TSRFParticipantHmm. this got me thinking, “What the hell ever happened to the new Star Trek series that was supposed to start in January?”
Here’s the latest:
Seems like it needs to overcome some inertia…
I hope it is good. Always was Star Trek vs. Star Wars.
Looking forward to Capaldi’s last season as Dr. Who (not like I was looking forward to Matt Smith’s: I was hoping Matt would go. Going to miss Capaldi..).
TSRFParticipantI like it. Our specials are truly special, and will continue to be so. I think the next jersey I get is going to be a Hekker.
TSRFParticipantRachel Maddow is becoming must see TV in my household. At least up until Trump gets impeached.
And then we’ll watch the victory laps for a week or two.
TSRFParticipantTwo snow days here in CT; yesterday and today. They were actually our 4th and 5th snow days of the year, having one this past Friday too.
My back hurts. 52 and 3/4 years on this planet, think I’m going to finally buy a snow blower this off season, especially since my son will be going off to college.
Also had to buy a new mailbox. The old one is gone without a trace, but the post was still standing. I’m sure it will turn up once the snow melts. I hope there is nothing in it but bills…

TSRFParticipantDid you see that Bill Barnwell on ESPN gave the Wells signing a D+? Here’s his write up:
—
After Marquise Goodwin picked up two years and $8 million from the 49ers Wednesday, the league’s primal urge to sign non-Sammy Watkins receivers away from the Bills hit a fever pitch on Thursday with the Woods signing. Los Angeles committed five years and $39 million for Woods to replace Kenny Britt in their lineup, including $15 million guaranteed. This comes one year after the Rams gave Tavon Austin a four-year, $42-million extension with an unreal $28.5 million in guarantees, a deal that might be the worst contract in football this year. Unless the Rams stretch his roster bonus (which would be an even worse idea), Austin is going to get $15 million in 2017, which will be the third-highest cap hit for a wideout in football.
It looks like the Rams overpaid Robert Woods to come to Los Angeles. Bill Streicher/USA Today Sports
What are the Rams getting with Woods? It’s hard to tell. He hasn’t been particularly productive, despite spending all four of his seasons in Buffalo as a starting wide receiver. Among the 33 wideouts with 45 or more starts since 2013, Woods ranks 28th in receptions, 31st in receiving yards and tied for 31st in touchdowns. He’s still young — Woods turns 25 in April — but there isn’t much evidence that he is developing as a pass-catcher.The other benefit to Woods is his blocking as a wideout, and indeed, he might be one of the best blockers in football on the edge. He offers value there, but how often do teams really value blocking in their wide receivers? Isn’t it likely that the Rams could have picked up a decent blocker on the edge at wideout for a fraction of Woods’ price? Woods feels like a weak-hitting first baseman with a good glove, where the secondary skill is useful but doesn’t do nearly enough to mitigate his missing bat.
TSRFParticipantWell it has started here in CT (ahead of schedule) and the cat is not happy.
I read somewhere that cats are sensitive to barometric pressure. That’s why there were so many ship’s cats; they get agitated when low pressure approaches.
Anyway, mine got pretty damned agitated and woke me up to tell me about it a half hour ago.
The Governor just issued a travel ban (for everybody, not just Muslims) starting at 5 AM and ending TBD.
Going to fill the bath tub with water just in case we lose ‘lectricity…
TSRFParticipantSpring snow melts quick. If it really upsets you so much, Florida is always an option. Just saying.
TSRFParticipantI definitely want to see a FA Center. I also want to see Hav staying at RT and GR going to guard.
I want to see growth from the QB position. Once that happens, wins will follow.
TSRFParticipantFirst off, I like Keenum, but understand it is time for Mannion to back up. I hope CK ends up somewhere like Denver, where he may have a chance to start (or maybe not, since Kubiak retired).
For players I’d like to see return, in order: Bennie, McDonald, The Leg, Reynolds.
Haven’t seen enough of Thomas to have a feel either way, but have had enough of a tease to know it is time to part with Quick.
TSRFParticipantSounds old. I hope he holds up.
Maybe he is eating the same diet that Tom Brady is…

TSRFParticipantMaybe the players can roll up their sleeves?
Wasn’t that the Jim Burt look (1980’s Giant DL)?
TSRFParticipantThe domesticated goose is one nasty animal. Very territorial. I was at a friend’s house when I was in high school, and I went outside to have a cigarette. They had a goose and it didn’t like me one bit. It started honking at me, then it put its head all the way don to the ground and charged! Once it got next to me, it lifted up its head and pecked me right in the knee. I did land a kick, but it got out of range fast and started honking and flapping its wings. It basically backed me up against the house and I had to wait for my buddy’s brother (the owner of the goose) to come and put it back in its pen.
Not my best moment, but not my worst either!

TSRFParticipantHmmm.
Seeing how the Rams Logo now has white horns, find it hard to believe that the shoulder logos will still be gold.
Just saying.
TSRFParticipantThanks, ZN.
I did warn her about pick-pockets. We did hear from her and she texted that the youth hostel is very nice. I’m pretty sure my Russian friend was just fucking with me; he is our reining chess master, even crushing the physicists, which pisses them off to no end.
The wife, son and I are going to Geneva the first week of April. Sonya is going to be working her internship (was a split semester; half classes that she just finished, half internship), but we are getting there on a Friday morning. I told her to pick a destination, and we’ll fly there Friday afternoon when she gets out of work, then back to Geneva Sunday afternoon. I’m hoping somewhere in Northern Italy, but it will be her call.
TSRFParticipantSo who’s going to watch Bill tonight? I am. Can’t wait. I know he caught a lot of flak last week for having Milo on, but look what happened to the sad wanker since. Not saying there is a cause and effect between being on Real Time and crashing and burning, but not saying there isn’t either.

TSRFParticipantColor me skeptical. I really didn’t like losing Battle off the PS. If Saffold gets hurt and GW stays to script, the O Line will be a disaster (again).

TSRFParticipantThere may actually be light at the end of the tunnel…
TSRFParticipantThere’s where you’re wrong. It’s well known that Chomsky has a weakness for show tunes.
TSRFParticipantMy opinion only, of course, but I think this board lost some juice when we lost the contrarian. As much as he was a pain in many of our asses, we were getting some fire and a peek at a reality tunnel none of us inhabits.
TSRFParticipantOK, my bad; I thought you were saying his breed is Bondi, not that his name is Bondi.
See, that could have started a whole, “Is he and Australian Shepherd or is he a Bondi” board war. Good thing cooler heads prevailed.
TSRFParticipantHey, ZN.
Totally agree with that map, especially over the last 7 days…
Last Wednesday, I left my house at the normal 5:30AM to get up to Beverly by 9. We had snow the day before, but it had turned to rain overnight and was 35F when I left. Once I got north of Hartford, the temp was dipping from 33 to 31F. Then, I hit the first rest area on the Mass Pike, and everything except for the blacktop was coated in ice. Caused me to start listening to AM Boston radio, and then I heard about the 33 car pile-up in Wakefield, and then the 55 care pile-up in Lynnfield, and then traffic on I-90 came to a halt. There was a tractor trailer across the road. It took me over an hour to get from Exit 10 to Exit 10A. I turned around and went home; 5 hrs to get from home, to Exit 10A to home again.
Then the blizzard hit the next day. And then, snow, rain, ice snow on Sunday.
BTW, very nice looking dog, looks a lot to me like an Australian Shepherd. Are they related?
TSRFParticipantSorry for you, and the people of WV who elected him. I see lots of Reps are catching shit during town halls back home. Good.
Me, I’m happy with my senators. Both have pissed off the Donald to no end. Murphy first with the gun control stuff, then Blumenthal leaking what the Justice Elect told him.
TSRFParticipantHe must be a Hybrid of sorts… he does play day games (for now).
TSRFParticipantWas that the same kick returner who brought it out to the 10 on two kick-offs in a row?
If yes, he should be fired along with the Special Teams coach.
The only people besides Pats fans who are happy at this outcome Giants fans. They are the only team to beat this incarnation of evil not once, but twice, and no one else has done it even once…
TSRFParticipantThere you go again, citing concepts like “is” and “true”…
I suggest you try “seems like to me” instead of “is” for a while.
Also, what is true to you may not be true to me or Mac, and surly not true to my cat (trust me; he doesn’t believe in anything he can’t stick his claws into).
TSRFParticipant2026? I thought we had at least until The Year 2525 (if Man is still alive)…
Or maybe all we have is Five Years (My brain hurts a lot), Five Years (That’s all we’ve got).

TSRFParticipantJust substitute “Fascism” for “Fashion” in the lyrics below.
This is where we are. DB must have seen it coming and bailed on us…
We’re walking that fine line, I think.
“Fashion”
There’s a brand new dance
but I don’t know its name
That people from bad homes
do again and again
It’s big and it’s bland
full of tension and fear
They do it over there but we don’t do it here[CHORUS]
Fashion! Turn to the left
Fashion! Turn to the right
Oooh, fashion!
We are the goon squad
and we’re coming to town
Beep-beep
Beep-beepListen to me – don’t listen to me
Talk to me – don’t talk to me
Dance with me – don’t dance with me, no
Beep-beepThere’s a brand new talk,
but it’s not very clear
That people from good homes
are talking this year
It’s loud and tasteless
and I’ve heard it before
You shout it while you’re dancing
on the whole dance floor
Oh bop, fashion[CHORUS]
Listen to me – don’t listen to me
Talk to me – don’t talk to me
Dance with me – don’t dance with me, no
Beep-beep
Beep-beepOh, bop, do do do do do do do do
Fa-fa-fa-fa-fashion
Oh, bop, do do do do do do do do
Fa-fa-fa-fa-fashionJanuary 27, 2017 at 8:01 pm in reply to: This past week has reminded me of my favourite Star Trek TNG moment #64447
TSRFParticipantAll the times I watched that episode, I totally missed the fact that it was a nod to (or rip-off of) Orwell’s 1984. It wasn’t until I heard a commentator describing the week’s doings in Orwellian terms that it hit me.
TSRFParticipantI will be hoping the Falcons can win. I just feel that they are over matched.
If the Pats score first, look out.
TSRFParticipantFake news.
Everybody knows carbon is used as a filter for water. I mean, can you think of anything more healthy for you than crisp, burned carbon?
Before I butter my toast, I scrape some of the carbon off, crush it into a fine dust and snort it. Exhilarating!
