university president. When he spoke up as a moral spokesman on certain issues I thought he was tremendous.

His policies, such as they are, were Clintonista sameole sameole.

I’ve started cycling over the past 5 years. I used to run regularly, but my calves no longer handle it well at all. I still run occasionally, but during the summer I usually ride 5-6 days per week. I lift light weights a couple times per week as well. In the winter I x-country ski. I have a fat (tire) bike now, so I plan to ride that this winter as well as ski.

MWF and sometimes Sat for me with free weights. Much more dumbbells these days for this dumbbell. I try to walk an hour a day every day when I’m not sick. Can hike an 8 mile day but only with a very light pack due to very unforgiving knees. Just trying to maintain a level of strength to do what I want. I’m 55 and know exactly what you both mean, definitely been there. I’ve messed with free weights most of my life but have to admit the T injections make a big difference in getting the gumption to work out.

    —————–
Yeah, i can relate to all that.

My knees are starting to do strange things. They have a mind of their own now.

Damn. This is an old-man thread isnt it. Now we are all gonna complain about our aches and pains 🙂

Once i was in a living-room full of old people. Relatives. Aunts, uncles that sort of thing. And they were all droning on endlessly about their ailments. None of them were listening — just droning on and on about their ailments.

And i swore I would never ever do that.

…and now let me tell you all about my knees… 🙂

Well, i still maintain the MSM is a more sinister problem than the ‘fake news’ problem. Both are problems, but which one will the MSM NEVER talk about and which one will they try to solve ?

    ——————
“Freedom of the press belongs to those who own one.”
    ― A.J. Liebling

The American press exists for one purpose only, and that is to convince Americans that they are living in the greatest and most envied country in the history of the world. The Press tells the American people how awful every other country is and how wonderful the United States is and how evil communism is and how happy they should be to have freedom to buy seven different sorts of detergent.”
    ― Gore Vidal

    ——-
    “We are intellectual prostitutes.”
    John Swinton, New York 1890.

John Swinton, the foremost journalist of his day, was asked to toast an independent press at a New York banquet given in his honour by other journalists. His response was clear and forthright:

“There is no such thing, at this stage of the world’s history in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dare write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Other of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my papers, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone.

“The business of the journalist is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press? We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men.

This is all going to be very interesting to watch how the U.S./Cuba relations turn now that Trump will be in charge. On one hand there is the possibility of him negotiating something that includes Trump Hotels in downtown Havana and maybe some casinos, if he sees some profit there but if he doesn’t get what he wants from them, or it looks like a loser financially, I would expect him to play it up for all it’s worth and slam them hard.

    Stay tuned.

    ——————-

Well, i just think its surreal that the US Government has tried to destroy Cuba for all these years, because they dont like the Cuban Government, and yet,
the US Government LOVES dictatorships like Saudi Arabia.

    I could go on, of course… 🙂

And yes, it will be interesting to see how the Donald handles
    Cuba, and other nations.

Will the Donald kill more brown people or less than Obama did?

“Let’s be honest here. Facebook and Twitter have no motivation to clean up their act: that they are paying out ad revenue to neo-Nazi propaganda is a consequence of the fact that that crap is popular. Rejecting bullying or fascism does not make them money, while providing an outlet for them does.
And now I’m torn. I feel like I should shut down my facebook account, but a) I use it for the good stuff it provides as a social medium to keep in touch with my scattered family, and b) if all the liberals leave, it will become an even worse playground for trolls and scum. What are you all going to do?”

Well what would “cleaning up their act” even look like? I mean the whole “fake news” thing is tricky. The MSM has been spewing out corporate-propaganda since day one. So why shouldnt we call the NY Times and the Washington Times the “fake news papers of record”

I know Belicheat does two things he cheats, he is the best at in game decisions and strategy, and he cheats.

He does two other things, he cheats, his teams make fewer mistakes, and he cheats.

    —————-
Well i think a lot of Coaches over the decades have Cheated.
Belichex is BETTER at cheating than a lot of other cheating-coaches,
    i think. Plus Brady is a good-cheater.

Plus Brady and Belichex are smarter than everyone else. Which makes them the best cheaters.

I suppose this could lead to some sort of voting reform though, like, oh I dunno…retinal scans at the voting precincts?

    Integrated chips under the skin.
But then the religious right would never go for that.
Number of the beast and all.

    —————–
Just seems like we are all screwed, because the election biz, is run by Democrat-Politicans and Republican-Politicians. Those two groups make the decisions on what technology will be used and what rules will be in place etc.
And those two groups have a conflict of interest. They look at ways that will benefit ‘their team’ rather than what will be the best system.

Leastways thats how it seems to me. And i dated a woman once who was in charge of elections in a wv county. And i could tell you stories…

    w
    v

But if I haven’t seen the offense because of all the conditions I named, where or when have you seen it?

See I don’t think we’re really discussing the offense. I think we’re discussing what they had to put on the field because of a long list of various factors. And that;s not the offense…it’s what they have been forced to get by with in the meanwhile.

My bet is that when we actually see the offense, you;ll like it too.

    .

    ===================

Well, maybe. But i might like some OTHER coach’s offense even more,
    next year.

Fisher picked this OLine. Fisher picked this RB. Fisher picked these WRs and TE’s and Tavon. Fisher picked this O-Co-ordinator. Fisher picked Keenum. Everyone is Healthy.
And the offense is a disaster. Zero points vs the 49ers. How many TDs this whole year? How many yards rushing? Who looks good on offense? Britt, and thats it.

Fisher was picked in part because he could handle a big move. Well, they moved, and he is still putting out 7-9-BS.

I’m done. You are not. Pistols at dawn.

I am so utterly sick of this Fisher offense.

I’m not. My thing is not that the Fisher offense, in itself, isn’t good. My thing is, we actually haven’t SEEN the offense.

If it’s not one thing it’s another. Bradford gets hurt, Foles collapses, Keenum would have been fine with a running game but there is no running game this year, and Goff is just starting.

The times we actually HAVE seen the offense, I’ve liked it.

Aren’t you the guy that was showing me all this proof that Trump had no chance? What sources were those? How well vetted? Or were they merely propaganda? Why do you believe them now?

Illegals were made a major issue in the campaign. They do vote. They had more cause to vote than ever before. And they did vote 3 million strong.

    —————
No. I was trying to predict the future using polls. I relied on them. The polls were wrong.

That is completely different from making a claim about “3 million people voting illegally”. That statement is a statement about a purported fact that has happened. That is not a guess about the future.

Its the difference between making a guess or Prediction, about a future Ram game, as opposed to making a statement such as “The Rams only allowed 3 million points last game”. One is a breezy prediction of the future. And one is a putative fact-statement. The Latter requires PROOF.

So, if you are going to make a statement like that you need some kind of PROOF. Otherwise its just as i said — a rightwing baseless rumor.

You ducked the question. Where is your proof?

He’s got to create separation,” offensive coordinator Rob Boras said. “We’ve got to find a way to get it to him in space and let him use his ability for it – and at the same time not get it to him when everybody is expecting us to get it to him.”
“The way they’re playing me on defense, they’re taking me away,” Austin added.
    =========================

Well he’s not Larry Fitzgerald is he. As we’ve discussed sixteen gazillion times by now, he is not a pure no.1 WR. Or even a pure no.2 WR.

He’s a dangerous punt returner, and a weapon the defense has to account for,
but seems to ABLE to account for fairly easily.

    Hierarchy of Disappointments in 2016

1 Collapse of the Running game (Gurley / Oline)

2 Lack of big plays from Tavon

3 Defensive collapses in the clutch, and the redzone

4 Hekker has not thrown a TD pass all year

5 Rams still wear those awful blue pants from time to time.
