wvParticipantI’ve been reading around, trying to understand why Washington gave up on Forbes, a first round pick. I mean, they gave up on him pretty fast. Basically, it looks like the new Wash coach Dan Quinn didnt draft him and didnt think he fit the new system. Quinn also got rid of three other high picks from the previous regime.
—“ESPN writer Bill Barnwell listed the Commanders drafting cornerback Emmanuel Forbes with the No. 16 overall pick in last year’s NFL Draft as the team’s biggest mistake this decade.”
—“Former Commanders First Round Pick Breaks Silence After Shocking Release…For Forbes and the Commanders, the backlash began with questions about his size — 6-foot-1 and 166 pounds — and what might happen when he faced NFL competition.
The answers to that came quick and fast during his rookie season, which encompassed Forbes being benched several times and an embarrassing, Week 4 outing in which Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown torched Forbes for 9 receptions, 175 yards and 2 touchdowns…According to PFF, Forbes graded out at 50.9% for his rookie season. He was also the worst cornerback in the NFL against the run with a 28.9% grade..”

“..Curl, a team source said, was particularly vocal in his assessment of Forbes. Position coaches leaned on Curl’s analysis and endorsement when speaking with the pro scouting department about whether to make the claim. Curl also picked Forbes up en route to his first practice on Wednesday..”

Washington CommandersForbes was selected by the Washington Commanders in the first round (16th overall) of the 2023 NFL draft.[12] His slim weight is a common point of discussion, with him being the only cornerback drafted since 2000 to weigh under 170 pounds at the NFL Combine.[14][20][21] He signed a fully guaranteed four-year $15.4 million contract on July 22, 2023.[22][23]
Forbes recorded his first career interception in his second game, a 35–33 win over the Denver Broncos.[24] In the week 4 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles, he was criticized for his performance covering wide receiver A. J. Brown.[25] The following week, he was benched after multiple blown coverages against Chicago Bears wide receiver D. J. Moore.[26][27] In the first quarter of the week 10 game, Forbes was ejected after a helmet-to-helmet hit against Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett.[28] The NFL fined him for $15,563 for his week 10 ejection.[29]
Following the opening game of the 2024 season, Forbes underwent surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right thumb.[30] In the week 6 win over the Carolina Panthers, he recorded his second career interception against quarterback Andy Dalton.[31] Forbes was waived by the team on November 30, 2024.[32]
wvParticipant10.5 point favorites?? Without Higby and Havenstein? They beat the Packers and Cowboys.
The spread makes no sense to me. But i said that about Tampa too, so I must not know how good the Rams are.
The Rams havent been ten point favorites since 2017.

wvParticipantWV, I don’t think Fitzpatrick should get credit for his no-look pass on that vid, but those other no look passes were very cool….
I think Mahomes kind of made it a bit more common as he did it more frequently than Rodgers and Stafford, Kyler Murray also did it …….. no look passes have probably been around for years…
Mahomes, is like the Magic Johnson of the NFL… players in the NBA did no look passes prior to Magic, but he did it much more frequently… Also, today’s TV technology captures these passes much more than they did in the past…
Good stuff…
The Fitzpatrick one is hilarious.
I think the NBA might very well be where the no-look stuff started.
wvParticipantNFL sack record (Watt and Strahan) is 22.5.
Myles Garrett has 18. With six games left.
w
v
wvParticipantDid Kurt ever do no-look passes? I dont remember him doing that. I know Roman didnt. Everett didnt.
I wonder what the history of the ‘no-look pass’ is. How long has it been around? Who perfected it?
I keep waiting for it to back=fire with Stafford. I wonder if it ever has.

Week 12NFC West 28-17 62.2%
NFC South 18-27 40.0%
NFC North 26-17-1 60.2%
NFC East 18-26-1 41.1%When i started following the Rams in late 68, the ‘Coastal Division’ which was formed in 1967, was: Baltimore Colts, Rams, Falcons, 49ers.
In 1970 after the merger, it was renamed Western Division and re-aligned, and the Saints replaced the Colts.
In 1976 the Seahawks spent one year in the Western Division.
In 1995 the Rams moved to St.Louis but stayed in the division and the Carolina Panthers joined the Western Division.
In 2002, the West was changed again and the Panthers, Falcons and Saints left and the West became Rams, 49ers, Cards, Seahawks.
I think this year is probably the strongest the division has ever been, top to bottom. I remember two teams being really strong before, but not three.
There was a time, long ago, when Baltimore vs LA was a big rivalry. Unitas and the Colts were always Super Bowl contenders.
How many people remember the intensity of the New Orleans vs Rams rivalry that existed during the Haslett days?

…Los Angeles Rams vs Philadelphia Eagles Game Highlights | 2025 NFL Season Week 3
wvParticipantEagles got some bad news.
==================
Philadelphia Eagles rookie safety Andrew Mukuba suffered a fractured ankle late during the team’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, according to multiple reports. The injury is said to require surgery and it’s possible his season is over.
This development is really bad news. Mukuba, the Eagles’ second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has shown promise this season. They really needed him to stay healthy, especially with Reed Blankenship also getting banged up in Week 12.
The Eagles currently have one healthy safety on the active roster: Sydney Brown, who’s struggled when he’s had to play defense.
wvParticipant“I feel like we’ve definitely made a strong statement,” Verse said, “that we’re one of the best in the league. If not the best.”
I’d have preferred it, if Verse had said, ‘We havent proved anything yet. Nothing. Gotta Go To Work’

Matthew Stafford Has Only Had Seven 100-Yard Rushers In His Lions’ CareerDecember 6, 2017 / 3:36 PM EST / CBS Detroit
By: Evan Jankens
@kingofthekcBy now you are well aware that the Detroit Lions haven’t had a 100-yard rusher in 65 straight games.
That led me to do a little research to see how many 100-yard games Matthew Stafford has been a part of since joining the Lions in 2009.
Stafford has played in 124 career games and has only had a 100-yard rusher seven times. He is 6-1 in those games, according to Profootballreference.com.
The list:
9-27-09 Kevin Smith – 101 yards – WIN 19-14 over Washington
10-10-11 Jahvid Best – 163 yards – WIN 24-13 over Chicago
11-20-11 Kevin Smith – 140 yards – WIN 49-35 over Carolina
9-23-12 Mikel Leshoure – 100 yards – LOSS 44-41 to Tennessee
9-29-13 Reggie Bush – 139 yards – WIN 40-32 over Chicago
11-10-13 Reggie Bush – 105 yards – WIN 21-19 over Chicago
11-28-13 Reggie Bush – 117 yards – WIN 40-10 over Green BayWhat’s even more alarming is that not one of those games came on Jim Caldwell’s watch. Now that you have seen the stats, what do the Lions need to do to get that elusive 100-yard game?
wvParticipantDavante Adams leads NFL in TD receptions with 12.

Rams All-Time Passing TD leaders:1. Roman Gabriel: 154
2. Jim Everett: 142
3. Matthew Stafford/Marc Bulger: 12233 more and Matthew Stafford will be the Rams All-Time leader!!!
Games played:
Roman Gabriel: 130
Jim Everett: 107
Marc Bulger: 96
Matthew Stafford: 67————
Well, it was a hell-uva lot harder to throw TD’s back n Roman’s days. Defense dominated.
I’ve been thinking about that lately, because there are several NFL defenses this year that remind me of the olden days. Denver for one. Philly. But also Seattle and even the Rams to some extent.
I have no idea how these defenses can look so good, given the rules today. It makes me smile, though.
w
v
wvParticipantI was expecting the Rams to have a bit of a let-down after the Seattle game.
And sure enough, they came out flat and only won by 27.
You guys should listen to me more.
Panthers, Cards, Lions, Seahawks, up next. Carolina now tied with the Bucs at 6-5.

Josh Johnson.
wvParticipantGood deal. I thought he would cost more, actually.
Ok, how did i not know this undrafted dude was from Zimbabwe ? I read this board everyday, and no-one ever said Landman was from Zim-bob-whey. (formerly Rhodesia)
Landman tweaked his hamstring during his 40 and only ran 4.86 at the combine. Maybe thats why he went undrafted.
“… Seven linebackers tried the 3-cone drill in this year’s combine, with times ranging from 6.91 seconds to 7.47 seconds. Landman posted a 6.88.
The five linebackers at the combine ranged from 4.25 seconds to 4.55 seconds in the 20 yard shuttle. Landman posted a 4.32.
“It shows the lateral movements, lateral quickness and a shorter explosion that definitely matches up on tape,” Landman said. “I think I showed today that I can move in space, I can flip my hips and I’m not just a run linebacker, I’m one that can move in space and one that is pretty well-rounded. I can play all downs in the league.”
Mobility in general has been the biggest question mark surrounding Landman’s game throughout the draft process. Some scouts say Landman is best-suited to only play first and second downs to avoid putting him in pass coverage. Landman’s athleticism has never been his selling point as a player but an Achilles injury that ended his 2020 season and cut into his offseason created more concerns. A shoulder injury that ended his 2021 campaign also caused concern but his 20 reps on the bench press should quell any lingering doubts….”
Nate Landman is done with ‘track stuff’ and ready to get back to football

Facts about Zimbabwe:
Zimbabwe gained its independence from the United Kingdom on April 18, 1980, after a period of white-minority rule.Zimbabwe holds the world record for having the most official languages, with 16 in total, including English, Shona, and Ndebele.
There are two active NFL players from Zimbabwe: linebacker Nate Landman of the Los Angeles Rams and defensive end T. J. Maguranyanga of the Washington Commanders.
wvParticipantA stat.
The Seattle Seahawks currently have the most giveaways (turnovers) in the NFL with 20, while the Chicago Bears have forced the most turnovers from opponents with 22. The Seahawks also have the league’s highest turnover rate at 17.3% of drives ending in a turnover, according to NFL.com

wvParticipantThey talk about Rams/Bucs and personnel groupings, trends…
wvParticipantKurt does a nice job teaching about a route concept on INT no.3
(12 minute mark, or so)
wvParticipantI will just reiterate what has already been said 100 times on this board.
Steven Jackson was a man, and he was absolutely robbed by living in a time when the Rams totally sucked. Steven Jackson deserved much, much better.
He is the Rams’ version of Archie Manning. A Hall of Famer on a team of children.
Fwiw, Paul Boudreau was the Offensive line coach, when Bradford and Jason Brown were starting.
He built a lot of good Olines with several teams over the years.
“…Scott Linehan brought Boudreau in as offensive line coach for the St. Louis Rams for the 2006 and 2007 seasons. In 2006, his offensive line allowed running back Steven Jackson to rush a career best 1,528 yards.[21] …” wiki

wvParticipantAfter seeing what The Texans DLine did to Josh Allen, i am just happy Matt Stafford survived that early Texan game.
w
v
wvParticipantSo the Rams are up there in George Bush territory, whereas the Eagles are now just a little bit north of Noam Chomsky.
I’m not sure how I feel about that.
Yeah, i could see it coming in some of Snead’s vids:
“I’m telling you there’s an enemy that would like to attack the Rams, again. There just is. That’s the reality of the world. And I wish them all the very best.”
w
v
wvParticipantApparently, Chomsky and his wife had some sort of relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
I never know how much is CIA influenced smear/spin stuff, and what is real. Its the capitalist-end-times-dystopian-matrix after all.

wvParticipantRams are 6.5 point favorites against the Bucs. Which seems bat-shit-crazy to me. I dont get it.
w
vI agree. That’s too low. 😎
Tampa is okay on offense, but their defense is mediocre.
I dunno. Havenstein is one of those guys I like to see out on the field.
Now i realize you have never valued Offensive Line play. You’ve always been a “QB elevates the team” guy.
Also, I think Tampa will be desperate and I suspect the Rams will be drained after the Seahawk game. I would take Tampa and the points
